Our Generation Doll or American Girl Doll. Opinion of both. AG Doll of the Year or Deluxe OG Doll

What is better? An Our Generation Doll or American Girl Doll. Well both have pros and cons in my opinion. The most notable being the price tag. For a child who will outgrow their doll or who is a more Active Annie, Our Generation is a good bang for your buck playline doll that you won't feel too bad about throwing out if she pretends to be a superhero off the second floor balconey one too many times. For a girl who is a more a La-de-da Lisa, American Girl quality shows with the larger cost. That being said, there is no doubt in my mind that an AG doll will outlast an OG doll when put to toy testing, but I'm sure a parent would rather toss a doll that cost them a lot less.
Purely an opinion based thing on faces. I have enough OG dolls (old and new), and AG dolls (old and new), to know that despite there being different face moulds, there is an underlying similarity in the make type. I much prefer the more innocent, fuller faces of the AG dolls. On some dolls the OG faces are a bit more realistic (such as this OG doll I'd consider more realistic than the AG doll.) The AG dolls may be less realistic in my opinion but I love their innocent fuller doll face more.
Body quality is telling. AG is far superior in their finishing stitching. The OG doll looks rushed and the stitching looks like it could fraw at the side quite easily with some rough play. The OG wrinkle lines in the hands and the feet are deeper so easier to see which I prefer. The fabric on the OG doll I prefer as it matched the plastic better and I liked the feel, however I can tell that the fabric on the AG doll is better quality.
For clothing on these dolls, the OG doll's outfit is cooler and better made with a zip. The AG doll's dress is cuter. however clothing isn't really something I wanted to base my review on as I wanted to concentrate on the base doll.
Articulation is fairly similary with the AG doll having a very small advantage.
OG is more accessible given its cheaper price tag and wider selection of countries to buy from but there is always something so lovely about a doll that is 'harder to get' in your country. American Girl dolls are sort after all over the world because of this.
You know your child and budget. If money is not an issue and your girl isn't a monster, I'd advise the AG doll.
End line is that if i'm given the choice between an AG doll or OG doll, I would pick the AG doll based on face and body finishing quality every time. You get what you paid for.

An interesting comparison. I don’t have any OG but do have AG. The face on the IG is quite different. I do think they have more variety of faces but still prefer the AG.
