This is from a vlog I just posted called “I’m a beginner, do you have any tips?” Also normally the vocalist cues this horn line outro so that’s why I was caught off guard when she mouthed “solo”😂 Merch available at www.foolishfrankie.com 🙂
You are such a pro bro. If every note came out perfect just because we want them to, solos would be done by everyone. Overcoming the less than perfect (aka., bad) notes is what it's all about. Your confidence clearly grew throughout. Keep inspiring.
This happened to me at a gig in Derbyshire. The singer just went "And on keyboards.....". I busked it, and it went down well, but I said to the singer, "No more surprise solos please".
It's inconceivable to me how good you are haha, I've been playing the saxophone for about a year and a half and although I already had a notion of music before, I don't even come close, how long have you been playing?
I don't really get why the captions suggest the performer has no idea what key the song is in, or its chord progression. What is he playing before coming in for a solo?!
My chart only has this horn line at the end and I was waiting for that to be cued. Admittedly if I don’t normally solo on a song I don’t listen to it from a “what would I do if I was soloing on this” standpoint. The captions are way delayed though. I figure everything out faster than you would be able to read it, usually in a second or two

That b9 catch was awesome. That typa stuff is why I love playing and listening to jazz.

The start of this is almost identical to the theme of Postman Pat, very nostalgic

And you said you don't have perfect pitch. Perhaps not, but you are still an expert.

What is a b9 chord
