My exFIL would bring kidney and organ meats from the butcher shoppe for my cat and she grew into a healthy beast-cat😂💗 She had always been the tiniest of the litter but grampa knew how to fatten her up the right way. She never had any health issues.
Ferrets are mustelids and not rodents or lagomorphs. Mustelids are a group of carnivores such as stoats, weasels, honey badgers, wolverines, mink and many others. Like their wild relatives, the domesticated ferret is an obligate carnivore. So their diet should consist of whole prey items such as frozen thawed mice, chicks, quail and more. If whole prey isn’t available, then a more typical raw diet is done using resources designed for cats.
I guess feeding home cooked real food with much vegetables, even though its vegan, can be even more healthy then kibble.. But still add some meat and its 1000x better even ofcourse!
@@Tara8oh8 doesn't need to be carbs though.. And Kibble is 70-90% carbs. It even alters the ph of the intestines. So while I can understand your point, this argument is somewhat invalid 😅
@@fiendeprez9051 You specifically said "home cooked real food with much vegetables, even though its vegan...", how is that not carbs? Show me a vegan diet that is not saturated with carbs. I know what's in kibble, hence why my dogs eat raw meat.
I could preach, but she's got it all covered! 👏 I've been feeding a raw diet since that picture of the wolf and dog graced the cover of the National Geographic! Never took my dogs to a vet as they've never needed to be seen until elder age works it magic. My dogs have just seen the vet for age issues at 12 years old. 😍🤗
Best decision that I made for my dogs. I switched to a Raw diet 2 years ago. I thank you and Chadde (1st508th Airborne) for the information that you've provided on this subject. My dogs don't get bored with their diet. I feed them whole tilapia, chicken hind quareters, chicken liver, chicken gizzards, beef liver, beef heart, beef kidney, beef tripe, beef shank, and numerous different fruits and veggies. I price shop for these foods. My monthly dog food bill has lowered exponentially since converting.
@@shawncarter5619 BTW... there isn't much of a science to it. For me, I took a common sense approach. I started with a certain portion size. If I saw my dogs getting skinnier than usual then I increased the portion size and vice versa. Your dog will know how much it can eat. Some dogs will gorge themselves at first and throw up the food. But, that's them learning what their body can take in.
@@shawncarter5619 One more thing... that guy (1st 508th Airborne) also has videos of him going to WalMart to purchase the food. He shows how cheap it can be compared to "high quality" dry or wet dog food.
Thank you Anneka! I’ve always hated the way dry kibble type foods smells. I routinely have added raw foods to encourage my GSDs appetite. After seeing this vid I can never go back to processed dry food. God bless you!
You ever try putting like half a teaspoon of olive oil on dry kibble, my dog goes nuts for it. It turns the most boring kibble into the most exciting treat ever.
Jeff K I have no problem with olive oil to enhance the flavor. I’m not eager to entice something I believe to be bad for my dogs. I want them to not only enjoy but get good nutrition. I believe 100 percent raw w/ vegetables, is the best way to go.
I fed my 2 Huskies raw for 100$ a month. Some quality expensive kibble can cost more than that . Even if you cant go raw completely for your own reason. Mix fresh vegetables, raw egg or a bit of meat in your dog kibble with bright his/her day
Hi, I don't think it is advisable to mix raw food with cooked, I.e. kibble or other cooked foods as they digest at different rates so am not sure if this could cause problems for dogs fed that way. Maybe feed one raw meal and one cooked/dry meal.
@@AK-uv8om i think because they don't weight much. My older husky is 43 lbs and the smaller one is just 35 lbs. Of course is you have bigger dogs, it will cost more to feed them
And to clean a dog's teeth, big bones are great. Growing up, our German Shepherd had a beef bone once a week or so. We tried to get the biggest possible from the butcher who asked, Do you have a lion at home?
I lost my staffy when he was 7yrs old due to cancer, I'm convinced was caused by kibble, I got another staffy just after and have always fed her raw..She looks lovely, I've had her 4 years now..And a new member is buster my blue staffy hes 9 months and also on raw 80-10-10. Vets need your money and will sell you in the kibble direction..Please put your dogs on raw,They will live a better life 100%..and most probably will never see a vet...Ban the kibble.!❤
It depends on the genetics of the dog. There is no hard and fast 1 rule for all dogs. I had a rhodesian ridgeback /am staff cross from 6 months old who lived till she was 17 on mainly kibble. We rescued an 11 year old pure bred staff which we put on raw. She hated it. It made her throw up after every meal. Switched to a dry/wet mix and she was fine.
@TheKingOfTheWorld depends on the lineages. Bur alot of staffies have overly tightly selected gene pools and result on compromised bloodlines. Rednose and bluenose are bad for it.
Thank you Aneka for sharing this reality about kibbles. I'm facing that problem with my dog who only digests a medical brand of kibbles with duck, salmon.. If the kibbles contain cereals, corn etc, he has diarrhea. Corn is very bad for carnivoras. I fully agree that raw food is the ideal, meat, fish.. But here it's difficult to get raw food for dogs, storage etc and get enough nutriments not to run the risk of having an unbalanced diet. Meat sold for human is unsufficient for a dog.
I have a cat with IBD. He was never fed dry food in his 3 years of life, only the "wet food" out of the can (premium brands). He now has to be constantly on medication (steroids) otherwise his symptoms come back. So the dry food might have nothing to do with it. That being said, the fact that dry food is garbage is another story and raw meat is always gonna be the best thing for both cats and dogs. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that :D
Aluminium from cans, BPA can linings, glyphosate/pesticides in food, antibiotics in food & medication, heavy metals in vaccines, household chemicals, plus a lucky dip chemical cocktail in tap water.. the contributing factors are endless. Humans and animals alike that have more sensitive constitutions dont stand a chance hence sky rocketing autoimmunes these days. The added problem with cats is that they can be rather good at sequestering food from adoring neighbours without your knowledge too.
Canned food isn't ideal neither. Better because it doesn't dehydrate them but still. Maybe try going barf? I know a case of a sick cat on medication that is doing very well on raw! And can even stop medication
Regardless of where you fall on this issue, I think we can all agree that our pets come first no matter what. I urge people to research and look at various types of diets, but ultimately do what is best for their pet. My cat was raised on Royal Canin Kitten food until he stopped eating it, and his stool would always have issues. He started to only eat wet food. Eventually, we put him on a wet/dry diet and he's healthy and happy now. It's a bit of a trial and error process, but if something works, stick with it. Animals are like humans, the same diets won't work for everyone.
Anneka, Kyoshi is beautiful, sorry you two went through that horrible ordeal, but I'm glad you guys made it through. Must have been extremely heartbreaking. I panic when my dog has the hiccups, can't imagine what you went through. :(
I am understanding the dogs's view now, what with covid here and stepdad working, not really able to go shopping for groceries so, it's been just the same thing these last some days. Pasta. plain, hmm...
It's also a good lesson that people online REALLY know what they're talking about, especially over experts. As these are the same people who have been through it and found what works best, not what is taught in a textbook or by a lecturer who doesn't really have any heart in teaching. I mean vets in general can be frustrating to deal with at times, not to say you shouldn't use them of course. I had a cat who had a abscess which burst and left a pretty large wound on his back. The vet I took him to had no idea how to clean it and literally gave up and admitted she wasn't ready for that pretty much. I wouldn't take advice off someone like that.
I feed my entire pack of huskies raw! My pregnant female ate raw as well and her puppies! She and the father would regurgitate their food as the puppies start to transition. It’s so cool watching instincts
Hello Anneka, Very good information for Dog owners. If you love your Dogs as we do, you only want the best for them, I will share this video with other Dog owners. The girls, Grace & Shiloh wanted me to tell you, they love Animal Watch and Thank you for all you do. All the best from Oregon, C.
BARF is the Best for dogs. No awful Dog Breath clean white teeth and healthy gums. Lean strong and healthy physique no skin issues and no Dog Odour wet or dry. My Golden Retriever had a faint smell of Cinnamon.😊 I feed my Shepherd about 6oz of raw frozen tripe every morning...keeps all the flora happy in the gut. Feed dogs only raw meat bones never cooked. Thx Anneka for a great video 👍😎🐶🐾
Love this. My last dog had chronic health conditions and allergies his entire life that we spent thousands of dollars on over the years to try and fix only have them never go away and lose him to cancer related to digestion issues in the end. It was devastating. After I adopted my rescue the foster carer said she only fed them a barf diet and was telling me all the different types of food he loved. I loved the idea and have fed him raw ever since and transitioned my puppy over to it. Both have amazing coats, skin and nails, flawless teeth from the bones I give them to chew, great breath and the best digestion of any dog I’ve had. They never get tired of any meal and get so excited to see what’s different today. Vets always say they’re amazed at how well they look when we go in for our once a year checkups and STILL when they find out their diet they try to convince us to go to a dry kibble diet. Coincidentally the same brand they have embroidered into their uniforms. 🙄
I'm so glad I came across this video. This will hopefully make more dog owners to switch to raw. Our border collie had a terrible allergy, when she was about 8 months old, she had to eat hypoallergenic food for 8 weeks; bless her she hated it, medication after medication, nothing helped. It was heartbreaking seeing her scratching herself almost 24/7 and nothing we could do for her helped. Then I went online and researched; we came across raw diet. We switched her immediately, best decision we've ever done, apart from rehoming her, avoiding her to go to a shelter. Since then we dropped flea, tick spot ons too, we now use 100% natural, dried herbs against fleas, ticks and mites. She's nearly 3 now, healthy, shiny, happy. I tell nearly every dog owner I know to switch to raw; some actually had done it. I'm also a big fan of Dr. Karen Becker too. Thank you for this video.
all dogs are different like humans my old pitt who passed year ago at age of 16 ate Aldi canned food all his life the one i have now only eats raw enriched food thanks for bringing this up Anneka
Thank you madam! My dog has the same illnes IBD, and it's quite difficult to find information about it. I really appreciate your help! Lovely wolf! Take care.
Thank you! I have been telling people for years to not buy regular dry dog food. In my family I saw it happen too, only when she switched to other food the dog got healthy. First more regular food (adapted to the dog), then animal-doctor approved dog food and in addition some regular food. A big part of that animal food industry is shenanigans.
Hi Anneka, was watching your video, your late Tamaskan Dog Kyoshi.. She was lovely ❤ dog 🐕.IBD crohns disease/ colitis is horrible condition, it's grand when it's undercontrol right medication.. I suffer from IBD Crohns Diease / Colitis since 2005 I was very sick lost alot of weight and pains in my joints. I went to hospital put on tablets and infusions and everything was going to plan... as years go by regular checkup doctor appointments, I was weaning off medication slowly.. I was given clear early 2019 it was great relief still having routine checkup and watching my diet carefully.. I got sick 1st May 2021 ended up in hospital for 2 months my crohns disease/ colitis flared up again, in alot of pain and lost alot of weight.. came home 1st July felt good gain my weight back on medication for few weeks and back working again.. I came home work from Thursday evening 1st October I was in alot in pain. went to doctor, they said straight to hospital doctor said emergency surgery, crohns disease/ colitis had gotten worse, 6 inches of small intestine (bowel) was taken away. on medication for few and wearing temporary stoma bag for 6 months it will be reversed in April 2022.. thank god no more suffering of pain.. Anneka that my story IBD Crohns Disease/Colitis. Talk soon David.
We had a husky an we fed him raw food he was a beautiful stunning strong dog and twice the size of our friends dog of the same breed an age, I totally recommended raw food for dogs 👍🏻
Our lab was getting over weight and losing his appetite...he is 14. We switched him to this diet so he can enjoy his last year. But alot has changed...he's lost 10 pounds...which was hard because he can't run anymore and walking is hard for him. His fur is like he just got out if the groomers every day....his teeth and breath is better. He has been walking around wanting to play and ho on more walks and us generally acting like he's 5-6 years younger. We really think this saved his life and has given us more time with him...which is priceless. We wished we started him this way its so obvious...we train our dogs like athletes (running fetch hikes etc....dailey) but we give them the equivalent if grapenuts everyday? Why arnt we feeding them whole raw goods as fresh as possible like pro athletes do?! My dig is already old. And its changed so much if you're on the fence try it fir a week or month....whole proteins and veggies and fruits aren't gonna kill your dog its good for them...its in their crappy kibble anyways...only that stuff is processed garage. I'm never going back. I have seen 5+ positives in just 1 month.....in my older dog.
I believe it's not the fact that it's raw vs cooked or wet vs dry that made the difference, but the ingredients: animal material vs plant material. We made a dry kibble animal-material product called SDN or Superdog Nutrition for our 400 dogs, and it gives the same healthy effect WITHOUT the hassles, expense and dangers of feeding raw. 😊💕
You’re one of the reasons I feed raw. I was always curious then I watched a video that you done about it and when I saw that even though you’re a vegetarian, you still feed raw. That’s how important it is to you. I did more research and that seems to be the case for many owners. Even though they have their own opinions for what they choose to eat, their animals always come first. Such dedication and love.
I still remember the time when i feed my two toy breed kibble, they would get bored fast and quick and it’s always a struggle to get them to eat. Then i did my research and decide to go raw. Honestly the best decision ever! My puppers are more energetic, more healthy and has amazing appetite!
I've switched about 4 months ago from 80% dry to a mixture of dry and wet food after one of my dogs (husky 5,5 years :( ) died of cancer (long story) As a result his 2 year younger brother is finally gaining a bit of weight. Our dogs are originally from Beijng China, from China we moved to New Zealand, in order to be able to import our dogs into NZ we had to send them to EU (Netherlands) first for a period of 6 months before we could send them to NZ. They have switched food many times and it always has been difficult to find the right brand. Long story short; no more 100% dry food for our dog.. Thanks Anneka
I make a base of boiled carrots, sweet potato, & rice. I then add raw organ meats, such as liver, Turkey necks, beef heart & kidney. It’s actually affordable to do, especially compared to high end kibble that is actually expensive. My gsd is almost 12 and is doing well.on raw meats.
I feed my Wolfie a mix of freeze dried raw, meat from hunters like venison and ek and various high quality minimal ingredient high protein canned foods. Switch out the protein source often for diversity. He used to puke and get diarrhea with kibble. Now his fur is shiny and he no longer has digestive issues.
I have a 110 lb Rottweiler, and two Australian Shepherds, all eat raw. Average meal for them is chicken leg quarters, turkey necks, sardines, beef liver, hearts/gizzards, and hamburger. They're not super active right now as it's pretty hot here so they get 2% of their body weight in food. I'm spending about the same on raw as I was on their kibble per month.
Stopped giving kibble the same year I got my own dog after researching about dogs digestion and really seeing how it makes no sense at all to give them grains, lentils, beans and other plantfood... Both my dog and cat is on a raw diet and are doing amazing.
I stopped with "dog food" for my GSD's years back when the scandal of Chinese product came to light. Shepherds have dickey tummies anyway but I find raw beef the way to go or lightly cooked chicken and occasional pork to kill off any ecoli. Smallish amounts of high quality kibble for necessary vitamins seems fine. When I lived in the UK I found of all canned foods, Chappie was the best & cheapest. Dogs loved it and I wish I could get hold of Chappie in Canada. People balk at the price of real meat though you only need to buy cheaper cuts. Dogs are natural scavengers and do not need prime beef. Anyway the lack of vet bills balances it all out.
I honestly don't have a problem with beef as long as you see where it is coming from and what are the cows being fed... Never forget the reason why mad cow disease started in the 90s was because people were feeding dead infected cows to other cows!
It hard for me to feed my 2 dogs raw I've 3 kids , they are happy with there water or gravy on there biscuits with a Sunday dinner veggies chicken . I'm real glad u made a choice and the outcome was positive for your dog your vids are real good
It really must be emphasised that if your feeding raw you should feed a range of different meats so that your pet gets all the essential nutrients, amino acids and proteins required. Chucking them a butchers bone every day is not good enough. They also need complex carbs so cooked brown rice every other day mixed in with animal organs such as hearts, livers etc is essential. Do it wrong and your probably doing more harm than good. If you don't want the hassle of preparing raw meals yourself then nutriment are the best company to go for. They aren't cheap but they deliver frozen raw food packs that are the best available on the market.
Yes similar story with my little chiweenie Molly. I have 2 chiweenies now Shadow my male and Molly. They both are on 100% raw and of course get real food treats. They are so healthy everyone comments about it that meet them. Thank you for sharing this!!
Not just dogs but cats too. My cat used to be a projectile vomiter nearly every day. She is naturally lean, but she was also skeletal at her worst. If she were human, she would likely be as trim as Anneka. Now, imagine shaving off 15kg and expecting her to feel awesome - she wouldn't. I now feed mine a wet food diet with plenty of yummy lean cuts of meat with the dry on the side if she feels like it. My cat put on a kilogram, has a very lush coat and she doesn't puke everywhere anymore.
I feed my rescue akita raw as she was would go off her dry food and had regular bouts of sickness and go days without eating. Since switching to raw she has never missed a meal and the sickness are completely disappeared and she looks soo much healthier
My dog started getting sick on kibble, I switched him to raw food 6 weeks ago and he's never looked better. Another curious thing is that cooked chicken makes my dog vomit or have diarrhoea but I can feed him raw chicken just fine.
Same here with the cooked food. I switched my three dogs over to raw back in march and they've never been better. The aussie's pancreatitis is gone, the rotties allergies are gone and the other aussie has better digestion and gained much needed weight. Someone fed them some cooked chicken a few days ago and the two aussies had runny stools and vomiting.
We're the only creature that cooks its food. Not so curious when you look at it like that. I never understood why we give animals cooked meat other than our convenience..
I have a high quality kibble as a backup, but even that leaves her stool bulky and soft I feed her raw most of the time and her stool is small, dry and formed, almost like deer pellets, she smells less, her teeth have less plaque, and is happier
I feed my GSD kibble on work days and raw food on the weekends. And alternate dry foods every month so that it doesn’t bore the poor dogs. I know people are on budgets sometimes.
I cook my dog alot of different foods. Two days its cooked chicken livers, duck or lamb. With cantaloupe, strawberries, carrots or something, its actually surprisingly alot cheeper than buying “regular dry dog food.” The lamb or duck is just something i enjoy splurging on. (If you call it splurging) thats the higher meats. You can also get beef or chicken, for 2$ or steak for 4$ so many others. Its good to mix it up! It actually saved me money. And yes* its great for the health and happiness of my dog. I also make my own treats which actually are alot cheaper. Plus i know whats in them. And they love it.
My poor dog had diarrhea for 20 years, so bad he’d cry from stomach pain then he’d poop diarrhea like water, I finally started cooking all the dogs food and the next day he quit crying from pain and had the first firm stool ever. Thank god he’s so happy now, I’m in the process of research a raw diet. Our dogs will live longer and happier if we quit feeding them processed crap, it’s literally crap
As soon as I see the title, I clicked "like". I have been persuading dogs owners to give their family table food and dry dog food is killing the dogs. My Akita Sherperd died at 9 and he loved meat so much.
Anneka thank you for caring so much, and I’m happy to see a blessed ending, they are our children and we must be careful on what we feed them, along those lines have you had any experience with heart worm medications? Here in the United States I have a two-year-old female shepherd and we only want the very best for her, currently we’ve had her on 3 in 1 Trifexis tablet given monthly, there is a Lotta Internet taboo about giving this? Can you share any pros or cons? Thank you 🙏
I am looking at very rare beef for myself right now as it seems like something my body would enjoy. But my new puppy is not eating much, and I am hoping he doesn’t have to switch to something else besides puppy chow, at least for the first year and a half of life. After that, we might see, but he needs his puppy food for the nutrients. He is not sick, just not interested in the puppy food. He wants to eat the large breed adult that the other dogs are fed and he can’t. Hopefully he’s hungry when he wakes up, because he did eat a bunch of his new food today. He also got his first shots and two different wormers yesterday, so while he is not sick, he doesn’t feel particularly well. He brightened right up after he got some of his new food in him. Now to get him to drink.
You gotta research your dry dog food. Many brands fill it with grains or even saw dust. Best dog food I ever found that my dogs love is Blue Buffalo Wilderness Salmon Recipe Grain-Free Dry Dog Food. Sure you can switch to a raw food diet, but that also creates it's own problems as well as risks.
Ironically this video was posted as I experienced the same ordeal recently..my Alaskan malamute (pfp) for 2 weeks had horrible explosive diarrhea and vomiting which appeared to have no cause. I tried everything! Pumpkin purée, medicine, more water, cottage cheese. Nothing helped. Her vomiting and explosive diarrhea was getting worse by the day, I was avoiding the vet because of how stressed she gets and carsick she becomes, I didn’t want to put her through more pain if I could resolve the issue at home. But i was running out of options. But i couldn’t place my finger on what was making her so sick. And then, a couple of days ago (6 days ago) I decided to put her BACK on a raw barf diet, as she was raised as a puppy on raw food. When I tell you all, ALL her issues stopped IMMEDIATELY. I was shocked! She started to have solid perfect stools within 12 hours, ALL her vomiting stopped as well. For the longest time I thought, there’s no way it could be the kibble. I had been giving her the same brand and bag of food for almost a year since I switched her from raw. I thought maybe it was her getting into something she wasn’t suppose to, or having a reaction to a treat. But it was the kibble all along. And there you have it. I am NEVER giving my dog kibble again. Kibble is pure GARBAGE and it will destroy a dogs insides.
I'm surprised to find out that you had been feeding your dogs commercial dog product because I thought you had been feeding them raw meats. I have watched a couple of other you tube videos where the owners of Huskies actually got weekly deliveries of high grade raw meats (all came frozen) and one guy even added a vitamin supplement and added chicken feet as well but that is here in the States. I would think there are suppliers of high quality raw meats in your area and if I am not mistaken I think you did a video of how important it was to feed all dogs that kind of food.
My aunt’s boxer...suffered for years on “prescription” dog food. Finally I waited until she was gone to work and fed her dog basic pedigree.. gone was her “pancreatitis” along with the $400 per month dog food bill
Honestly my dogs health instantly got better when I switched her off of kibble for a home cooked vet approved alternative. My pooch also had a bad case of IBS and less than a month after the switch, her health had gotten better. Not only that, but even seasonal skin allergies had not shown up after the diet change. Honestly going forward I will never go back to kibble.
I’ve done something similar but not RAW. I’ve put both of my dogs on Pure an air dried food that you rehydrate with warm water. They love it and I no longer give them dry or wet food from pet stores. They get good and regular stool and no vomitting. So yes definiteley ditch thf dry food
Gee.. don’t have enough space to write about this. I absolutely agree with you... raw (as possible) but from an other angle... if you want your dog healthy , shiny and strong avoid grain at all cost. It makes them fat and smelly. Raw is the best food you can give (including bones) but you have to balance his diets right... wolfs eat the stomage of a deer aswell , so sometimes it needs the berries and the predigested greens. And keep in mind raw food makes the stomagejuice more acid. Sometimes a dog (like my stabyhoun) has conditions that lead to intestines problems (the acid is to much for the guts) i found the solution in a canned (raw) food .. it has, duck, pheasant, deer, and even salmon .. it’s grainfree and ever since he’s eaten this he’s doing great. But then again this is my dog, every dog is different. But what ever you give him or her....leave the grain out. if you want to know the brand ..search for something that has a .....”taste of the wild” ;)
My dog was born on the streets in Qatar. She was only there for a few weeks when a family member of mine rescued her mum and the whole litter to foster them and she kept my dog as her own. Unfortunately she got parvovirus which nearly killed her in the end but she lucky survived and was brought over to england but didn’t get on with a couple of the other dogs in the house so my and my boyfriend took her. Unfortunately though the parvovirus meant that most of her digestive organs were damaged so she will most likely always have chronic diarrhoea and sickness. I don’t know if raw would be good for her because she has a very sensitive stomach.
If you look and both Cats and Dogs, none of their Teeth are flat like a Humans. All the teeth are made for cutting and tearing flesh. But here we are feeding this dry garbage Kibble that we are told to feed them. Do you ever watch your dog eat dry Kibble, it's horrible to watch. Some dogs look at the food like 'What the hell are you giving me" But if you give them chicken, Beef, or anything that details of actual food they are happy to take it. As a child I once had a dog a Chihuahua, he couldn't stand dry Kibble. So my parents feed him boiled Chicken with Chicken Broth. Never seen such a happier dog. He even ate Eggs too. He ate better than most people. Now I wish I kept that way of feeding all my dogs. Never again will I feed my dogs Kibble. I been doing so much research for this Raw Diet even have some books on it. So now any dogs I get next will never touch Dry again.
Please could you do a video on raw food brands? Where to buy them?? Also I know you did a video years ago about how to make your own home made barf diet for the dogs so could you compare a home made barf meal to a already made which you buy?? Thank you for the videos I absolutely love this channel!!😊😊
It’s sad to see people buying dry kibbles at the store before I learned about the raw diet I use to feed my last dog dry kibble and he developed seizures I wouldn’t understand why he would have seizures until he passed away Nd I learned it was all do to eating a poor kibble diet Wich are all honestly the same doesn’t matter the brand or the price they are all the same at the end of the day I now feed 100 % raw to my new dog and he’s never had a single issue in fact he’s probably the healthiest dog I e ever owned and also probably the happiest dog I’ve ever owned he’s been in a raw diet since the first day he came home and I’ve never had to take him to the vet due to any health issues he loves his food I am completely sure that the dry kibble was the reason my previous dog passed away and was the reason he would get seizures it’s sad to see people buying this garbage food at stores not realizing their harming their furry friends
If you do feed kibble best practices are turn it into a meal use other dtuff to help reduce kibble intake and make sure they arent getting dried out. Not a huge fan of a raw diet but a meat and freah ingredients diet with kibble as a supplement can work well.
Change their kibble often. Broth their kibble. Use of toppers and other ingredients. Table food scraps when meals can be prepared that are dog safe. My current cane corso rescue. Haven't even gone to a full meal switch yet as she's not even 3 months. And my last rescue a st miguel cattle dog. Both have had significant uptake in quality of their coat and other stuff after the diet switch. Human meats cooked down plain ish or raw if you prefer. Wet food. Kibble. Certain veggies and fruits. Some nutrients additives. Depends exactly how you wanna go about it and the breed. And specific dog requirements your individual animal needs. But good kibble that you switch up and try and avoid any build ups of bad ingredients and other stuff is important. Chicken is also good for dogs but many are actually allergic. And pork sometimes has fats that dogs can't process properly. Fish and some game animals are particularly good. Some breeds need much much higher protein and fat then others. Barf is probably just the best general diet. But whatever the kibble instructions say half that. Replace it with real meat and other. Half the remaining kibble goes with meals of meat and other stuff. The rest is free range bowl snacks. 3 meals a day for large and giant breeds. Extra meat and especially raw fish for certain breeds. Wolf hybrids need fish and game meats and higher fat contents. Same with some other breeds. 6 feeding schedule for wolf hybrids that develop gorge eating issues seasonally before winter. Increase to what they would gorge themselves full on but done let them have more then normal meals portion wise in their stomach completely at any one time. Wolf hybrids sometimes need a raw diet. Some can function or dog diets. Most need a hybrid. Most can handle cooked meat diets. But some will not live full quality unless on raw and fairly wild diets. Deer rabbit fish.
Whoever recommended the soy kibble. Stay away from that vet. Snd recommend everyone else do the same. In that situation. You go to a bland but still high value diet for the animal something that won't upset them get them everything they need to recover. Pure meats. For some dogs cooked would be better than raw and some healthy seasonings and additions could be added to help but even just Plaines baked chicken fish or beef. Bone marrow broth. Or other broths with nice bits of meat. Nothing but some water the proteins and flavors and fats plus meats if you want. Depends on age and exact dog. Goat sheep bison or Buffalo meat, deer.
You cook the meat in these situations to avoid any Rae bacteria issues. Raw can exacerbate the issue in some cases unless you feed ultra premium quality meat that's human raw grade. Which isn't cheap. Cooking it is also a good way to trick them into thinking it's a table food treat. Makes it higher value for them. I'd use turkey. Fish. Beef. Chicken. Or aim towards the breeds more natural potential diets.
cats are full on obligate carnivores, meaning they should exclusively only be eating muscle meat, organs and bones compared to dogs who are omnivores and can better digest plant matter and have both plants and meat. this unfortunately means kibble and processed food for cats is even worse for them
Been feeding raw for over 7 years now never looked back! 2 cats and 2 dogs on it, never an issue. What brand do you feed? Didn't recognize it from the tub but looks great.
Our Lab is fed on part dry and part meat. When I can afford it I do like to get her the Different Dog (my fave) or Butternut Box fresh cooked and frozen food.
I am so glad you finally educate viewers about this topic. I advocate to all my dog owners friends to switch to dog raw food diet mix. Because is a big problem in North America is not controlled by FDA. Thank you 🙏
It depends on which kind of raw food has used, avoid chicken and brands too rich in cereals, look at the ingredients and at beef percentage and choose rabbit lamb boar or other similars and it should be OK.
Hi Anneka, was watching your video very interesting. Hows koyshi doing now..... diet play big part crohns disease or coilits whether animal or human.....
Is there a comparable product to ProDogRaw in the USA? My dog unfortunately suffers with IBD, just like Kyoshi, and I’d love to find her an alternative to kibble. Thank you!
Basically the same in humans. Even those of us who don't have celiac disease we could all do with eating less processed foods and grain based filler. I 'only' have IBS but do much better eating unprocessed meat and fish (raw and smoked if I can) than lots of bread and pasta that leaves me with horrible pain, bloating fatigue, skin problems etc.
I agree, but not completely! Reduce dry food a lot ! but not completely.! For example if they eat 20kg dry food per month, make it 20 kg every 3 to 4 months
I love to eat together with my dog. Cooked chicken is her favorite. When I start peeling the skin of, she gets nervous and when I mix the hot chicken soup with oats and meat and cartilage, she gets crazy. While she is great in hunting mice, she also eats them whole. (I dont!) And when I ppeel my potatoes, she also gets her share. She also gets cooked liver or heart. Sometiimes she gets raw meat or rumen. I always mix, wolves also feed on the things, that are easy to get and in some summers they mostly feed on mice. Dry food is sth I only use on vacation, when I have no time for making something good.
Not only dogs, cats too should eat raw meat with organs and bone
And ferrets!
My exFIL would bring kidney and organ meats from the butcher shoppe for my cat and she grew into a healthy beast-cat😂💗 She had always been the tiniest of the litter but grampa knew how to fatten her up the right way. She never had any health issues.
@@AlecElizabethYukii301 I didnt know ferrets eat meat
Ferrets are mustelids and not rodents or lagomorphs. Mustelids are a group of carnivores such as stoats, weasels, honey badgers, wolverines, mink and many others.
Like their wild relatives, the domesticated ferret is an obligate carnivore. So their diet should consist of whole prey items such as frozen thawed mice, chicks, quail and more. If whole prey isn’t available, then a more typical raw diet is done using resources designed for cats.
Meanwhile there are some people trying to feed a czech wolfdog vegan.
I get into arguments all the time with people who feed their dogs vegan. It makes me sad. :(
I guess feeding home cooked real food with much vegetables, even though its vegan, can be even more healthy then kibble..
But still add some meat and its 1000x better even ofcourse!
@@fiendeprez9051 Actually no. Dogs can't process that many carbs. I'd sooner feed my dogs Old Roy than any vegan food.
My monthly dog food bill has lowered exponentially since converting.
how do you gage how much to feed in a raw diet. Dry food is easy to measure out, is it the same feeding volume for raw as it is for dry??
@@shawncarter5619 BTW... there isn't much of a science to it. For me, I took a common sense approach. I started with a certain portion size. If I saw my dogs getting skinnier than usual then I increased the portion size and vice versa. Your dog will know how much it can eat. Some dogs will gorge themselves at first and throw up the food. But, that's them learning what their body can take in.
@@shawncarter5619 I have also posted a video of how I prep the food and also how I feed my dogs. I have modified my approach since posting that video.
@@shawncarter5619 One more thing... that guy (1st 508th Airborne) also has videos of him going to WalMart to purchase the food. He shows how cheap it can be compared to "high quality" dry or wet dog food.
Awesome! Thank you for the info.
Jeff K
I have no problem with olive oil to enhance the flavor.
Mix fresh vegetables, raw egg or a bit of meat in your dog kibble with bright his/her day
recommendation on the type of meat/veggies for those with small dogs? like shi tzu.
Can u send me the recipe please
Hi, I don't think it is advisable to mix raw food with cooked, I.e. kibble or other cooked foods as they digest at different rates so am not sure if this could cause problems for dogs fed that way. Maybe feed one raw meal and one cooked/dry meal.
How so cheap for 2 dogs
@@AK-uv8om i think because they don't weight much. My older husky is 43 lbs and the smaller one is just 35 lbs. Of course is you have bigger dogs, it will cost more to feed them
Finding a Vet that's not under the influence of the Pet Food industry is really hard- especially here in Australia.
And to clean a dog's teeth, big bones are great. Growing up, our German Shepherd had a beef bone once a week or so. We tried to get the biggest possible from the butcher who asked,
Do you have a lion at home?
Did you brush its teeth?
Bones can cause premature dental wear.
Thanks putting this video out there , I wish all dog owners would understand this.. It really does make a huge difference.
Stafs are know to get cancer! Not sure why. We lost our one at the age of 10 which is apparently good going.
Wet canned food is NOT the same as feeding raw.
It's important to also know the potential repercussions of feeding particular diets, especially later in life.
Anneka, Kyoshi is beautiful, sorry you two went through that horrible ordeal, but I'm glad you guys made it through. Must have been extremely heartbreaking. I panic when my dog has the hiccups, can't imagine what you went through. :(
So glad to see how well she bounced back. Your analogy of shredded wheat every day for life makes perfect sense. Can’t be good for any animal.
I am understanding the dogs's view now, what with covid here and stepdad working, not really able to go shopping for groceries so, it's been just the same thing these last some days. Pasta. plain, hmm...
I’ve fed my Maltese dry food for a long time but he’s old might try wet food now.
Thank you Anneka!!
GOD!!! She is beautiful!!
Anneka I mean.
Thx Anneka for a great video
👍😎🐶🐾
WE are what we eat. Isn't only true for Humans . Very Important vid. Thanks for posting !
Thank you madam!
My dog has the same illnes IBD, and it's quite difficult to find information about it.
I really appreciate your help!
Lovely wolf!
Take care.
You are welcome 🙏
Crazy to think vets would recommend dry food especially for a wolf dog, the worlds insane!!
They are shitty!!!!
This is also true for cats! I had the same problem with mine & dried food
It's true Dry food is bad for dogs, Please don't feed Ur pets dry food.
Thank God that she's okay
My puppers are more energetic, more healthy and has amazing appetite!
my pack of dogs have been on raw for 4 years now, and they are very happy and healthy. Dry food is not good. xx
Thank you, youre awesome...all you do.. chows are picky eaters, sensetive tummys..this helped...love ya girl...
Best decision directly after getting our adoption GSD after bad abuse by last owner. She is super lovely and hasnt had any diarrhea after raw.
This diet saved my older lab
Yes, that looks like it can kill me aswell. Beef all the way!
I honestly don't have a problem with beef as long as you see where it is coming from and what are the cows being fed... Never forget the reason why mad cow
disease started in the 90s was because people were feeding dead infected cows to other cows!
Lets cut the BS and go chill in my treehouse!
I have a high quality kibble as a backup, but even that leaves her stool bulky and soft
I feed her raw most of the time and her stool is small, dry and formed, almost like deer pellets, she smells less, her teeth have less plaque, and is happier
This is very eye opening thank you
As soon as I see the title, I clicked "like".
Thank you 🙏
Thanks so much for this very interesting and important video 👍👍👍🙏
Thanks ... Very educational
I am planning on slowly switching over idc what anyone thinks 💙
You gotta research your dry dog food. Many brands fill it with grains or even saw dust. Best dog food I ever found that my dogs love is Blue Buffalo Wilderness Salmon Recipe Grain-Free Dry Dog Food. Sure you can switch to a raw food diet, but that also creates it's own problems as well as risks.
My dog had the same reaction from the greenies. Like 20 different spots on the floor. I give him whimzees now agree with him very well.
Blueberries are good too for them frozen added to probiotic yogurt and probiotic dog treats
I’m getting a Rottweiler in a couple weeks, thanks for sharing this video.
A greetings from India
I’ve done something similar but not RAW. I’ve put both of my dogs on Pure an air dried food that you rehydrate with warm water. They love it and I no longer give them dry or wet food from pet stores. They get good and regular stool and no vomitting. So yes definiteley ditch thf dry food
you're right watch:
I feed my dog since I got him from
Spain raw meat and he’s 8,5 years old and way healthier then other dogs in his age 😁
Great. Cheers Anneka 👍 💯
Gee.. don’t have enough space to write about this.
This video came out 5 minutes ago and there's already 2 dislikes. Why???
That's because there are people that don't agree with giving animals real food... it's a brainwashed way of thinking for those that dislike the video.

You're cute, will you marry me even though romance makes me incredibly awkward?
Come to Bulgaria to see the karakachan shepard this is really big dog with sizes up to 80-85kg and up to 90cm tall
Another fab vid 💖 curious and will investigate whether this is something cats can suffer from too?
They can yes :) cats benefit from raw diets more than dogs do
@@AlecElizabethYukii301 That's good to hear 😅 will do more research but think we're definitely heading that way!
cats are full on obligate carnivores, meaning they should exclusively only be eating muscle meat, organs and bones compared to dogs who are omnivores and can better digest plant matter and have both plants and meat. this unfortunately means kibble and processed food for cats is even worse for them
Been feeding raw for over 7 years now never looked back!
Well, I will ask my vet.she is very professional and sure could give me the best advice.
Absolutely Amazing Truth! 💕
Thank you!
Which kibble manufacturer was it just curious ? Thanks
Had a collie who made it to 18 and spend all his life on dry kibble
Had a retriever that had diarrhea and allergies from kibble, he only made it to 12
I agree, but not completely!
Quick question!
Should I feed them cooked meat/beef/chicken/fish or raw?
Currently I cook 'em.
