      I don't know, but there were OBVIOUS white lines for the public to stand behind, and it looked OBVIOUS to me they were encroching on the soldiers doing their duty!
      The general theme of the video was very BIASED, "UK soldiers always loose their patience and react!"

    I think some Tourists think the Palace Guards aren't real soldiers.
    They are. Extremely dedicated ones and they are not to be messed with.
    You wouldn't go up to a Secret Service officer while he was protecting the POTUS, so why would you approach a King's Guard?
    Good video Amanda.

    The difference is that the Emergency services are obligated to try to avoid contact with you. The Guards Regiments are within their rights to walk over you if you don't move. If you complain about it, the best response you will get will be "Well, you should have moved, shouldn't you"

    I agree with you Amanda, it is rude to deliberately annoy people going about their business. I also think that some people do not realise that they are serving soldiers. Regiments take turns to guard the important buildings and people.

    I was walking past Horseguards one lunchtime a few years ago and a couple were attempting to take some photos, the woman was standing alongside the horse and stroking its neck, the horse lost patience and stamped a foot on hers. The Blues and Royals guardsman had a wry smile on his face and I think the horse was smiling as well as she hobbled off back to her man.

    I think the royal guard show a lot of patience and restraint. People forget that the guard are serving men, women & animals( yes people try to mess with the guards horses, I've seen it). They aren't tourist attractions. They are performing their duty of protecting the royal family and deserve respect whatever you may think of the royal family.
    They do however seem be nice to a lot of young children, especially when the children seem to show more respect than the adults.

    Brings back a memory of Windsor Castle when I was young , and mum eventually had to stand with me a respectful distance away , when the photo came back ( it could be a while in those days ) just a hint of a smile . These are real serving soldiers and guard duties at Royal palaces are just one of their assignments . Its got to be just as difficult , but in a completely different way .I'm sure most people respect them and what they represent .

    When I grew up, we just knew them as Guardmen and they were respected. I have always admired the mounted guards especially. We also have to realise these are serving soldiers and normally wear camo and can be found fighting in far away lands.
    My uncle was in the King's Dragoon Guards in WWII, sadly losing his life in Italy in 1944.

    What tourists don't understand is that these Queens Guards are active soldiers doing their job protecting the Royal Palaces / Houses and The Royal Family itself. They're not obliged to move when marching to their post or have people close them taking pictures. Would tourists do this to Chinese, Russian, or American soldiers? I don't think they would. People need to respect our British soldiers just doing their job.

Coldstream etc, though occasionally RAF, Gurkhas etc., They train for several months and if individual soldiers pass a rigorous test they will be allowed to take Guard duties.

    the Jews did not walkaway quietly, the was ordered to leave the grounds of the Tower of London.
    the worst place for tourists getting shouted at is Horse Guards Parade. as there are signs telling people not to grab the reins of the horses on duty at the front of the entrance. yet loads of english speaking tourists still do it. not only do they get shouted at, they also get a bonus of a kick up the arse from the mounted guard.

    It's the same with guards stationed on horses. Why on earth would you want to go up to what is essentially a huge animal and start posing, touching, pranking or thinking you are an expert or 'horse whisperer' which to me is insane. With the best will in the world while the horses are highly trained, they are still an animal at the end of the day and will react if they feel stressed, startled etc. Again there are usually signs indicating the horses may bite or kick but some people think they know better, even if the guard tells them to move, not to touch etc.

  • @sludgiebear
    @sludgiebear 11 місяців тому

    Our Royal Guard are recruited from our armed forces, and they're there to protect the Royal Family etc. Some may think they look silly in their tall bearskin hats and such, but these boys are trained and experienced soldiers. They're there with a duty of protection, not as a tourist attraction or gimmick. They deserve respect, and they will command it if need be. They will march through you or over you, as duty comes first, and looking out for someone in their way, or for someone just generally being a disrespectful tw*t, is not part of their duty. lol
    All that said, there are videos out there of some Guards breaking their composure: laughing, falling over, interacting with kids, etc. Some are fake, but some are real. As stated in the video you watched: "they're human too".

    There's a reason they make it to being Royal Guards, people should respect that. If they go too far, they will be ordered to back off in no uncertain terms - and rightly so. Also, people should remember that from the Guards' point of view, the person could pose a threat to security - they are Guards on duty, after all.

    Why did they show a Royal Danish guard at 4:40?

  • @irreverend_
    @irreverend_ 11 місяців тому

    They're disciplined. I don't think any shown there were angry, except maybe the one who punched someone which was not explained or mentioned. They'd walk through you if needed, but the "step back" is very much so they don't need to, or to set boundaries, not anger. If it was anger it wouldn't be so consistently the same phrase and intonation from every different guard. It's also worth noting that those are real guns, if you get handsy they need to keep you away lest you try to take the weapon, which even the most basic infantry will never allow you to get close to doing. Standing still and at attention like that for the extended periods they do is also far more physically demanding than most people realise. Try doing it for 30 minutes without moving yourself. Then try doing it in that clothing for an entire shift.

  • @johnfisk811

    These are real soldiers many of whom have seen active service not actors and not showmen. Look through more video's like this and you'll see that these "chosen people" can be seen more often, and not in a positive way. Obviously these jewels think they do not have to confirm to any other traditions or conventions then their own.... Integration can be hard if you're convinced everybody else is wrong!

    I too never understood why people try to annoy them, as far as I know their guns are loaded and they can be used, but aside from that they have the right move you out of the way by any means as far as I know, I've seen so many disrespectful tourists envade their space like they aren't doing a job, like they are some kind of fake guard just for tourists, they train and it's a rigorous thing just to be chosen, again just what I hear, If I ever come to the UK sure I'd love a picture but I'm gonna do it from a good distance. Oh and I don't feel the least bit sorry for anyone who gets knocked down by them, super funny to see.

    That's one way to put it Amanda, if an emergency vehicle is coming at you you move out of the way same for a Royal Guard as he has right of way. Love it but common sense!!!

    It just shows just how stupid some people can be. Touching a soldier on guard duty is really dumb. Normal people won’t touch other strangers much less touch a soldier. However I wouldn’t mind if Ms Amanda touched me. 😂 I’m not a guard. 😂😂😂

    Spoiler alert for Amanda: ( re: " nearly pooping his pants " ). Nearly pooping ones pants is a right-of-passage. ACTUALLY pooping your pants is just a bloke thing done at sometime over the course of a night out.

    This is why I don’t want to get a picture with the King’s Guard. I’m too worried that I will accidentally stand too close to one of them, and they would yell at me.

    Thankfully, most tourists respect the King's Guard. So they chuffing should, too. Would they disrespect serving soldiers of their own countries? These are highly-trained, highly-professional soldiers, every one serving their country voluntarily through choice. And who can be - and are - called to go into harm's way in service of their country at any time.

    Hi Amanda. 3 in a row. whats happening! not complaining though. I watch a lot of Royal Guard stuff on youtube, from Horse Guards Parade and some of the morons you see Amanda, makes your blood boil!!! these guys and ladies are real soldiers and trained killers, and deserve the utmost respect, as do the horses. Hoying it down with rain here! hows about you?❤

    These guards have a SERIOUS job to do, they’re not decorative set dressing to entertain tourists’ medieval fantasies. Anyone deliberately taunting them or being immature, deserves to not only be screamed at by them, *but also to be arrested with no warning* - I also feel a taser threat would soon shut down the stupidity.
    They’re defending our monarchy. Grow up and enjoy your sightseeing without being stupid.

    Let's prod the big bloke with the semi automatic rifle. People who do this are almost certainly spoilt and entitled and think the guards are tourist actors instead of trained soldiers.

    Having to stand there for hours in complete silence is bad enough but having idiots trying to annoy them they have every right to react when pushed too far, what these idiots don't realize is that they carry loaded guns and if they were to feel really threatened have the right to shoot.

    The Castles are the homes of The Royal family who live in them most of the time & have 1000s of years of history . We dont have to open the gates , We are very proud of them & like to show tourists what we have in our Country. All the Guards are serving militry who have been on active service all over the world . They see this job as an honour to do . The weapons on show are very real & the Guards behind the weapons are no fools . Come & be a tourist , not a mug & embarass your self

    In all honesty the guards in the video were pretty calm, at the end of the day how many of them tourists would like it if someone walked in front of them and touched them..... Respect if you want to receive respect, that's all they ask for

  • @michael7286
    @michael7286 11 місяців тому

    Many people don't know how to respect they only know disrespect. To be disrespectful to others is just sheer bad manners. It would serve the ignorant tourist right if they really really were to get on the wrong side of one of the Kings Guards. 🇬🇧
