Almost 10 years after you posting this and this video is (hopefully) going to fix the loud clunk I get when I begin accelerating. Rebuilt the whole suspension with 1a parts already, very satisfied, thank you!
Thank you for checking out our video. Normally rust on the oil pan and everything else you saw, will not effect the vehicle as most of these vehicles will have some form of rust on them since they could be 10+ years old.
1A AUTO ARE THE BEST. MOST HELPFULL INFORMATION ON THE WEB. THANKS SO MUCH VERY GREATFUL FOR MECHANICS LIKE YOU. tHIS IS THE ONLY VIDEO ON THE INTERNET SHOWING HOW TO DO THIS ON THIS CAR. SAVED ME ALLOT OF TIME AND MONEY!
I own a 95 cavalier and would like to thank you for these videos. This one and the one for the coil packs were very helpful. You guys should make a deal with Chilton to offer up videos like this that show step by step. Gotta do a power steering line but need a crowsfoot wrench to get it off from underneath I guess.
Great informative video. I appreciate mechanics sharing their knowledge, for that I thank you. The only thing lacking is perhaps some symptoms to why the mount was replaced. I have a knocking or more like a heavy clunk on a Cavalier when making slow, sharp rights and when accelerating rapidly from a stop. I think it might be that lower mount or perhaps an a-arm bushing ... from what I gather, the rear saucer a-arm bushings are weak.
If you are getting a ticking noise you need to definitely have that looked at. Worse case scenario is the timing chain is bad and you need to replace it.
You guys are freakin awesome! Love your videos! Do everything my self in my garage thanks to you guys.. 17 year old boy saving money by doing it myself!
If the issue is only when you are turning the issue is most likely going to be either with the axle or it could be with the transmission bearings on the right side.
Can you remove the Dog Bone completely for moving engine easier on the Upper Mount Engine replacement? I mean to move it back and forth when to align bolts for the new Upper Mount. Thank you for the great film.
Hi I was wondering if you had video on changing the transaxle mount on this model car? I have changed the upper and dogbone already. I am sure you already know but i am talking about the mount mounted inside the drivers side wheel well.
Thanks for your videos, I own a Chevy Cavalier and have been very useful to do maintainance for the car by myself. I post for a consult, when I'm driving and I turn left pressing gas pedal (i.e. like in a long curve)a noise appears, its a continous noise.......I heard that it could be the engine or transaxle mounts but im not sure, in your expertise what can be the problem? Greetings from Mexico! Thanks Carlos
@Trevor K It should be the same procedure. This engine mount also fits some of the 2.4 model years. Here's a link to them on our website with a complete vehicle fit list, so you can look up your vehicle. Hope this helps you out. www.1aauto.com/engine-mount/i/1aemt00032?UA-cam&VideoReply&ATony
I had a vibration noise that was a loud growl when accelerating from a dead stop. It was so loud inside the vehicle but not outside. The engine was moving back and forth two inches at least and the vibrations went right into the frame and steering column. The bolt sleeve was rubbing on the metal casing of the Torque Strut Mount which was causing all the noise. Now when I shift from drive to reverse to drive, the engine moves very little and the vibration, growl and noises are all gone.
Unfortunately we do not have a video for your application. We will keep this repair in mind for future videos. Thank you for watching! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
It may be a motor mount, you may also want to check the suspension pieces and also the front axles to see if they need to be replaced. Ball joints may also make that type of a sound. Hope this helps you out.
Depends on the year. For 2001 and earlier, that would be the Transmission Mount. The Engine mount is up top under the hood on the passenger/right side. Around 2002 or 03, they flipped the engines 180* so that the throttle body and oil filter were now all on the front of the car instead of against the firewall.
Is that the cradle? Or help the cradle cause just got my car inspected replaced wheel bearing and he said the cradle was cracking just wanna know if it can be fixed
Thank you for watching. This is a engine mount not the cradle. The cradle is what the engine and engine mounts sit on. Unfortunately we do not have a video for your application. We will keep this repair in mind for future videos. 888-844-3393

+Eli Alvarez Nope, as Mike explains in this video, because it's a stabilizer mount, it's not really supporting so much weight that we need to raise the motor when removing it. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com?UA-cam&CTA%20Comment&ATony 866-403-3393
i have a 1996 chevey cavleir and when u shift in to drive it shifts hard and the engine move back 2 or more inch what could be the problem even when the engiine is hot or cold it still does it could it be a mortor mount or a tramsmission mount
I have always been curious why Automotive technicians are so averse to using torque wrenches. The Airforce will ground a fleet investigating a Torque wrench out of calibration.

You may want to check the level of the transmission fluid to see if it's at it's proper level.

You will have to get the engine up in the air to access the bolts.
Great! I am about to replace all mounts. Thank you!!!
You may need to rock the motor back and forth a little as you wiggle the bolt back in.
You may want to check all of the motor mounts to see if they're worn out.
Does this keep eng from going back and forth or is there supposed to be some play in it?
It may be a bad motor mount if that's what you're referring to.

You guys need to do one for the trans mount to
My cavalier's dash shakes a lot. Also makes sort of a grinding sound when slowly accelerating. Could dismount be the problem?
Thanks this will help out a lot.

Is the motor mounts what makes a popping noise while hitting speedbumps and breaking? I recently changed my ball joints so its not those (05 Cavalier)

It may make a noise.
is the mount the same on a 2001 chevy lumina
Driver's side wheel well is that the transmission mount or engine on 2.2 4cyl Sunfire?

Anybody know of this is the same for the pontiac grand am se 1996??
Is it 2 dog bone mounts and the one on top?
What about a 94 Cavalier? Same concept?
+Greg Carter It should also be the same process for that vehicle. 1aauto.com
1A Auto Parts would this solve the vibration at idle? I was told it could be the harmonic balancer as well.
You may want to check the CV axle joints and all of the suspension and steering components for wear. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
