Ben Baler Geisha only dress that way when they perform or entertain clients.

Geishas only dress that way when working, but a senior geiko like Katsugiku may choose to work in white make-up and the long kimono or be more natural like this. Geiko over 30 y.o. may choose how to look and when she's over 40 much possibly she won't wear white make-up anymore, only if requested, but not as a rule anymore.

@@BenBaler She is wearing her hair in the yohatsu style which is how older geiko wear their hair. Younger geiko wear yohatsu for certain occasions when they are not in full makeup. Also, being older, she may be a jikata (non dancing musician) geiko and, therefore, not wear white oshiroi makeup anymore.

hi.I am jpanese man. she is not geish.she is ordinary woman who put on kimono. kyoto's woman love kimono and there are traditional industry in kyoto.
I think she is maser of sadou,kadou,kitsuke of kimono,or ownrr of kimono shop,japanese style tea shop, etc.
