I've always wondered that the only hero unit that doesn't have a strong attack is the aircraft carrier Tassadar. 8 interceptors, damage 8, like a regular aircraft carrier. Before going through the campaign, I thought it would be a huge aircraft carrier with 20-24 interceptors and about 10-12 damage. Thus, emphasizing that Tassadar has a powerful ship, ready to compete even with Hyperion Raynor.
i remember some dev saying at one point that the Carrier had to be entirely coded independently. every time they found a new bug with units and fixed it, the same bug would crop up in the Carrier and they'd have to fix it separately for the Carrier. i think its due to this being why the Gantrithor has normal Carrier Interceptors instead of its own Interceptors that have different damage, because they just really didn't want to mess with it too much out of fear.
Interceptors are more or less their own units, and Gantrithor deploys "normal" interceptors. They would have had to make "hero" interceptors to make that work. Possible, but I'll give the team the benefit of the doubt and say making a hero unit that creates hero units would have been a real pain.
@@ledpryr the issue is if you try to change what the Carrier or Gantrithor launch it gets buggy and weird or something (change the new launch unit's AI to that of the Interceptor, set up the requirements correctly, etc, etc), I don't remember exactly what happens but i remember it doesnt work as expected, and i think that's just due to the heavily hardcoded nature of the Carrier. i think it's not possible as-is, you can't modify the game data alone to make it work, you (or blizzard) would have to patch the game's code to make it work similarly, making new Carrier units that launch something other than the Interceptor is also currently not possible afaik (actually, im not sure if you even can set up new Carriers at all either)
