I attempted this with similar stencils, but mine came out angular and with more brown and tan, almost Multicam esque in pattern. Also, how do you prevent spray getting under the stencils?
The adhesive stencils shouldn't allow much underspray. If any, it will be in the tight contours. To help with this, we recommend using a hair dryer on the stencils once in place, to loosen them up and make them more pliable allowing you to press them into the tight areas. www.freedomstencils.com/blogs/quick-tips/controlling-underspray
@FreedomStencils Do you have any tips for fixturing pmags? They don't have the hole in the mag release area like steel mags. I have J hooks and alligator clips but wasn't sure if there was a better way. I have a few dozen I need to do as gifts for family, my stencils already showed up.
Yeah, they can be tricky. We rolled up some cardboard and taped it to hold form, then stuff it in the bottom of the mag. It holds pretty well and gives you a handle to use when you work, as well as a place to hang from.
Congratulations they look really awesome. What stencil do you recommend to paint Multicam camo? Once the gun is painted, Is there something like mat varnish to protect it from using and avoid chipping? Finally, would you mind to describe the last step, please? I mean to make the magazines look distress you dust them with black painting. Does it require to mix black painting with water? if so, what's the exact amount and proportion?
Hello. For the distressing effect, we dilute the Black with reducer if its thicker, but in most cases just pray it lightly as is. We don't use any clear coats of any kind afterward. Clear coats are intended to give finishers some layers to buff and polish for creating shine like on cars and motorcycles. Shine is not the goal for projects like these. Here is the stencils we would recommend for creating Multi: www.freedomstencils.com/collections/camouflage-stencils/products/multicolor-camouflage-stencil-kit
It depends on the paint or coating, but generally if we are flash curing we go about 5-10 minutes at 180 degrees and let cool for a couple minutes before continuing on. If not flash curing, then we wait a few hours. The coating should not come off. If it binds to the stencils more than the surface, then the surface prep was not good enough, or the coating wasn't cured enough. Hope that makes sense.
Both ways can work as far as the stenciling is concerned, but it does depend on the coating your using. Some coatings activate the base layer which helps them bind, but if its full cured it may not.

I love the BDU stencils. There are so many color combos that can be done with it. Keep the videos coming, always look forward to them.
We agree!!! And thanks for the support!!!
Glorious! Woodland gets screwed up all the time, but this is perfect! Great work!
Thank you. Glad you like it!!!
Look fantastic as always!
Always love the mild distressing.. such a great technique.
Those look great. That is just such a classic pattern.
You nailed it by dusting it with the black at the end. Very nice!
Thank you. We like that step a lot. Its a nice finishing touch!
That looks really nice, makes a world of difference.
Thank you. We love the BDU pattern!
Best bud camo I’ve seen
Thank. Glad you like it!
What colors did you use for this finish? to be able to practice in those shades in cerakote. thank you
Love it! Would you happen to know where I can get some of that green? I don’t think Brownells ODG is that “green”
Nice can’t wait for my stencils
Would love to see M81 Arid too!
Thanks! We will put that on our list!!! Hoping to start slamming vids this year!!!
Do you have a link to the paints?
Thank you. God's plaid is awesome
Same with a rifle?
Yes!!!
Can spray paint be used?
Yes!!!
Is there one that fits 308? Perfect rig ! Also in woodland !?!
It depends on what parts you are planning to coat, or how much surface. The large pack is designed to cover most full rifles.

This is cerakote, correct? Looks amazing. Takes me back to the color of BDU's I used to wear back in the day
If the base coat is black why do you have to paint the black on, instead of just using black mags? Would it matter if you didn’t?
Your going to want to prep the surface well for the new coating to take hold so the current color isn't really in play.

Just ordered some!!
Where can you get larger camo stencils? Like the original woodland pattern that reprif uses for m81?
nice work
Do you guys happen to sell the 556 pmag in black multicam

How long do you wait between colours to apply the stencil? Also does it pull the other layers of paint off when you peel them off?
It depends on the paint or coating, but generally if we are flash curing we go about 5-10 minutes at 180 degrees and let cool for a couple minutes before continuing on. @@FreedomStencils this will be cerakote H. What do you recommend?
@@barrylangston4475 You could check with Cerakote directly, but we flash cure.
For a distressed look, I like to go and use my mags.
That is always the best way!!!
Im sold. I was kind if intimidated but this process looks super easy with the stencils 🫡
can you do a paintball maker as well
Did you do a full cure before applying the black dusting for distressed look or was it a partial cure?
We do it after full cure!
What paint do you use trying start a little paint business for airsoft
We recommend Cerakote, DuraCoat, or KG!
Righteous
