- Replete with mystery and intrigue, the excellent story of the "Kharanta (Kharnta) Tiger" has been selected from Hugh Allen's wonderful book, The Lonely Tiger (1959).
Allen's writings are characterized by thrilling and compelling storytelling which are laced with polished prose of such precision and economy that is matched by few in this genre.
After a head wound received on the field of battle during WWII in 1942, leaves him out of active duty military service, Allen is hospitalized in India. Over time, he developed a fondness for the country and bought a huge estate in the Mandikhera village of Pipariya district, Madhya Pradesh in central India, where he lived for more than two decades.
With his sister Babs, he farmed the estate and settled down to a quiet, peaceful, and idyllic life. In between his farm work, he would find time for his nature walks in the forests surrounding his estate, where he would frequently encounter injured, wounded, or rogue animals. With his conscience clear, he would then give full reign to the hunting instinct and go after them to protect his farm and livestock.

Apologies for the long wait! The uploads should commence again at a more or less regular frequency.
Heartfelt thank you to all for your interest and engagement!
Thank you
No one can tell them like you do, very enjoyable. Thank you for your efforts to post these stories.
Glad to have you back.
You bring a real voice and a real passion to these amazing tales. So many others are using AI or similar computer generated voices and it is painful to listen to. Thank you many times over for sharing your splendid talents with all of us!
Welcome back, waited for very long.
Thank God. I’ve been listening to replays daily and almost messaged you yesterday to see if everything was okay. Welcome back (and THANK YOU), dude!
My pleasure Dylan and thanks so much for your comment!

Appreciate the support and gesture Luke!
This is a mere pittance in relationship to the happiness your narrations bring. Thank you
Thank you for supporting him! I love these stories and I wish that I had the money to donate. So thank you for your generous donation!! ✌🏼💖
@@YvetteArby it is my pleasure, thank you so much. Don't you love the narration, the inflection that he adds as he reads these amazing tales? You just don't get that from these bot voices so many other channels use
@@lgalardiyes you are absolutely right. Everything is right about Mr Singh's voice and his narration is the amongst the very very best.
Well thats nice and thank you as always!

What a long wait! 🎉
Indeed, it was! Thanks for commenting
Delighted to discover a new story read by you Mr. Singh...I've been listening to your older readings to the point of actually being able to pronounce the names of some of the villages featured in other stories...since I was raised with a heavy New York accent, I consider this a great personal achievement...haha...
Another great story Sir...🙏
Well, this is a first haha. I've never had anyone aspire to want to pronounce the village names correctly. Not sure if Im doing it the right way either. That's great to hear nonetheless. An Indian village name said with a New Yorker's accent would be something.
As always appreciate your comment!
Its raining and windy, I've got the electric fireplace on and a new Selvalore story.
Life is very good.
Thank you Mr. Russell! Always love reading your unique remarks.
Wonderful to hear from you as always. About to listen. Keep up the selfless work!

Btw can u do some stories from 'Tigerro' by Sasha/Sacha Siemel. He hunted Jaguars in South America during early twentieth century.

Odd that I got notification of your latest video from YT but not this one, even though I have the bell icon turned on. Thankfully this one showed up on the side while I was listening to the new one.

Thank you for the comment, Mr. Wortham!
@selvalore I was eagerly waiting for next upload. I have listened each of your videos multiple time. Even tried to find you in LinkedIn. Finally a lot happier for this video.
Thank you so much.
Thank you for saying that. It means a lot. I usually go with an abbreviated version of my name professionally.
As always, Great work Brother.
Glad you are okay, i have been concerned something happened to you 👍🙏
Appreciate the concern! Thank you for listening and commenting again.
good to see you back! Any chance for more Corbit stories?
Yes! I've been saving one of my favorites for the last. Should start on it soon.
I was starting to go thru withdrawals, thanks for the new one!!!!!!
Haha, good to see your name James! Hope all is well!
Thanks
Can we expect another gem of a story soon?
Soon
we missed you.couldn't believe my eyes when i saw you new episode.
Happy to be back and good to see your name on here too Aamir!
@@selvalore stay blessed my brother
Thank god you're back. I tried listening to other audio books on UA-cam, but in comparison to yours, they are all trash, and I hope you haven't had any trouble either!
Ha, it was just a self-imposed hiatus. Thanks for the comment!
Brother you're back!!! Last time you uploaded a video I was a bachelor 😅 now I'm married for 5 months
Ahh this is great news, brotherman! Thanks for sharing, wsh you the very best.
Mr Thanks you couldn’t possibly have any more leopard stories by chance or tiger… even sloth bears 🐻 those ferocious bruin
Of course there are many more. I'll get to them eventually!
🎉
😊🎉❤
For us you are sometimes Jim Corbett and sometimes Kenneth Anderson!!
Well that's a lot to live up to! Thanks for the comment
I have purchased the book Lonely Tiger by Hugh Allen. He settled in M.P. after Independence buying an Estate.
Indeed, you are right! Enjoy the stories.
🐅🐯👍
I wonder if Jim Colbert would have figured out that about the thorn I. The tigers pad
He probably would have too. The expert that he was in reading jungle signs! Thank you! Always great to see you in the comments
Quite a mystery!
Ajax and Mars are wonderful characters, are they in other tales as well?
Not that I recall so but the character of Bhutu appears in an earlier of Mr. Allen's story of the Laughing Leopard, which wil be read in due course too!
@@selvalore we all look forward to that.
Can anyone please tell what all the books I can buy which are tales of man-eaters and from where? I already have Jim and Anderson collection.
If its stories about "maneaters" specifically, the only other book currently in print besides Corbett and Anderson would be JH Patterson's Man eaters of Tsavo. Highly recommended!
Why is the channel named Selva? Someone from TN..just curious Singh sir
Haha! Selva is spanish for Jungle! The name is an ode to Mr. Corbett's book.
Please record the villain of windy valley by Kenneth Anderson
Sure, current project is on a Kenneth Anderson story from the sane book. I'll get to the story you mention at some point as well.
You want your ashes in the river, not deposited by a squatting tiger!
Wow. Kenneth Anderson puts way too much explanation into his stories as compared to Jim Corbett who does explain but more simply.
Not very interesting
That's still ok, thanks for stopping by
Truly hope everything is going well for you and this text finds you and yours well and good
Hey Ed, good to see your name again and thank you!
@selvalore it's good hear your voice again sir
Thanks
Thank you!
