Best looking saloon car ever produced in the UK.
My first car back in 1985 was a 1974 Mk3 1.6 base. £160 from the auctions, running like a pig. Lifting the bonnet in the dark revealed an awesome fireworks display; new plug leads cured both issues. Regret selling it 2 months later (for £265) but it had done its job and the boot floor rot had already set in. It was a great pre-university summer holiday car and I did about 4,000 miles in it at an average of 29mpg.
Mk3 definitely the best the GXL being my favorite also like the 1600E mk2
I love my MK3 Estate
6.22 Camshaft not crankshaft ! 😅
Camshaft oil spraybar
Another good video 🚗🚙🚘👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My Cortina rear wheel arches were rotten then I got the car .. unfortunately the car was written off after someone ran into the back off it
Scary stuff. The MK3 looks great but has a habit of rusting er, everywhere!
Also, the following components may fail: all of them!
Best be handy with the spanners!
Basically, the whole thing is liable to rust 😃
Umm Mk'3's. Mine had to have a new rear diff, clutch, radiator and camshaft.
If it sounds solid it’s filler.
If it pings it’s metal.
I don't think bright red suits it, anyhow I wonder why door seals are made but not windscreen rubbers?
So what's with the Cortina. It wasn't much when it was built
It was my first car, provided me with some of my happiest memories with mates and girlfriends so what’s with the Cortina, to some of us quite a bit actually.
Best looking Cortina by some margin imo. A mate of mine has a 2 litre GXL in the early 90's and while it had decent performance it roll a hell of lot when cornering enthusiastically. It I bought one of these I'd have to fit some aftermarket dampers.
