Just wanted to say thanks for this video. Helped me swap the screen/lid on my MBP 2016. Just a note: near the end you skip over some of the steps to reconnect the screen: just after the antenna is reconnected you jump to the battery. Not a big deal as I went back to the beginning of the video and used the disassembly steps to get the screen back together.
Could you please tell me where did you get the replacement screen/lid from?

we made it work! thank you for your video! took us 6 hours to replace the screen and we only use your vid as a guide. although it doesn't close enough. when i close the screen, it hangs a little. I don't know where the problem is. It's hard to go through to the disassembling it again. any tips on that so it would snap close fully when screen is fold down? aside from this we made the LCD worked again. thanks for your video!

For those of you who don't want to do this; Just rub some of the reflective coating off the screen, then bring it to Apple and tell them you have some issues with the reflective coating.
There is a replacement program availble which also covers accidental damage (cracks/etc)
They will replace the screen for free.
how would you go about rubbing the reflective coating off
@@kioshi1474 I use a polish compound for metal, but Listerine/Aceton would also work but not as effective.

@@HeTake123 you're a lifesaver bro, thank you ! just booked an appointment at the Genius Bar. On the phone they said they'll replace the screen for free so long as there is no accidental damage, won't the hairline crack on my screen count as accidental damage and void the replacement ?
@@kioshi1474 A crack is accidental damage, but when you get to the Genius Bar, and if they still say they won't cover it then tell them this:
OP1564 Section 1, Paragraf C states that screens with accidental damage are also covered under this replacement program.

Nice video. I have the same Mac and just realised that the display cables and the backlight cables (25:06) are exposed on the outside of the computer. You can see those four cables when the computer is closed and flipped on the front. when you closely down the fan exhaust, right at the middle of the black plastic bar, those four cables are exposed, and can easily be damaged when cleaning out that groove. I have nearley broke min, by bending the edges of the wires, when i was cleaning dust out of that groove withe a small stick with some cloth on.
That is correct. Those flex cables are exposed. But the clearance between the screen and the body is so small that it’s almost impossible. Thank you

Hello. I have trouble on my Macbook Pro 2017, touch bar. A year ago, it starts flickering. I do not have enough money to fix it by LCD replacement. So, what I did was when the screen starts to flicker I just close it for a few hours and use it again. It takes only 15mins before flickering again, so, as I student its kinda hassle. Then, there was this online friend of mine who told me that I do not need to have an LCD Replacement, I just need to fix the flex. So, I want to ask you, if ever I fix the flex on my laptop is it a good move? Or do I really need to have an LCD replacement?

It is recommended that you use 304 stainless steel bar with a thickness of 0.01 mm to separate the screen glue better

I tried to figure out, what to do by all the steps you showed in this video... still not quite sure what and how I get underneath this hinge-cap... could you give me a hint? thx a lot

Are those screws under the screen fixing the hinge too, or only the panel?
My MBP 2016 has a loose hinge to but not sure how to make it more tight without buying a new screen....

After i replaced my screen (i purchased another on ebay. I purchased a full lcd with bezel and everything so it was just remove the old and install the new ) but after i did that. The light. For keyboard doesnt. Turn on. And the option on setting/keyboard does not appear, its there a flex or conector that i have to check? Keyboard works fine. But light on it doesnt come on

If you mean the rest of the computer, the answer is yes but you would have to disconnect the LVD's cable inside the laptop.
i have heard replacing display on your own can trigger t2 switch whic may render your machine inoperable.

Cool video! Could you please tell me what order the backlight film goes in? There are 4 or 5 pieces of film that go in between the LCD and the back cover and I;m not too sure what order they go in. Thankyou
There is no real way to tell you the order of the sheets because some of them look very similar. If you do remove them to say replace the LCD backlight/ camera flex, you need to note carefully their order and orientation.

I know this is fairly old but recently my phone like slid on my laptop and broke the part next to where the MacBook Pro writing is, the screen is fine but if I move it too much or touch it lines will appear. when I go get it fixed will they be repairing the whole screen?
I don't think so. Maybe the LCD connector got damaged too and has to be replaced.

Before testing the new display, did you replug the battery board data cable and the battery power connector? Can you power the MacBook Pro on without those connected? Or do you damage the device?

they are like 300-400$ if you get the housing included.
All this when it could have been free through Apple? Just rub some of the antireflective coating, then take it to Apple and tell the coating has rubbed off by itself, they will replace it for free even though the screen is cracked...

My screen is not working, i did not hit it in any way, i just closed it and opened it later and found that the screen was grey and had vertical multicolor lines, as i move the pointer i can see one of these lines move (vertically), do i have to get my screen replaced? :(
