@@stevethomas-cc5lz I share your fears exactly. U.S. history no longer is seen as something to praise or celebrate. Any expressions of patriotism or positive interpretations of our past will become controversial, politicized, & attacked immediately. Whatever events ARE planned will be downplayed & localized with no national coverage. Communities should expect ridicule and/or zero-publicity from the media. I don't think we can expect even a brief fireworks display anywhere this go-round.

I was 12 and have GREAT memories of this time. This was when America a much different place, a better place. My mother made costumes and dressed the part for a parade in our town. Then we all went to the town baseball field and watch wonderful fireworks. These celebrations went on for several weeks and I’m so glad I lived back when things were so much better than what they are today. God bless our country and God bless this new generation.

When the US was founded, the Britain was the Kingdom of Great Britain. In 1801, it joined with Ireland to become the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and after 1922, it was the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, so its a different name. China isn't even close to being the same country it was when the US became an independent country as China was called the Qing Dynasty and was an imperial dynasty, eventually becoming a republic in 1912, and then a communist state after 1949. The France of today also isn't even close to the France of 1776 as France was a monarchy at the time that eventually got overthrown and replaced by many different republics until we got the France of today. Russia was the Russian empire at the time of American independence and the Russian monarchy got overthrown by communists in 1917 and became the Soviet Union which eventually collapsed in 1991, creating the Russia of today. All of the countries you've listed have changed significantly ever since American independence and experienced major government changes.
