This is legitimately sad. There was a high water mark in gaming, online culture, from about 2007-2012 when Halo 3 came out, through Cod IV Modern Warfare, MW2, BFBC2, BF3, to Skyrim. All the games in between. I will never forget the night Mw2 came out, standing in a huge line at midnight outside of a Gamestop in a regular suburban strip mall, going home and getting online at 1am, and seeing literally millions of concurrent Mw2 players on Xbox 360, and feeling like I was part of something. People will say we are nostalgic for these times only because we were young. Not true. I was almost 30. Things have changed. Now we are all atomized. The games started being trash. Nintendo and Sega Master System was my childhood. I've seen things come... and things go... and all the things that have gone, I miss them all. (Except E.T. The video game)
The plug and play simplicity of the Xbox 360 was golden Honestly miss the avatars, the sounds, the menus, all of it. Ripping cds onto it, then playing songs while your gaming… the features were limitless
I wish I could see my 8 year old self playing Arkham city and just stop and sit next to him just for 5 minutes. And just really appreciate what we had for what it was.
I was 12 when I played Arkham City and when I finished it I thought, "this is the peak of the superhero genre of gaming." Over 10 years later and I still think it's the best superhero game and the best Batman game ever made.
God the XBOX 360 menu brings back memories! This is why you used to buy CDs. When the store is gone, the ability to download games is gone. Now that games are purely online, gaming companies can just take the game YOU BOUGHT right out of your hands. Gaming Company thinks a console is getting too old? Yoink! Gaming services and servers offline, now you are out of luck.
Wait until you realize that most games released on discs have that tiny contract that says "if we dont want you to use it anymore, you aint gonna use it." and that part almost makes its 15th birthday as well - if anything the shutdowns preserve loads of games on disc as there'll be no more updates that could make a game unplayable, one of the key reasons why games often come out bugged - "You may factory reset your console to play it again, but you'll play the unpatched version". The sole difference between digital and disc is that you possibly can play an unpatched version after they took it away, and I'll be honest: I'm not wasting space in my house for what has been an expensive coaster at the end of the day. What you're describing is overall an issue with licensing, not with it being digital (a majority of games that you're actually having the license to use it with no arbitrary expire date at some random point are solely available digital on top).

Even if PS3 or Wii was your childhood and not Xbox, this is still a sad day for any gamer. Games and history being lost sucks.
All 3 were my childhood 😢😢😢

Amen, I went through steam the other day looking for some old games from a company that's defunct but their properties are owned by 2K now. Can find like 4 games on steam they released like 20 pc games. Its sad because the only way to still experience anything from those games is watching old low quality videos of it and listening to the OSTs.
I know
Nintendo and Sega Master System was my childhood. I've seen things come... and things go... and all the things that have gone, I miss them all. (Except E.T. The video game)
The plug and play simplicity of the Xbox 360 was golden
Honestly miss the avatars, the sounds, the menus, all of it.
Ripping cds onto it, then playing songs while your gaming… the features were limitless

I wish I could see my 8 year old self playing Arkham city and just stop and sit next to him just for 5 minutes. And just really appreciate what we had for what it was.
I also wish for that and also playing arkham origins.
Why don't you just play the game now? I still play mine.
Man. 8 years old playing Arkham city? I was 18 and it was one of the first pre orders I got. I loved every minute playing it on my ps3 and Xbox 360.
I was 12 when I played Arkham City and when I finished it I thought, "this is the peak of the superhero genre of gaming." Over 10 years later and I still think it's the best superhero game and the best Batman game ever made.
You do know, physical media is still a thing? Yeah, that includes Arkham City
@@Unknown_GeniusYou still have the unpatched version, and most of the time release versions actually worked, unlike modern games

Would be cool
I think that happened sorta with High Moon's Transformers games (War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron) not sure if it was taken down or not though, but there was a mod for PC and PS3 so that you could play online in those games

Regarding this 360 game issue, this is the only solution:
*All types of intellectual property (IP) laws must be fully abolished immediately, in any and all jurisdictions worldwide.* All IP laws are extremely unethical for humankind.
Against Intellectual Monopoly is the most informative book humanity has on the subject now. Against Intellectual Property is _another_ incredible essay, but it’s written from a right-libertarian perspective so if you’re, like me, not right-libertarian you’ll have to read with an open mind and extract what’s helpful. _Only_ these two texts are the gold standard when it comes to intellectual property.
