    For an expert developer, this is a piece of cake. Because this tools is going to help the expert writing code faster, as they already know what the answer is, they just want to be more productive.
    For someone learning how to code, I'm afraid this will remove the hard process of search, try, fail, repeat until you get on top of things.
    However, juste because experts today learned a certain way, doesn't mean there aren't any other ways.
    Let's just hope this tool will enable fast learning rather than blindly depending on its output.

    • @MauroC74
      @MauroC74 2 роки тому +25

      yeah, i agree, it's great for beginners because it helps you learning almost everything and it's great for expert developer because it boosts productivity BUT it's not a magical wand that makes you a programmer (or whatever) without some effort, people should understand this. And it requires asking the right things in the right way.

      Great comment. I really hope that new developers still take the time to understand the fundamental concepts behind what chatgpt is spitting out. This is important because it is not 100% perfect. You will still need skill to debug or tweak for desired output. If you do not have this skill you will not make it far. Coding is only small part of development, critical thinking & analysis is true developers greatest strength.

      Maybe learning to code with chatGBT will be like learning to read bylearning to recognise words by sight and work out if same rules can be applied to other words with similar spelling e.g lead and read or resume ( for a job) and resume ( begin again). With learning sources like Stack Overflow, learners already copy, paste, test and adapt code and synthesise parts together. Novice coders learn how to be more precise in their internet searches early on and they will do this with ChatGBT.

Instead of work shopping blog post ideas for hours, we give a detailed prompt with a direction, refine the list, prompt title ideas for each of the shortlist options and even go as far as prompting a suggested structure for each option. To be fair most of the times it will give you answers and code similar to when you google it. But as you interact more with it, it really helps you to understand and point you to the right direction. It is still young with lots of data to process, but would be interesting to see when it matures.

    • @kaipn9763

      Agreed. A single standalone question can be googled to find out the answers. But it's never that simple, we have follow-up questions like trying to understand how something works. This is where ChatGPT stands out and its best trait is, it "remembers" the questions you asked earlier in the conversation and drives you in the right direction.

      Coding is to a large degree an art of writing down the requirements in a specific programming language. Code IS the requirements, in it's essence. It would be extremely troublesome to write it all down in a natural language most of the times - or you would have to be so precise and systematic, that it would be easier to just write the code. AI can produce a lot of things, but it can't read your mind and produce what you need by chance. Sure, it could be helpful, but the programmers are there to stay.

    The most notable feature of this technology is its ability to efficiently process and condense large amounts of information. It would be fascinating to examine the correlation between the integration of technology in education and academic performance, specifically with regards to grades in schools at all levels. If technology is utilized primarily for writing assignments and conducting research, it stands to reason that grades would improve and graduation rates, particularly for higher level degrees, would increase. However, it raises the question of the significance of these degrees in a world where AI has the capability to outperform and outpace human abilities, as demonstrated by its success on professional exams such as the bar and medical exams.
