Every time the neighbours child would play the recorder, my Samoyed would howl. After each howl he would get this look, as if to say “I don’t know what came over me, I just had to do it”
Lol! I should try a recorder. My newer youngsters don't howl like these did, the two best howlers have now passed, and the third howler is 12 and pretty deaf so doesn't do it as much anymore. My yodeler still only manages to yodel... the new kids BARK instead
OMG!... Your Samoyeds are so GORGEOUS!... Must take you for ever to keep their coat so beautiful!... Such beautiful dogs and so friendly and good with children!... Mine was always following my little sister, my little cousins and the neighbours' kids around to keep an eye on them… If their is one breed I would recommand for a family with young children is a Samoyed so long as the family has time and energy to take care of their beautiful coat and give them a lot of exercice...
Dogs have much better hearing than humans and hear a higher vocal range. It's a form of communication. Spitz dogs are also known to be vocal; probably because they usually are known to work together with a pack.

Yes, I love the beautiful singing. My two best singers have passed, and my two younger dogs don't sing much, if at all. I miss it.
