Truly excellent, thank you. As you said, I’ve watched several other reviews which have helped narrow my choice down to this Otofix tool. Your video helped me better understand the criticality of a DoiP scan tool for my 2017 Range Rover Velar. For the money, the range of hot functions, including those for my air suspension, are superb. Thank you again. A really worthwhile 30min watch. I owe you one!

Thank you, I have been watching reviews of all the deferent scan tools to help me decide which one to buy. Every time I watch one it confuses me more😅
You made it clear for me now.
You’re right no one talks about the protocols and deference between them. Instead they’re explaining how to unpack and what you find in the box!!

I must admit out of all the UA-cam mechanics you seem the most honest and unbiased i do really rate your opinion as you’re not out flogging gear you got free , nice one 👍🏻😃

Interesting stuff Dave. VCDS is my go-to because of the volume of VAG vehicles I do but Autel Maxysis is the go-to for anything non VAG. I have the same Snap-On Verus Edge but I gave up paying the licence for it not long after I got Autel. Autel licence is up in Feb so I’ve got a decision to make. Probably going to get an Autel MS909 as I can reasonably justify the £3k over the next 2 years and I like the Autel I have. Didn’t know about the bypass for FCW; could be handy for the small volume of them that I see. Thanks for sharing 👍

Great video Dave , Sandy will be jealous , as you say , no 1 tool does everything 😅, just drives you mad swapping scan tools 1/2 way through a job as it wont talk to what you need to , nice piece of kit for Fiat /Chrysler vehicles , I've seen on flea bay you can buy an adapter lead for Autel scanners for around a tenner ,(will probably work on most )👍👍👍

Hi Dave great video as usual i have a ms 908 and my screen went as well, i put a new one in mine it is quite stright forward just watch when you separate it there is a short ribbon connect so don't pull it stright apart or you could damage it, keep up the good work mate

Valid points dave. I had the v+ but I did find the specs was limited, even with an extra SDcard it was not stable. So did end up with thinkcar pros and it have worked good. But yeah will see what update price is rised to when it's time 😅 cheers.

That little otofix looks fairly capable Dave 😎 back on to the price of updates, I’ve got a snap-on Apollo D8 and that costs me £82 each month to keep it up to date. I also use VCDS on a daily basis for vag stuff and it’s free updates too 😅
    Derek.

Hey Dave, love the videos. I'm in the market for a new scan tool. Own a few VWs but don't want to be limited by VCDS. Do you think the D1 or D1 Pro would cover the VAG bases? Or is VCDS the only way to go?

Well, I can tell you for free that these things fix cars in most cases and this is from a personal experience that almost cost me a fortune.
    1. My 2003 Mercedes Gwagon G55 was diagnosed with a gearbox problem and it needed a replacement. It would cost around $3,000 to get a used one. So, abandoned the car at home for 9 months. One day I met a guy with a think car diagnostic tool and he said he could check the car again. He did and reprogrammed the gearbox and I saved 3k and it hasn't faulted since then.
    2. My Ford Fusion 2015 had a steering issue and would not turn. The Mechanic told me we needed to replace the steering rack for around $350. I called the same Guy who fixed the Gwagon gear, and my greatest surprise he reset the steering rack again saving me $350. Mechanics can be dodgy at times. These tools can reset/reprogram faults. Other times it would direct you to fix a fault.

As stated in the video, scan tools do not fix cars, they are only a tool. This is not a ThinkCar and does not do programming, again as stated.

I am between otofix and topdon, but i think i will go for the otofix. I had used in the past, the same launch scanner you have, but i didn't like the menu/PID and how it works. Not that is not good scanner, maybe mostly was me,the way i am thinking, my logic, the way i am working, wasn't that friendly to me, to my philosophy.
The last few years, where i work, i am using the Autel Ultra, menu and philosophy is very close to me, if i try to find something in the scanner, like a coding or something special ,even i haven't seen this feature before, i know were to find it in the menu. so i am very familiar with the Autel menu. otofix for me i think.Topdon more video in the internet that may help you.
