@@Red_1911 Jacqui's chapter in MK11 seems to suggest that Noob is still somewhat salty about it. Not only did Kronika promise his own army of darkness, Noob hoped that his "unjust" death would be prevented. p.s. I'm not suggesting that his death wasn't unjust with the quotation marks. This is how Noob himself referred to his own death. If he can admit that his death was unjust then he's probably still salty about it.
that was disappointing, you couldn't at least have scorpion and noob saibot, get a proper fight or interaction netherrealm? at this point I think ed boon is tired of MK,and he's milking it until he's done.
He is though. But only in pre-fight dialogue with Raiden. He actually even says what he was "killed unjustly" to which Raiden replies what Scorpion lost his trust to which Noob in return replies what "this is not justice". He even considers thanking D'Vorah for killing Hanzo, but at the same time lashes out at her for robbing him of his vengeance. I have no idea why they didn't add a similar piece of dialogue in story mode, but then again it seems what story mode and pre-fight dialogue was written by completely different people (who still share complete lack of knowledge and understanding of MK lore).
The Fact that Noob Saibot never won a fight in the New timeline is absolutely disheartening, He's one of the Coolest Characters in the MK Franchise and he's being treated like a Jobber.
Baraka, Reptile, Ermac, Sheeva, Kano, Mileena, and even all the new jobber characters from MK11 who have really cool ideas and more were all wasted as well, which is a shame as they are some of the coolest characters in the franchise. The villains always get the short end of the stick.
You know you're still under-cutting pre-death Bi-Han. In mythologies he defeat Pre-specter Scorpion, 4 elemental gods, Post-specter Scorpion, 3 demon assassins, and an elder god. It took Liu Kang 4 games to do all that and Bi-Han did it in one.
A lil' correction here, Bi-Han never defeated Shinnok. He merely stole his amulet and then fled. So, yes, Bi-Han is clearly a force to be reckonned with but this battle is one he never won (and, understandably, never tried to fight).
@@outis439-A Well I'm only taking the canon into account here. Canonically speaking Bi-Han never killed Shinnok. Indeed it can be done in the game, but canonically it never happened.
Could also work with ( character below) but with minors changes. In 11 roster. Liu Kang and Shang Tsung Sub-Zero and Scorpion Scorpion and Noob Jax and Jac Sonya and Cass Black and Cass Raiden and Sand Man Khan and Khan Jade and Kitana Frost and Sub Jon and Kano Jon and Noob
That's a good idea I wonder why they didn't do. For IJ2, they made premier skins for some characters like Green Lantern, Black Lightning and The Flash. Makes me wonder why they never did it. Could have had different dialogues too.
@@pearsemolloy9656 New timeline bullshit in the Original he beat sub zero in every encounter and dude No Jax is far weaker than any of the Ninja's Jax plays hands with Kano
In defense of Bi-han, if I had to fall off those platforms in the Air temple, a thousand or so times, I'd want to delete all the realms after that, too.
Both of y’all are right. Tbh I was interested in the story but now it is just boring and missing some characters in the story once again. Smoke, rain, etc....
@@Prince-Shogun Depends on how bad your writers are. Reboots are generally reserved for when they've written themselves into a corner and can't get out. It's the result of a lack of care and attention to detail.
@@yutro213 I think you're on to something. Concerning storyline only, it seems that the added priorities towards Injustice along with MK seems to have affected how the stories are. I can't be the only one that watched MKX's story and thought, gee this seems JUST like Injustice's storyline. With I2 being a thing. It makes the storytelling and effort on MK less optimal and we feel like we are getting the exact same game
@@computationjix428 You're not the only one. Ever since mk vs dc NRShas been recyclig the story structure of that game. After mk 9 we had injustice and the future mk games felt more and more like a character and setting swap that retains the "time traveling good/evil character versions" trope. MK feels like a reskinned variant of Injustice, similar plots, tropes, guest characters (from mk in injustice 1 and 2) and even costume mechanics (armor and gear). At this point its hard to identify the difference between the two other than character and setting design (Takeda's city in his mkx chapter perhaps could be a previous asset from injustice or from its cutting room floor).
Anyone who's played MK Mythologies: Sub Zero would know that Bi-Han is awesome. I mean, dude not only defeated Scorpion, Quan Chi, and Fujin, but he also potentially defeated Corrupted Shinnok back in the Netherrealm. Cassie and Johnny Cage are so proud, talking about how they kicked Shinnok's ass, but it was Bi-Han who did it first. It's sad that he becomes a jobber in the new timeline, both as Sub-Zero and as Noob Saibot. The dude was one of MK's signature characters and one of the oldest fighting game icons, and he gets treated like Team Rocket for the new timeline.
The MK11 Bi-Han is a present version apparently, because he knows about the soulnado incident and the timepoint of the past versions is before Kung Lao's death
Bi Han got ruined by poor writing and poor execution. Bi Han should have killed Hanzo Hasashi in MK11 not D'VORAH. Let me say this again, Bi Han kills Hanzo Hasashi. Not D'VORAH! Netherealm Studios ruined most of the story in Mortal Kombat. Nice shout out to Fighters Den man.
Well, here in Brazil this is a cool reference, because Noob's brazillian voice actor is the same as Kratos in God Of War 4,and "I am become Death, destroyer of worlds." Is what Kratos says in Ghost Of Sparta
To be fair, he and Cyber Sub-Zero had a good interaction back in MK9. Probably some of NetherRealm's best writing. They should have done more with that.
The fucker quoted Oppenheimer, I cannot tell you how loud I cackled when I heard him say that. He's so goddamn edgy in 11, it is ridiculous. It was interesting at first where he betrayed Kronika because he figured she would betray him, but rather than keep that going where he's either extremely paranoid all the time or, like Shang Tsung, is typically untrustworthy, they made him into another 'i Am DaRkNeSs InCaRnAtE' villain.

How can we progress the story if the playable characters lose...? Let us play as the villains, not just villains who are about to become good guys or almost become good guys or good guys about to turn bad and use gimmicks like the status effects in MK9's Test Your Luck, Injustice's mini games and Injustice's and MK 11's ability to swap characters as well as Smash Bros Brawls ability to choose a side to make a story that is not just dictated by who's chapter it currently is and to show off all your characters in fun and unique ways to make them look impressive and cool instead of pointless jobbers. NRS: .....but, if we do all that, players wouldn't be able to get use to certain characters as we'd have to swap between characters a lot and also have moments where its not just straight fighting gameplay so they can't learn the characters... Me: Its fucking storymode, its about telling a story, arcade mode and online play exist for people to learn a specific characters, the story shouldn't be limited just so you can let the players get used to certain characters. NRS: ....... Me: Seriously, almost all your new and returning characters are worthless jokes due to your current writing and chapter based stories, why should anyone care about Noob or Kabal if they weak jokes now?
@@naos8116 We're meant to sympathize with him more than Mileena. We either play the good guys or people who fall from grace or are still allies to the good guys. Up until Aftermath, we'd never play as Shao-Kahn. NRS needs to let us play the clear villains more often so we get to use more of the characters and the clear antagonists aren't useless jobbers.
I agree on all levels. Just because Noob Saibot has a one dimensional look does not mean he should be a one dimensional character. I'm surprised that he would not have greater ambitions. When he was still alive he wanted nothing to do with serving Quan chi or Shinnok. At least with Scorpion, Hanzo still had a sense of self. Bi-Han doesn't seem to have a sense of self at all. I would imagine that he would hate his brother for teaming up with Hanzo and forming an alliance with their rival clans. Why wouldn't he try to rule or destroy both of them. What about gaining more power by trying to once again steal Shinnok's amulet to gain greater power. If you're not going to redeem Bi-Han then fine but don't reduce him to nothing more than a punching bag.
With what hes been gone through in mk9-mk11 i don’t think he can steal the amulet because raiden has the amulet. If he try to steal it then raiden would probably beat his ass out due to the fact he lose to sonya and jacqui 🤦♂️
Whats starting to become clearer, to me at least, is that Netherrealm really do not understand the core of any of their characters or history. If they do, they have a blatant disregard for it. Outside of Jon Tobias, it just feels like none of there creative team cares about telling a coherent story. And the messed up part is it's not that hard to do, and only strengthens the overall presentation. When folks say story doesn't matter in fighting games, it's alot due to the fact that fighting games have set such a low bar for care, and thought into their stories, thats it's become the standard. A reputation of mediocracy as the expected norm. Fatality indeed.
When john tobias left the story telling started to take a nose dive. He was the driving force behind the plots and character developments. I honestly wish he'd return to write the story for the games cause i guarantee he'd dish out a masterpiece for us.
Kuai Liang: ''BROTHER! Where have you been all this time??'' Bi Han: ''Waiting in the shadows.......of this fridge right here, to have a quick fight with you and then dissapear from story mode. Oh, but I have a cool new Dr. Claw voice.''
Wow when you find the inconsistencies and contradictions of the story and lore within the game itself. But of course Netherrealm just wants us to not pay attention to that important stuff because oh boy people's favorite fighting characters are just here because why not
What's sad is a good number of MK fans are like that. Many of the MK11 defenders knew they couldn't justify the story, so they just fell back on mocking people for caring about story and character in a fighting game.
@@jeggsonvohees2201 I hate the "it's a fighting game why take it seriously lol" argument, like yeah MK's canon is a fucking mess but that's no excuse for them not to put effort into it
@Gojira Sentai To be honest, I could put up with story and arcade modes being left out of the fighting games if said stories were explored in other media like animation and comics. Those outlets would have greater freedom to stretch their imagination and provide engaging and well written stories that maintained a logical consistency. So far we certainly haven't been able to rely on game modes to provide it.
@@sieevansetiawan4792 Worse yet, Cyrax isn't even fucking playable. I loved the guy in MK9, and he and Sektor have a full model and vague moveset, but they're not playable? Bullshit.
I could imagine a living bihans interaction with noob being something like this Bihan : so this is what becomes of me Noob : i have been liberated of my weakness Bihan : i did not take back shinnoks amulet just to become his pawn!
I always thought that Mythologies ending was a hint for Sub-Zero to change his dark fate. He did questioned Raiden about what Quan Chi told him. Even to this day I still waiting for Bi-Han to redeem himself from his darkness, but it seems for NetherRealm it's more important to make Scorpion endlessly rage over nothing.
I typically don't care about the story of MK or your videos criticizing it. I'm just in it for the entertainment. But when you and that one comment addressed the missed opportunity of not having Noob kill Hanzo but choosing Dvorah is the one case where I realized how awful (or incompetent) these writers are. I realize what NRS biggest writing problem is. They try to go for the grandest or most drastic moments to shock people. Not being subversive but more over the top that they only think in simple terms. They lack tac/subtley, thematic nuance, character dynamic cohesiveness, and foresight all for the sake of Saturday morning cartoon levels of storytelling. They made Dvorah kill Hanzo because it is shocking (because noone saw it coming and why would they it's fucking retarded) and to make Dvorah even more hated. It seem they will go at any extent to make Dvorah as cartoonishly vile as possible to make audiences hate her regardless if it ruins the story or just retcons shit. And worst part it goes nowhere. Dvorah never gets her comupance or any punishment. She gets away scot-free and the universe resets. Basically cheap shock value over good story telling. It's shit writing like that where OP characters like Dr.Fate is taken out by a fucking tentacle.
Honestly I’m more pissed there was no interaction between Scorpion and Bi-Han, Quan-Chi revives the man that Scorpion dedicated his afterlife to killing, and now is stuck working alongside the man he hates the most, where the FUCK did this rivalry go?
@@Einamu That's what I am saying. They should have had one more game before time travel. They literally wasted Enra, Takeda, and other side plots. The dynamic of Liu Kang being the villain and Dark Raiden warring states was already interesting enough.
I think I heard that Scorpion and Sub Zero won't be in it. Raiden is supposed to be a teenager if you can believe it. And the main character is an original character who's a boxer, rather than one of the actual characters. It sounds like Resident Evil again, where the characters you want to see are just secondaries.
They tossed their good brotherly relationship cause it's too much effort for them and it'd just be easier if they made Bi-Han just an overall bad guy even though he was once a really good guy, even Raiden said it.
Noob felt like he was only in 11 because the fans wanted him to be there, not because Neatherrealm had a plan to use him in any meaningful way. A big missed opportunity as his appearance could've brought in Sareena as a playable character again (making her cameo in MKX more meaningful).
In my WP of Mythologies, I do have Kuai Liang show up. He first appears before Bi-Han leaves on the quest, warning his brother that he has a feeling that Quan Chi cannot be trusted. He ends up giving something that helps Bi-Han later on, which also saves his life during the battle against Fujin. Kuai Liang then appears again at the end, seeing Bi-Han off as he boards the boat to the Mortal Kombat Tournament.
This story had SO much potential. The rivalry of brothers. I hate how NRS is destroying these characters. Bi Han was never truly evil in life, he was an assassin loyal to an order that raised him. It was even clarified in MK: Mythologies that he wasn't inherently evil, that he had a choice and he made that choice at the end of Mythologies. While remaining loyal to the Lin Kuei, he did redeem himself by retaking the Amulet. Now in MK11, they've made him just completely outright evil. Only in Sub-Zero's ending did we see redemption, but we all know that's not canon. As you've also noted, Sindel is also being tarnished. Instead of a Queen who loss her husband and was forcibly put under the control of Shao Kahn, they made her a completely evil bitch who supposedly plotted against her husband in the first place. NRS and stories, just terrible. They had it right in the beginning, and once again they've began to make it a complete mess of wasted potential. Absolutely love your videos by the way! And its crazy how the story you thought of for Noob is the exact how I thought it should have been. Including how it should have been Noob who kills Hanzo instead of DVorah. That was a dumb idea.
Here’s a hypothetical intro dialogue between the two brothers. Kuai Liang: I want to help you, brother. Bi Han: Start by giving up your title. Kuai Liang: Are you still worthy of it? I’m still work shopping. Feel free to critique.
I honestly thought to myself a few weeks ago how awesome it would have been if Kronika sent a younger, alive Bi-Han to kill Liang under the belief that he killed Bi-Han, Cyborized the Lin-Kuei, and then dumped them when he became Grandmaster, and finally allied the LK with the Shirai Ryu. A confused Liang seeing Bi-Han alive would clash with the misguided Bi-Han and spares him to Bi-Han's confusion. Spite Liang's explanation, Bi-Han is untrustworthy of his brother but decides to investigate the rumors of the Cyber Lin-Kuei's return together. It would be there that the two cryomancers would see piles of dead Lin Kuei who were killed for the new Cyber Initiative. The two would clash with Frost with Bi-Han exclaiming his disgust that Liang would bring on a brash and undisciplined brat. After one of the 2 brothers clash with Frost, they would then take down Cyrax and begin the reprogramming. Enter Noob Saibot. Not recognizing him at first, Noob Saibot would go on about how he is peering at a shell of the past, when he was weak and blind. Connecting the dots, Bi-Han realizes who was standing before them in shock and horror. Upon questioning his death and this pure evil aura, Noob explains that Scorpion killed him in the Netherrealm and was resurrected and perfected by none other than Quan Chi. The contrast would quickly come to tuition as Bi-Han scolds his future counterpart for siding with the Netherrealm when he himself fought against it to protect Earthrealm, and turning on his brother and clan. After Noob's defeat, Bi-Han would make sense of things and conclude that Kuai Liang is not the enemy. He was true to his word and innocent in all of this. He bows to Liang and compliments how grateful he is to see his younger brother become a great grandmaster. Liang assures him that when this is over, knowing that his Bi-Han survived the Soulnado, he can resume his search for a way to bring Bi-Han back to the light Cyrax would then awake with his full human conscious, horrified at what he has become. He would be even more surprised to see an older Kuai Liang, and a younger Bi-Han. Cyrax would explain that he can shut down the Cyber Lin Kuei, and the 3 team up. Enter Sektor. Sektor enters the scene chastising Kuai for allying with the Shirai Ryu, and Bi-Han for betraying the true Lin Kuei. After one of the two clash against Sektor, Liang shares his final conversation with Cyrax before he shuts down the mainframe. The brothers would escape the lab after Kronika retrieved Noob and Sektor, ending the chapter there. Edit: Thank for the pin and heart! Always loved Mortal Kombat and hope it continues on!
Personally I'd throw a little redemption bone towards Frost. Like, say her slaving protocols were programmed to make her believe she chose this, but Kuai sees through it and frees her. The two exchange apologies for not believing in one another and from there she helps the brothers out. The cryomancer trinity working together would be awesome
Netherrealm would be damn lucky to have you as one of their writers! You would be the only one who would be able to possibly bring back any of mortal kombat’s dignity in regards to story and continuity. What a great; I love your imagination! 🙂💯😊
He also beat a fire god, water god, fujin, and the earth demi gods. Bi-Han was literally picked by quan chi because he was the only mortal who could do it.
8:55 This is why I laughed my ass off when Noob said "I never lose!" I was like you haven't won a single fight in this timeline, Bi Han, get outta here.
There’s a whole redemption arc just waiting for Bi-Han that could include Sareena as well since they’re teased as having become lovers or at least somewhat romantically involved. And that’s on top of everything else currently listed. Too much is wasted and not used for these characters
I fucking died when you showcased the screw up with Jerrod's death and Jax saying Sindel snapped his neck when she in reality stabbed him in the neck with her heel
This is suuuuuuper late, but there's a few things you could do with your restoration of Bi-Han idea both character-wise and gameplay-wise 1: Sean Chiplock, instead of later being the voice of Bi-Han, is instead the voice of Saibot. After Bi-Han is restored Saibot is separated from him but not killed (as for why, maybe Saibot is tied to Quan Chi in some way due to being part of Bi-Han's corruption and thus some sort of counteract spell with Quan Chi's magic is required similar to how the revenants were restored to permanently destroy Saibot). Without Bi-Han as a template to anchor itself to, Saibot begins to distort out of control resulting in the much more grim and reaper-like look in MK11 as well as the change in voice (yeah Saibot never talked before but I imagine a living shadow wouldn't have the best voice to begin with so go with me here). This way you could still have the Noob Saibot playstyle around without having to keep Bi-Han corrupted. 2: Assuming Bi-Han still has the injuries Scorpion inflicted on him post-restoration he'd probably either be burnt, have ashen grey skin or both (a la Revenant Kabal). After reuniting with Sareena through some means, she wants to see his face as she never got to back in MK Mythologies and to become closer with Bi-Han the man rather than merely Bi-Han the Lin Kuei assassin turned Elder Gods' Champion. Being disfigured and probably wracked with guilt and thus seeing himself as a monster, Bi-Han initially refuses for fear of her being disgusted by him is she saw what he really was (in his mind anyways). Sareena, in a show of deep trust and affection (be it platonic or romantic), reverts to her true demon form and assures Bi-Han that he doesn't need to fear any form of rejection from her, upon which either she or he takes off his mask and hood (insofar as I know we don't know what Sareena's true demon form looks like nor what Bi-Han's face looked like while he was alive). Obviously there'd also be something with Kuai Liang as well as Hanzo but I already wracked my brain with these two ideas so that's all I got so far
Mythologies happened in both timelines (Raiden directly referenced it in MK9). Anyway, I really like your idea for that game, and we all also know how much that game needed a tutorial.
It seems to me, that Netherrealm are either, trying to erase, or refuse to acknowledge Bi-Han's accomplishments over the course of the franchise. I know Mythologies is *not* a good game, but they seem to be forget that Bi-Han *starred in his own prequel spin-off title, that's still canon to the second timeline.*
They (and other MK fans) also refuse to acknowledge Bi-Han’s characterisation in the game and how he started to seek redemption in the game. People are so devoted to saying Bi-Han was evil as Sub Zero when there is evidence that proves otherwise. Also I don’t know why people are so passionate about Bi-Han being undeserving of redemption when Scorpion has done loads of shit that fucked people over. Scorpion never had characteristics taken from him, his specter is him and he has agency and he chooses to do bad things because he’s vengeful and selfish.
on another note, imagine if Scorpion himself didn't write Bi-Han off as a lost cause and tried to save him himself, instead of trying to save his own past self who could have been off doing something else at the moment. It would make things more meaningful, with a complete reversal of the two's original positions...if Hanzo pulled out the fact that Quan Chi manipulated absolutely everything that transpired between the two...and this actually *meant* something to Bi-Han. as well as pointing out the fact he still has family to live for, unlike himself... If this actually reached Bi-Han and he completely traded positions with past Scorpion, i feel it would make the whole moment far, far more meaningful, as we would have actually lost something..and yet gained something else... Rather than trading a redeemed Scorpion for....another redeemed Scorpion.
Bi-Han: Arrogant, pure hatred towards the shirai ryu. Kuai-Lang: Honorable, humble person. Who restores his clan (I probably cannot spell it) Why aren’t you a screenwriter!? You can write better stories than Crappyrealm studios!!
Carlos D Rodriguez Which turned to her being a woke cyborg that hates everything and everyone thinking she’s better than everyone. I love how she looks and all, but man she needs to chill
Except not really. In the original timeline she had no issue with the Shirai Ryu and although arrogant, wasn't intrinsically evil. She made a mistake, and instead of learning from it, the writers gave her dementia and saddled her up with the bad guys. At least Sub still held out hope for her. A shame we never got to see any redemption come to light.
I like that you used Jamieson Price's other voice clips for the scenarios of Bi-Han and Kuai Liang. I still have no idea why they didn't bring him back to voice Noob yet got him to be the Announcer...
my guess is they were worried that having the same actor playing too many roles might be immersion breaking, in Elder Scrolls for instance hearing the same voice come out of completely different characters over and over again is very jarring at times. That said there is absolutely value in keeping the casting consistent Patrick Seitz has done a wonderful job with Scorpion and has played him consistently enough that I really can't imagine anyone else playing the role at this point, or how about the fact that they've been using the same "GET OVER HERE!" sound clip for ages because it's become part of the character and cannot be removed without something being lost along with it.
Kuai Liang is honestly wasted in MK11 as well. He’s faced with his brother, his friend, and his surrogate daughter, people the old timeline indicated very clearly he would do anything he could to save and absolutely never give up on. And nothing is done with any of it. He disowns Bi-Han, tosses Frost aside, and while managing to save Cyrax, decides to sit idly by as his friend kills himself, making no attempt to ensure him that there’s another way. Hell, he barely even reacts to Hanzo’s death. MK11 Sub-Zero is utterly compassionless and I hate it. This was the same man who wanted to save Bi-Han and Frost, refused to give up on them, who convinced Smoke that he still had a soul and aided in Cyrax’s redemption. In both timelines, he was able to bury the hatchet with Scorpion. And all of a sudden he’s fucking TNBA Batman: a closed off asshole who alienates those close to them.
@@Cdr2002 If you want I can give you my response to your comment, but only if you like to listen, so get over here boy, this is going to be an Ice cold Bloodcup! In the Old timeline, Sub Zero is very much consistent with his Character in the New timeline, a cold man with a heart of Gold, as he should be. He is very pragmatic if he has to, but not vile like his Brother, which still holds true today so I don't see why he had fallen here. These people Sub Zero cared about, the people you, mentioned were, except with maybe Smoke( who was forced to be Evil and did not deserve this, and was allegedly saved by Sub Zero, hence why he fought in the final battle at Armageddon on the force of Light) lost causes as almost every attempt to save Frost ended with someone getting hurt and even caused the death of many of his loyal Lin Kuei, all because she betrayed Sub-Zero in an attempt to gain more power and control, stole Sub Zero's Medallion and tried to kill him(or Freeze), which ended with her being Frozen. after all the shit she did, I would have after her recovery confronted her and punished her for treason most likely with Death or imprison her in all for Eternity for her betrayal and Sub-Zero might have been in that position too. Noob refused to be good and despite his brother's attempts to redeem him, he still rejected him and joined the Forces of Darkness, so I doubt that he will try to redeem him again in a timeline, where both survived Armageddon somehow or during the Fight. So no, Kuai Liang should not have tried to give them so many Chances after all they did here. Oh, and your Gaslighting on Sub Zero's refusal to help the unhelpable is pretty awful. Bi Han had been responsible for a lot of deaths and even supported both the Cyber Initiative and Shao Khan's Invasion, which would have ended the lives of Billions of People on Earth and all of that for the Money, on top of telling his younger brother that they are no longer Siblings, this guy can rot in hell. Frost is equally bad, for refusing to get pass by her anti-Shirai Ryu believes and even nearly caused the death of Sub Zero, ergo, she can be either give the last warning( which is maybe what Sub did and she still serves Kronika) or expel her from the Lin Kuei. Cyrax was a lost cause, he died like in the Comics, in a Suicide and did the same in this game, hardly terrible from Sub-Zero to say goodbye to him. 2 of them deserve no redemption and the last one wanted to die, that is in no way incorrect for Subzero to act as he did in the storyline. Sub Zero is not compassionless, he understands, unlike you that you cannot open your hearts to everyone and that there are people, who, no matter what you do, refuse to change and pose a threat your life, it's like with Abusive Family Members, you like Sub Zero have to cut them out of your lives and be yourself, a good Human. Sub Zero did nothing wrong. What you want from Subzero is identical to what Cetrion did in the entire story, refusing to cut ties with her evil mother and allow her to plunge the realms to endless war, because she is family, which is stupid and evil. Cyrax, Smoke, and Scorpion were diffrent cases than the other 2, they deserve compassion and are actually good people, even though Scorpion is not that great in the beginning and even admits that he deserves no redemption, but in spite of all of this, at least attempts to put things right and he did with Takeda and the defeat of Havik, on top of being only the way he is due to being the victim of a mass murder, he has no perfect redemption, but still deserved it more than Frost or Noob. Batman died a long time ago since Allan Moore destroyed superheroes along with that fool Frank Miller, who made him a fascist, Batman is unlike Sub-Zero, not really a person anyone.
@Raider 2747 No, my point regarding these two is not Ignorant, it's quite Enlightened. Batman became more unlikable and detestable with the advent of these two writers, who tried to deconstruct Superheroes, which is why we have so many edgy and bad comics for following that trend. TV tropes made articles about much of it, it's under Misaimed fandom and 90's comics. Another good source on it is Hbomb's video regarding the killing Joke and the comic industry as a whole. I did not mention Sareena, because I found her not relevant in this discussion and a lot of the beef that happened with her and Kuai Liang was due to misunderstanding rather than utter hostility.
@Raider 2747 The All Star Batman stuff was made as a way to parody and even criticise TDKR Batman Frank himself created and even omitted to having ruined him by making him a fascist, he literally tried to make amends for his shit, until the Dark Knight movie came and made batman again edgy. Alan Moore did more than making the Killing Joke( which also created many crazy Joker fans, who believe he is right about the idea of needing one day to be enough to make someone evil, eve though it's contradicted in the story), he also made the Watchmen, the biggest deconstruction of Superheroes yet that literally sparked the beginning of the Edgy 90's comics and is the biggest influence on modern superheroes being dark and gruesome as opposed to the saviours they used to be. That it was made in the 80's doesn't devalue my point, because they still influence the 90's comics and still were the main inspiration for them, so yes, it's still their fault for the industry trend we have right now, even they admitted that they were overboard with some of the stuff they have written, it's even online, you can look it up.

Kitana goes into the past where here first encounter with Mileena occurred. Then Kitana instead of being like before which was jump to conclusions, she could have lectured Mileena the same way with Baraka, granting her new life free of Shang Tsung. If Baraka, Scorpion, Erron Black and Shiva became good, why not Mileena? Ermac? Cetrion? Geras? Ashrah purified even Onāgá as well as Empress Kreeya. With that done, Kotal explains to Onāgá, Kreeya and Dairou that Kitana is now empress who did better job than Shao Kahn. Onāgá will be with Empress Kreeya and Kotal be with Jade. Dairou? No idea... Shiva, Mileena, Baraka, Jade, Onāgá, Kotal, Kreeya, Zeffeero, Dairou would even pledge their loyalty to their new empress. Liu Kang (still fire-thunder fused) could perhaps have a happy ending too. Kitana forms an all-female fighting force (Lì Méi, Sonya, Jade, Mileena, Shiva - except Sindel being killed for being a gold digger) and banish the Forces of Evil to the Netherrealm. Khameleon restore Zaterra with the help of Ferra & Torr and a redeemed Reptile as well as Chameleon. Perhaps, Khameleon could be ruler of Zaterra. Sonya (similar to Mortal Kombat Armageddon ending) annihilates Black Dragon and Red Dragon with Jax observing "Damn, you barbecued his ass".
So late on commenting on this video. Bi-Han was always my personal favourite character, and... yeah, he’s been given a shit deal recently. Say what you will about MK2011, but at the _very_ least, it gave us some good moments with him... and Jamieson Price’s kickass voice. MK11, on the other hand, has no excuse.
It’s really sad I don’t get the emotion from the new storyline because that is utterly Impossible at this point But I get it from Knowing how great the characters were and could have been if there was thought put into it too bad. Thanks Snake for this fantastic video
Yeah, this is the biggest disappointment in new timeline. I mean, NRS - you have this huge and epic story featuring 2 most iconic characters in the series, 2 guys who went from bitter enemies to friends. It is a story that also involves undead demonic brother, a powerful necromancer, female demon seeking redemption and dark Elder God connected to these two. Great and epic story is sitting right there in front of you and it is a story that, at least, 80% of fans would like to see coming to conclusion. But no. Instead we get stupid teens with daddy issues who play almost the same as their parents, have personalities that are bland as cardboard and do nothing but cracking stupid one-liners that would even make MCU writers cringe. Seriously, what the hell.
I blame the unneccesary push for adding new characters they literally could have added no new characters to any of the Netherrealm games and stuck exclusively to existing ones and hardly anyone would've minded, hell unless you count Cyber Sub Zero that's exactly what they did for MK9 and that one is by far the best of the trilogy if not the entire franchise. but of course once you add new characters you're obligated to do something with them since they have no previous continuity and old fans to fall back on so they are shoehorned into scenarios they don't belong.
I'm sure you'll bring it up in the Sareena episode but Noob's relationship with her could have been interesting to see if she had been in MK11. He could have even been a mentor to Frost to help turn her against Kuai Liang.
Noob Saibot in MK11 sounds exactly like Black Doom from Shadow The Hedgehog to the point where I had to look it up to see if they had the same voice actor.
Personally I've never been a big fan of Noob mainly due to his fan base that shuts me off on Noob. But I do think he has so much potential to be one of the best if not the best character in the series. I'd also love a episode about the Shokan and the Centaurian rivalry or a episode about Sheeva
An insteresting thing to point out is that if you pick Sub Zero's alternate costume in MK9 he will use Bi Han's voice clips just like Noob Saibot. I loved this little detail.
What I believe would be a great way to give noob more character is to have serena in one of the games and have noob about to kill a prominent/important character and have serena ask or beg him to not do it which may allow bi han to realize what he could have if he strayed away from the path of darkness and then have him team up with his brother to stop the evil at hand
They made it seem like that is the same bi-han though because Hanzo says "you were killed swallowed by the soulnado" and he responds with "quan-chi creations are hard to kill"
@The4thSnake: The 'Injustice 2' Green Arrow thing really got to me, cause when we 1st heard Green Arrow would be in Inj.2, I had a huge smile on my face cause in my mind it meant they would make Connor Hawke take up the mantle because of how his father died, but Nope...alt universe Ollie
Poor Noob. Only a shadow of what he could have been. Twice. (Check W.P on best MK girl for info). I also loved how you altered lines of the VA's to make it blend with their presented stories. Now that you mentioned Taven, is there any potential that any of the Konquest characters (Shujinko, Taven, Daegon, etc) had shown and wasted. Shujinko and Taven's journeys balled up to "Beat the beast, save the day" but with context.
At this point, I think NRS didn't really put too much thought into the story. They don't need anymore new characters, they had more than enough to work with by the time MKX came out.
3:34 In story mode Hanzo actually mentions what Noob was destroyed by Soulnado to which he gets a response from Noob what "Quan Chi's creations do not die so easily". So this is Bi-Han from the present, not the past. It's obviously doesn't explain how Noob survived (probably Kronika saved him), but it never was explained exactly how Scorpion "escaped to the Void" from Soulnado as well. But "Soulnado has made us stronger" is definitely a bs (as is a lot of other pre-fight dialogue). How almost dying from getting to Heaven or being ripped by souls supposed to make him stronger?
Here's what I don't understand. They can't include a Cyber-Sub Zero/Original Bi Han for the next game but have no problem making the main characters' default forms revenants (MK11).
How the hell did MK11 make a time travel storyline and not have Bi Han Subzero versus Kuai Liang Subzero.. Bi Han's Sunzero has a huge fanbase for a guy who has made very few appearances as Subzero in the franchises history. I like Noob, but there's no reason that in a game with two Johnny Cages, two Sonyas, two Jaxs, two Lui Kangs, two Kung Laos, two Katanas, that we couldn't get two Subzeros when that actually made more sense than the others having a duplicate. 🤦🏼♂️
Bi Han Sub zero should have appeared in 11 Bi Han: I will never be like you Noob Saibot: Embrace the darkness within you Bi Han: Never undead Bi Han: Brother? Kuai Liang: never though I would make it as Grandmaster? Bi Han: you have learned from me Brother, remeber that. Bi Han: still vengeful for your death? Scorpion: I have forgiven you for my death Bi Han Bi Han: I haven't for mine Scorpion: My death by your hands was honorable Bi Han: I didn't seek your clan's demise Scorpion: Quan Chi payed for their deaths
What really pisses me off is that Noob isn’t even that mad about Scorpion killing him unjustly
Darion Mackey then why does he complain to Raiden about his death? If noob loved being dead then he would thank raiden.
@@Red_1911 true true
He technically did,he kicked shinnok's ass and killed scorpion like he did in the original timeline, after that he just gets his ass kicked
Baraka, Reptile, Ermac, Sheeva, Kano, Mileena, and even all the new jobber characters from MK11 who have really cool ideas and more were all wasted as well, which is a shame as they are some of the coolest characters in the franchise. The villains always get the short end of the stick.
@@GhostFan-ev4di Do you actually say that Sonya can beat up Shinnock, Man the Power Scale in the new timeline is all over the place!!!
@@SinCity2100 yes indeed, and. apparently kronika a titan with time powers is weaker than geras a being she created herself

@@reapersoon8362 But you can kill Shinnok so doesn’t count?

It would have been interesting if Noob Saibot had a Sub Zero Skin, where he deploys a living Ice Klone instead of Saibot.

Jax and Jac

That's a good idea I wonder why they didn't do. For IJ2, they made premier skins for some characters like Green Lantern, Black Lightning and The Flash. Makes me wonder why they never did it. Could have had different dialogues too.
Its seems like such an obvious thing, and they *would* make a lot of money from that one skin.

leave it to youtubers to develop characters better than the developers that created them.
wasn't John Tobias the one that actually created them? maybe if he didn't leave long ago we'd have consistent writing in Mortal Kombat games 🤔
Both of y’all are right. Tbh I was interested in the story but now it is just boring and missing some characters in the story once again. Smoke, rain, etc....
The dev teams most likely just don't give a toss about fan fic.

Maybe the youtubers should write their own game and storyline to show these punks how it's done!

"For that, Scorpion lost my trust."
"That is not justice."

They don't, it's probably why the rebooted twice in three games.
@@jeggsonvohees2201 how many reboots must a game simply have to produce a good story?!
True, he lost to sonya and… scorpion in mk9. Wtf? So scorpy or sonya can beat shinnoks ass now?
The MK11 Bi-Han is a present version apparently, because he knows about the soulnado incident and the timepoint of the past versions is before Kung Lao's death
Scorpion asked him how did he survive the souldnado

The fucker quoted Oppenheimer, I cannot tell you how loud I cackled when I heard him say that. He's so goddamn edgy in 11, it is ridiculous. It was interesting at first where he betrayed Kronika because he figured she would betray him, but rather than keep that going where he's either extremely paranoid all the time or, like Shang Tsung, is typically untrustworthy, they made him into another 'i Am DaRkNeSs InCaRnAtE' villain.

NRS: Er...well, yes. How can we progress the story if the playable characters lose...?
Me: By doing away with the chapter based storyline and having the fights be dependent on the story as opposed to the story having to work itself around the fights.

To be fair about just playing good guys, Kotal Kahn isn't exactly a good guy.
@@naos8116 We're meant to sympathize with him more than Mileena. We either play the good guys or people who fall from grace or are still allies to the good guys. This is one of the most obnoxious comments in all of UA-cam. This format needs to die. As do all who post like this
I agree on all levels.
I'd like to see Kabal and Noob Saibot hanging out in Yin Yang Island (from Deception) and drinking piña coladas while everybody else is off fighting.
@@TheNemisisx And, hopefully, they'll drop the "4 fights per chapter" thing...

Kuai Liang: ''BROTHER! Where have you been all this time??''
Bi Han: ''Waiting in the shadows.......of this fridge right here, to have a quick fight with you and then dissapear from story mode.

Jeggson Vohees yeah I heard that too
They tossed their good brotherly relationship cause it's too much effort for them and it'd just be easier if they made Bi-Han just an overall bad guy even though he was once a really good guy, even Raiden said it.
Noob felt like he was only in 11 because the fans wanted him to be there, not because Neatherrealm had a plan to use him in any meaningful way. A big missed opportunity as his appearance could've brought in Sareena as a playable character again (making her cameo in MKX more meaningful).
I guess you could say Nether Realm turned Bi-Han/Noob-Saibot into a literal shadow of his former self from Midway.
I like that tutorial idea. Reminds me of how Shujinko learned moves in MK Deception.
Damn, bi han always shitting on his little brother by his title
Liang assures him that when this is over, knowing that his Bi-Han survived the Soulnado, he can resume his search for a way to bring Bi-Han back to the light
Cyrax would then awake with his full human conscious, horrified at what he has become.
This is really awesome
Personally I'd throw a little redemption bone towards Frost. Like, say her slaving protocols were programmed to make her believe she chose this, but Kuai sees through it and frees her. The two exchange apologies for not believing in one another and from there she helps the brothers out. The cryomancer trinity working together would be awesome

it would be a good idea for Netherealm to use that.
Don’t forget my list: reptile, reiko, tremor, li mei, bo rai cho, goro, rain, Kano, Tanya, Shang tsung. And last but not least fujin.
Bi-han meeting his future self as Noob sailot might have made him want to change his life.
Netherrealm would be damn lucky to have you as one of their writers! You would be the only one who would be able to possibly bring back any of mortal kombat’s dignity in regards to story and continuity. What a great; I love your imagination! 🙂💯😊
Miss the Raiden outfit though hehe. 🙂💕
He also beat a fire god, water god, fujin, and the earth demi gods. Bi-Han was literally picked by quan chi because he was the only mortal who could do it.

Well I can't wait to see the MK1's version of wasted potential after butchering his character, even with him being back as sub-zero AGAIN!
There’s a whole redemption arc just waiting for Bi-Han that could include Sareena as well since they’re teased as having become lovers or at least somewhat romantically involved. And that’s on top of everything else currently listed. Too much is wasted and not used for these characters
MK1 as great as it is destroyed Bi-Han’s character beyond repair.
Lol he's gonna end up as a jobber but the difference being him being no longer noob 😂
I love you endlessly for that last sentence. I'm so sick of them pushing Jacqui so hard... she's got absolutely nothing going for her.
I fucking died when you showcased the screw up with Jerrod's death and Jax saying Sindel snapped his neck when she in reality stabbed him in the neck with her heel
Bi Han has a lot of potential in the story mode possibly has the some of the biggest potential out of most characters but they mess him up. :(
100% agree with you they did him so dirty
This is suuuuuuper late, but there's a few things you could do with your restoration of Bi-Han idea both character-wise and gameplay-wise
1: Sean Chiplock, instead of later being the voice of Bi-Han, is instead the voice of Saibot.
Anyway, I really like your idea for that game, and we all also know how much that game needed a tutorial.
it doesn't matter now,mk11 erased all of that.
@@GhostFan-ev4di fuck MK11
The part where Bi Han met Noob Saibot in this video just gives me goosebumps especially with their voices lol
on another note, imagine if Scorpion himself didn't write Bi-Han off as a lost cause and tried to save him himself, instead of trying to save his own past self who could have been off doing something else at the moment.
“Such wasted potential”
10 minutes? Goddamn I can think of over an hour of his wasted potential
I didn’t even think about how MK11 could have had a Bi-Han skin for subzero to bring him back in the story as subzero that would have been cool to see
Bi-Han: Arrogant, pure hatred towards the shirai ryu.
Kuai-Lang: Honorable, humble person. Who restores his clan (I probably cannot spell it)
Why aren’t you a screenwriter!?
You can write better stories than Crappyrealm studios!!
I think I finally figured out the problem with Frost’s MKX appearance. They gave her Bi-Han’s personality inexplicably.
Carlos D Rodriguez Which turned to her being a woke cyborg that hates everything and everyone thinking she’s better than everyone. I love how she looks and all, but man she needs to chill
Yeah her MK11 portrayal is abysmal
Carlos D Rodriguez Worst of all, she was always like this
Except not really.
I love bi-han's sub zero voice. kinda reminds me of shaolin monks sub zero, also I like his attitude
Ok... hold up..... jax got his own death wrong. Says his neck was snapped but it was a high heel from sindel through the throat that kills him?!?!
Thata the MK writers for you
Am I the only one who likes the idea of Noob and Kabal "fucking off on a holiday somewhere"?
I like that you used Jamieson Price's other voice clips for the scenarios of Bi-Han and Kuai Liang. I still have no idea why they didn't bring him back to voice Noob yet got him to be the Announcer...
Same with Kelly Hu coming back as D'Vorah but not Frost.
my guess is they were worried that having the same actor playing too many roles might be immersion breaking, in Elder Scrolls for instance hearing the same voice come out of completely different characters over and over again is very jarring at times.
@@GodOfOrphans And yet, Steve Blum gets his fourth role in Baraka.
@@The4thSnake I still have absolutely no idea what compelled them to hire a major talent like Kelly Hu and waste her on a shit kharacter like D'vorah
I'm MK 11, Noob Saibot is who he is, a noob.
" A Freaking Journey Man "
Shout out to The Fighting Den
"A gatekeeper."
Are you going to specify your opinion any further or is that it?

I wish a few things storywise:
A number of minor *mentioned/scrapped/forgotten* characters and realms from films, cartoons, conquest, legacy, books even games were involved in future games like taking part in the Battle of Armageddon. But the outcome will be different like Taven negates everyone's powers.
Ashrah purified Noob thus allowing the reconciliation between the brothers and therefore allowing a new alliance between Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu ninja clans.
I may like the 2nd timeline MK Games, but I do agree NetherRealm has made Poor Choices
i just treat it as a alternate retelling

He probably hasn’t since NRS don’t understand that Bi-Han was looking for redemption after Mythologies.

I never even realised that past Sub-Zero and past-Noob/Bi Han never showed up in MK11. That is hot garbage.
I really hope Neatherealm watches these videos and learn from them.

It’s really sad I don’t get the emotion from the new storyline because that is utterly Impossible at this point

Thanks Snake for this fantastic video
Oh great, finally the Wasted Potential i was waiting fo- 6:17 LOOK MOM, IT'S ME, IT'S ME!
You paragraph sound like is could literally be in the video.
Why put in the effort when you make shit loads of cash anyway,
I'm sure you'll bring it up in the Sareena episode but Noob's relationship with her could have been interesting to see if she had been in MK11. He could have even been a mentor to Frost to help turn her against Kuai Liang.
Noob is my favorite video game villain of all time, and I feel like they should've done more with him.
There's an MK Khronicles chapter about her.
An insteresting thing to point out is that if you pick Sub Zero's alternate costume in MK9 he will use Bi Han's voice clips just like Noob Saibot. I loved this little detail.
Shame it doesn't apply to his intro line.
I know this probably sounds crazy but I swear I would be able to explain it better with actual words
There’s a lot of cool background elements in this series that I wasn't aware of. I enjoy watching your vids Snake.
When you're about to fight your rival that you've been wanting to kill your years but you realize its his chapter...
*"God Fucking Dammit"*
He is such an underrated character , I very much agree with you about biihan/noob
I just wish the bad guys could get a story chapter too
They made it seem like that is the same bi-han though because Hanzo says "you were killed swallowed by the soulnado" and he responds with "quan-chi creations are hard to kill"
I could listen to you rip NRS' writing to shreds for hours.
Beats replaying the goddamn games, that's for sure.
How almost dying from getting to Heaven or being ripped by souls supposed to make him stronger?
scorpion got saved the elder gods, that's why he survived it I think. I don't know about noob, the MK story makes no sense anymore
those false intros you made were some of the best I've seen. wish the were really in the game keep up the good work
5:38 the old voice for Noob was more fitting
Jobber? I see someone is following the fighters den. Neat
The thing that annoyed me the most is bi han was the strongest ninja back then since he beat shinnok Shang Tsung quan chi scorpion sareena
Exactly! smh
I wanna see bihan meeting his future self (noob saibot) but nope
Remember the ultimate Wasted Plotential for Bi-Han. Noob Saibot finally becoming Pro Saibot
I prefer Vet Saibot, but either works.
I keep loving these videos, it makes me feel happy to go back to the original lore.

Noob Saibot: Embrace the darkness within you
Bi Han: Never undead
Bi Han: Brother?
Kuai Liang: never though I would make it as Grandmaster?
Bi Han: you have learned from me Brother, remeber that.
Bi Han: still vengeful for your death?
Scorpion: I have forgiven you for my death Bi Han
Bi Han: I haven't for mine
