I was a disco DJ from 1976 to 81 in Honolulu. When this song broke I played it faithfully every night and faithfully cleared the dance floor every-time. It took a while for them to "get it" and as they say now, the rest is history. I love you Slayd5000 and for reintroducing so many to the disco era.

Wow, it's so hard to imagine this track clearing the floor. It never occurred to me that it once when it first hit the scene wouldn't be instantly accepted.
Ha ha! I can't remember how it cleared the dance floor. All I know my great dance partner and I had a great time dancin' a swing type dance to it!!

Hit the LOTTO with the gifted sounds from gifted teachers!! From a little girl at 4 years old using a step stool to get up to my piano creating my own notes and learning to play piano then organ!!!!!!!!!! Violin, flute then clarinet concert band and then marching band!!!! Not to forget Drill Team!!!! Marching!!! Stomping High to the Sounds of Awesome Music!!! Love it!!!!! Love music so much to enjoy!!!!! All flavors!!!!!!!! Now to get my keyboard back to see if I still can hit those notes!!! Thank GOD for those precious memories learning from awesome talented gifted teachers, family members, friends, work teams, the list goes on....Most of all Mom and Dad as the vessels for my tender life to be born into the 50's! and this version is even longer than the official album version clocking about 7:48 I am more used to (I have the 12" on Casablanca as well on 2 CDs compilations: The Casablanca Records Story and Lipps Inc greatest hits or best of). Amazing version here , mesh up and interesting surprises (curve balls so to speak) in it mixing

@vinyl12s Like this one, it's a Mexican pressing labeled as "Pueblo Funky (Funky Town)" on the label. Of all the Mexican pressed 12s I have, I think this is the only one on black vinyl. LOL!

I always liked the condensed 45 version of this. This cut and Cheryl Lynn's "Got to be real" are superior disco 45's when compared to their album versions. This is actually a remix that sounds like it was from the 80's.

I live in Mexico and i used to have the green vinyl of this, the sleeve had a few eliptical holes so could see the vinyl color though them. No so nice version, but a collectors item indeed. Thanks.

My Mexican copy that I bought in Tujuana was pressed in Glorious Pasture Green! I drove all the way from L.A. to buy one. The "cardboard paper" sleeve cover smelled like horse manure! LOL I guess they've been "going green" and "organic" way before everybody was. Made my record crate reeked of fresh baked cow fritters!

I made a special trip to Tijuana just to buy a copy...they only had a handful of the green copies in stock...did you happen to smell the record jacket/sleeve/cover? It had the "essence" of dried cow/horse "meadow muffins"! LOL The Mexicans have an affinity to press their vinyl in rainbow colors...that's why I bought some other collectable 12inchers that same day. I still have all of them!
