Such a nice looking motor I would need a hanger so I could keep all the cars for my self 👍👍🤣🤣🤣🤣
what a job u guys have and you do it so well keep it up
I couldn’t do there job because I would fall in love every auction and have my heartbroken 💔
I've been to BANGERS AND CASH......Great day out.....I strongly recommend it
@@mrtoptenatten think bout going up week end to look at few cars with bit luck
@@waynegardner2495 you go for it......you won't be disappointed
@@waynegardner2495 I collect classic cars & I deal with Derek alot.....
@@mrtoptenatten I would like that Sierra cos … but it going to go for more than I like …. Or mk1 spotline
Looks good … just don’t won’t to pay over the odds for car
Absolutely love the car 😃 envious of the lucky person who’s fortunate to buy, that classy motor remembering the seventies as a teenager
You are not supposed to rev that lotus engine above 3K RPM until it is thoroughly warmed up otherwise it knackers the piston rings. Back in the day when they were reasonably cheap to buy at car auctions I searched for a decent early Mk2 (they were introduced in October 1966 superseding the Mk 1). but everyone I found was blowing blue smoke and needed a rebuild so I ended up with a G.T. !!!!! The one to look for and find is the pre 1965 Mk 1 before the fish eye ventilation vents on the dash. they had alloy bonnet boot lid and door skins.
I often cringe when I see the guys over revving some of the engines from cold.
I know that the pre aerofoil lotus cortinas are worth more, but I've always preferred the aeroflow model as I much prefer the interior styling. Plus ditching the pre aerofoil A frame suspension was a bonus on the later model.
Check out The late Brake Show , on UA-cam with Jonny Smith its a guys personal Lotus Cortina collection Mk1 and Mk2 , its well worth a watch 👍
im pretty sure he didnt rev beyound 2 500 rpm
I wonder what it will go for being a recreation. Any ideas?
i loved when he started it starter motor had that un refined clunk into action then u hear the glorious webers n lotus engine intake bark
Boss car, nothing to like the Lotuscortina
looks great
Nice car pity its a replica the wheels look wider than standard lotus wheels but suit the car well
Nice car
Very nice. 👍, mk2 cortina is the only one I never had.
I know the title says ‘recreation’ but seems to be describing it as being authentic.
This is a repost, if you were up to speed you would of seen this video before
Chances are the provenance has had the wheels fall off as 2 weeks ago it was a lotus now it isn’t hence why it looks colder than it is at the mo
Mk2 was officially known as a Cortina Lotus.
Nice but I think the MK1 looked so much better, mk2s looked a bit boxy to me
Very tidy indeed and as a recreation it will be better value.
?? is that like "cheaper"?
The original title will not be “Lotus” so doesn’t have their valuation status obviously.
No Lotus Cortina had a wooden dash.
it will be from a 1600E series one
That's cold , then proceeds to rev it up 🤦♂️
Couldn’t believe it ! Why would you do that to someone’s car.
steady on its okay to rev a cold up but not beyond 3k which he didnt same as u wud driving from cold
It is however not a Lotus Cortina.
Go on?
So it's a lookalike then ?
@@2tone2thebone. yep
@@2tone2thebone. The twin cam engine looks correct.Single drive at the front with a slave chain driving the other at the rear. The reverse wheels look correct but I am no expert with these.I know that alot of stock cars were modded like alot of Fords from the 60,s and certainly 70,s were.Ford were great because swapping engines and gearboxes and back axles was straight forward because bodyshells were designed to take any engine and box they had in their catalogue.Same bolts and mounting points etc to a degree with someone that knows what they are doing. Those days are gone.
@@glennpowell3444 the wheels look like 6j's am pretty sure they should be 5.5's..I have 6j's on mine but it defo isn't a lotus .
