Apparently, sea shanties are a fad on TikTok right now. So the boys of Home Free decided to win the trend. Also, Adam's "castanets" are just spectacular.

These sea shanties are a recent Tik Tok trend, which is likely the reason for their little floating logo. A Scottish mail carrier uploaded the first song there, Wellerman, in early January, and the Tik Tok community responded with their own edits, layering on tracks of vocal harmonies, instruments, etc. Then others uploaded other old songs of the sea, and the trend went viral. This is what our boys are responding to, with this medley.
This is HF buried treasure!! These guys...Who wouldn’t love to head off to work as a Pirate!! aargh! I remember the Irish Rovers singing “Drunken Sailor” back in elementary school! All they needed were a Parrot, an eye patch & a plank to walk!! Jack Sparrow & Long John Silvers...Love how tempo increased! Adam adding castanet to his percussion list!! Swashbuckling good song!! Nice reaction!!
Chance is dressed much like I did when I crewed at sea in the 80s.
For all of those calling Chance's cap a beanie, what he is wearing is a watch cap. A beanie is similar to a watch cap but doesn't have as strong of an association with the sea as the watch cap.
Ahoy matey ! This was pretty amazing the guys killed it ! Actually Chance is dressed like a modern sailor...he's wearing a "whale" shirt and that beanie ! How about Adam making those castanet noises !!! I dropped another video which is worth watching...Tim took a drive from Nashville to Minnesota to see Adam the beatboxer & his family.....its hilarious

@@miamidolphinsfan if your interested , Netflix has a movie out called "fishemen friends". It's based on a true story about how a bunch of Welchmen from Wales are discovered by a record producer. It's a nice movie fit for family watching.
Yeah I don’t know sea shanty’s but I guess they’re big on Tik Tok. I know only one song but I LOVE this. It’s so catchy and well done. Love Adam’s beatboxing, with the castanets at the end. And Tim’s low notes! Wow, fun. Good reaction.
Chance was dressed as a West Coast sailor, Rob was dressed as an East Coast sailor, Adam's outfit was sort of Little Mermaid character, Austin was a pirate and Tim was of course Jack Sparrow

The icon in the lower left is "hf" for Home Free, but in the style of the TikTok icon, which is also usually in the lower left. :)
Sea shanties were developed on large sailing vessels as a rhythmic tool for repetitive labor, like rigging sails, which on old, large sailing ships (which during the age of sail, before steam and oil, that is all there was) was very labor intensive. They were never limited to only pirates.
Home Free is still releasing new content every two weeks. One week it's a Home Away From Home piece and the other it's a new video.
Chance is a modern ship mate, so he is essential in costume too. Home Free has been trying to release a new video every 2 weeks, they are doing such a great job of entertaining us during this lockdown. And yes, Austin is making lots and lots of music during this quaranteen. Please react to his cover of "At Last" and I love his original video of "Earn It" Really love the message.

I think all the guys were separate due to it being during Covid.
There is a movie that came out this past year called Fisherman’s Friend, this has brought on this the sea shanty popularity. It is a good movie, and a true story.

Homefree is cool and all, but really, look up Nathan Evans, whose video from January kicked off the TikTok fad and resulted in so many other people singing sea shanties. He is a postman from Inverary Scotland, he's released folk and pop music on UA-cam and TikTok for at least 8 years, and now he's got a recording contract from all this. His version of Wellerman just hit #1 in the UK. Please look him up and listen to his official recording (the original filmed at his home seems to have gone away, though bits of it are all over in the videos created by other people in January and February. OR, listen to any of his older videos. He really deserves a listen!

My take on the video and the costumes is that it's mimicking TikTok when someone posts themselves singing a duet with someone else. People dress differently and some go all in more than others. It perfectly reflects real life, right?!

IDK if you've ever checked out Tim's older solo stuff, but my favorite of his is "I've Seen Rain". HF did a version as well, but Tim's solo version is my preferred one.
