i really liked your video. Thank you both for pointing out the correct ways. . Do you have any video on "type of connections" in bachata , how to hold arm and fingers in detail while making a move.. Also " bachata musicality. I really appreciate.
Good question! 😊 Generally there are 2 approaches to the First Dance. Some couples think of it as a 1) SHOW for the guests, while others think of it as an 2) INTIMATE MOMENT of connection between the couple that is simply WITNESSED by the guests. If your approach is #1, then SHOWY arms are totally appropriate. If your approach is #2, then we would suggest being more NATURAL with the arms. In our Natural Dance Method program, we teach dancing without steps. Rather, it is based on walking. So even if you are learning steps right now, feel the NATURAL RHYTHM of how your arms swing while you're walking, and try and apply that to your dancing. It would never be static (ie held out in one position by your side or stuck down at the side of your body) the whole time. There would be a natural flow of movement as you are going from here to there. Hope that helps!!! BTW: This is a great topic for a future video, so thanks for asking the question! 👍
Good question, but unfortunately, no good answer. People are all different, so some will prefer the clockwise turn, others prefer the counter clockwise, and still others have no preference at all. There are some tricky hand changes that need to be done for each specific turn, but once you learn the secrets behind them, both are easy to do! 😉👍
When we are practicing the turn, I'm just not getting how to hold the hands together above the head as I am turning. It just seems awkward. Are they slightly touching each other?
Yes, the hands are always touching. They are sliding around each other, but not grasping. here's a link to another video we made about hands: ua-cam.com/video/7CAu2g2cDV0/v-deo.html
Hahaha! We never thought of that!!! Best thing to do is calmly try to untangle yourselves. Panic in any situation usually makes things a lot worse. Maybe go in for a passionate kiss to distract your guests while you fix it? If you're both silly people and like joking around you could just roll with it and use it as a fun, and impromptu situation. 🤣
Sure, you can use your right hand to spin if you need to. Sometimes we do that with shoulder injuries or with people who want to switch hands for whatever reason. 👍 As long as you practice it a bit and get comfortable with communicating through that hand, then you'll be fine. Normally, it's a smoother transition with the left, just because that's the one that will be holding hands in the regular dance hold, rather than the one on the back... but that being said, it's totally do-able either way!
EXACTLY! Dancing is a great way of elevating any social setting, especially vacationing on a cruise. Have fun dancing with your family and friends, and just be mindful when the ship starts to rock around!!!
Great question Jack! 👍 If you can reach just above your fiance's head, then it should be do-able. Often the girl will duck when the ELBOW is in the way. Make sure both of your elbows are turned outward to create space for her to walk into when she's doing a turn. If you go back and watch Solution #2 Elbows bent, no ducking, you can pause and see how the elbows are positioned to have a clear space. You can also notice that Joel's hand is just slightly above Clara's head, not too high at all... so as long as you can reach above her head, it should work nicely! Hope that helps!!! If you have anymore questions, let us know.
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you!
You're absolutely welcome. Have fun on the dance floor, and reach out if you'd like more direct help!
This looks fun

Best dancing teacher online
Thank you!
Thank you!!! We appreciate the support and recognition 👃
At last, I've found this technique when it comes spinning.. I would like you to do more spinning a couple of times..
Ooooh! Multiple spins are always fun! We'll keep it in mind for a future video!
How about what to do with your free arms? My dance teacher wants us to hold them out all the time, but it feels too over the top showy.

Which way is better clock wise or counter clockwise

Hope you were able to master the spin! 👍
U use your left hand to spin her. Can u also use your right hand to spin her?

How do you compensate for height difference? I’m slightly shorter than my fiancé… sos…
