I've just started watching series one for the first time in over four decades and it's interesting just how different the characters are especially glegg who seems very brave and even insults Nora to her face now that's bravery..
Just watched the episode downhill racer, thinking of the locations and ppl who have been and gone, disappointed to see how busy it is there now was hoping it would still be a quiet village

I Used to Enjoy this show when it was new with my Dad he would be 103 .I'm 55 . It still want to step into the screen Bicycle around the Village sit in the Pub Pint and listen to those old Caracters tell a embellished stories and walk or stumble out the door from age or drink looking for a bit of other fun.😁
I'm American and I Love "Last of the Summer Wine" not least of all for the Fact it has Soooooo many Episodes. I don't think I've watched them all yet. I Love the other Roy Clarke shows as well. No Curse Words or Sex and Nudity just Good old Fashion Double Entendre.
@@summerwinos2341 Very much doubt the fish was caught there - it doesn't look right. The river was declared officially dead for over 100 years and I lived next to it in the 50's and 60's. There was no grass or any vegetation anywhere near the river. Nothing at all could grow there. That shot shows lots of grass. Next time, why don't you look up Marks Bottom (if you'll excuse me). It's a lovely area between Netherthong and Upperthong. It's not changed much at all in 50 years. I think the fish was caught there.
Great work guys, The original threesome created a different "feel"in the early episodes. Iv,e watched LOSW from start to finish and loved it all whatever the changes that happened over the years. I have watched the entire box sets so many times and like you guys I can probably qoute most of the entire scripts from some episodes..Please keep up the good work..
I loved the pilot of 'Last of the Summer Wine' and the following Series 1 and 2. Long before the days of Foggy, Howard and Marina and Edie Pegden's coffee mornings, these are the days when the trio was Clegg, Compo and "less of the Cyril" Blamire, and the days when Compo and even Ivy swore, "well bloody pay for it" Ivy yells at Compo who hasn't paid for a current bun from the cafe and Kathy Staff's character was referred to and credited as 'Mrs.Batty'. Loved these early episodes!
It's good to know that I'm not the only soppy old sod out there, I really miss tuning into that program on a Sunday as I did for over 30 years, it's not same watching the dvds. Cheers for the tour.
Fabulous. Keep ‘em coming. Sat on the tube watching series 13 on my iPad and in this hectic and rapidly changing world, LSOW is a daily comforting escape. Little did they know that all these decades later, they’d be bringing so much joy and peace to so many.
We have to be a little mindful of intruding on some residents' privacy, but here are some for you: The Path and Stairs that the girls walk down: Between Sid's Cafe and Church Terrace The Chapel and Graveyard: Holy Trinity Church Burial Ground The Laundrette: 17 Victoria Street, Holmfirth The Library: 104 School Street, Holmfirth (Walk 30 seconds between here and the river and you will see the steps that lead down to the tiddler drop off point) We hope that helps!

Looking up old episodes on Utube is sooo disappointing, the quality is crap? Do you know why, most other sitcoms are ok on Utube. Why don't you start uploading better quality episodes?
Been to Holmfirth twice. It is a lovely little town, and many of the locations are easily recognisable in real life. No wonder they chose to film the series there.
I have found a good way to make sure your kids remember you when you’re gone, bore them daily by watching LOTSW , my lot hate it but as soon the tune starts they whistle to it….. and then moan……Not Again !
It's about relationships, family, friendship, ageing, reminiscing, love, life & laughter .. the fundamental things in life. Done in a gentle slapstick kinda way but timeless & endearing. Cheer up petal 😂 😉
@@wandyy8078 you are missing the point of my comment: “Last of the Summer Wine” and “Seinfeld” share the unique quality of finding humor in the mundane aspects of life. They both excel at turning everyday situations and ordinary interactions into entertaining and memorable moments. It was way ahead of curve and way ahead of shows like Seinfeld.

i remember in the 90s as a kid watching last of the summer wine with my parent on a sunday before dreaded school the next day!

Just remember that the BBC were also able to organise moving cars out of the way for shooting. Holmfirth is busier now, but it's still a lovely place.

Excellent work! I've looked around the area for the stream in the past and not found it.
Just head for the south east corner of the co-op car park and you will find stairs that take you down to a calm little paved area by the river.
