We bought a Judge way back when they first came out and Federal sold a 2.5", 5 x 000 self-defense load that made a nice 2-3" pattern at 7 yards (21 feet) and opened to about a 6" pattern at 15 yards that I felt would be a great one-shot fight stopper. I know allot of people do not like the Judge, but for something like self-defense against a car jacker or even inside a house I think it is still a great option. Just my opinion.
Much appreciated presentation. The opinions in YT kand are very much all over the place when it comes to the judge. Your very easy to follow logic, proper ammo achieves desired results, is totally making sense. I think i snatch on up to pair it with my 66 and M44. Thanks for sharing 🙏👍
Im the type of guy who loves the shockwave, the sub 2000, and of course the judge. I think for someone who travels the judge would he a good snake gun and a decent bear gun. the poly version would have less to worry about rust
We have never considered the judge or governor, but anyone that has one does have a firearm, and a reasonably potent one at inside the house range...000 or .45 colt, either are much more than a .22 single action under duress...if such a firearm was all we had for HD, we'd feel okay with it, as a hand cannon can be effective...folks that bring up nightmare scenarios fail to realize that in some a bazooka/flamerthrower/ma deuce combo might also not be enough...sure, the firearm has limitations, every firearm has limitations...
@@AmmoMart For years my big boy go-to HD was a 20" breakaway 12 gauge with a deer slug in it, supplemented by 38 special snubbie. Of course, that was before our new reality of multi-attacker home invasions ...
@@joeblowfromidaho3642 That is a trend I wish more people would become acquainted with. You have to be aware and prepared for multiple attackers. They seem to have stumbled onto the strength in numbers concept too. Thanks for leaving a comment.
My local gun sales guy years ago said that they sold more Taurus Judges than almost anything else and it was the most returned gun they sold. Those are a hard pass for me.
I can understand why Judge fans defend their choice, & why Judge critics say buy a dedicated .410 or a dedicated .45. I'd just buy a .45 Colt revolver and use shot shell ammo as needed. The an$wer a$ to why The Governor i$ le$$ popular is obviou$. As Paul Harrell (RIP) says, "You be the judge." FTR he hated The Judge.
Thanks for the view and leaving a comment. I am not a huge revolver fan to begin with, so the Judge is not for me, but ballistically it did better than I expected. Thanks again.

With good ammunition choice, the Taurus Judge and S&W Governor are both excellent self defense options.
Nice presentation, thanks for your work on this.
Enjoy your channel. Great blend of ballistics, CC, firearms characteristics and history.
Federal handgun buck is the best performer. There have been countless videos about how much better it is than any other load, including Hornady's.
Good video. After watching a few of your videos, the Frank Hamer episode being one, I subbed. Look forward to future videos.

Thank you for watching. I was never sold on whether it would actually work, but like most things, with the right ammo, it certainly does.

great video on hornady critical ammo. would like to see one on pdx1 ammo
Lehigh Defense Maximum Expansion Hollow Point Copper .45LC - Your best round to carry. 😊
Absolutley agree with you
They also make the raging judge mag that also shoots the 454 casull

Same thought on hinge action firearms.
They are just awesome! Always loved them break action firearms. Thanks for the view and leaving a comment.

Great presentation. For improved aesthetics keep the white truck out of sight next time 😄

With some Federal Premium Handgun .410 and just about any .45 colt brand?..oh yeah, it's good..memed for little to no reason.
They also sell inserts for 9 mm so 1 gun that can run 3 calibers
Judge righteous judgment😑
Careful when buying a judge, as they can snitch on you.
Wym
I don’t think the Judge would be an effective pistol unless you go with the longest barrel option.

The ammo costs more than the gun!😅 I highly doubt I will ever buy one.
I still can't believe anyone would buy one of those.
That is why you fail.
Another keyboard idiot
Gimmick gun that requires expensive gimmick ammo. No thanks. 😑

The big question, is "better than expected" close to pretty good?
@Mattlock52 4" .357 works for concealed carry, HD and even hunting deer. Agreed!
@Mattlock52 Exactly I'll take a 357 too. Not this thing.
Disagree. Whether the 410 or the 45 long....it will definitely work for home defense. A little ginmicky....I'll give you that, but it works.
Circuit Judge revolving carbine seems like a good choice.
