Seems to me this playing style, with all that string bending and pick attacking, would be better for an overdrive pedal shootout. For fuzz pedals, the main thing is to hear what each pedal sounds like with a 2 string chord, then play Mary Had a Little Lamb with single notes.
I had this same thought. I just watched the fuzz pedal shootout from Anderton's, and it's the same damn thing. Rob Chapman trying to shred through a fuzz. Pointless.
@@sdlatson Haha... I mean come on, it's called a "fuzz" pedal for a reason. Let's focus on the quality of the groovy fuzz. Think Smashing Pumpkins. I'm sure fuzz pedals can be used for more, but let's just get the basics out of the way first.

I liked the very last one w/the olive drab green case best, it didn't sound as harsh as the others, and fuzz aspect had the most character in a mellow way.

Great hearing them side by side. Gives a nice snap shot of the differences in character between the pedals.
Probably a half dozen plus pedals I’d like to check out/own in their?
Some of those pedals have a multitude of sounds, but appreciate that you dialed them into a similar zone.

There are like a trillion fuzz boxes out there. My choice is the Hoof because it has the flavor I want and because I wanted an EQD pedal. Haha, I know I'm shallow

It feels like your clean tone used as a foundation is very quiet or "thin" sounding. Any reason behind that ?
Thanks man ! No I don't think so...it's a huge difference between "clean" and fuzz...everythig was recorded with "pro" specs.

Finally, someone who did a good showcase of the Keeley Fuzz Head. Such a cool pedal. Do you know what the inside fuzz intensity was set on? in the Middle?

What settings did you start with on the Katana? I bought a Wooly about 5 seconds into this video... exact tone im looking for. Just cant seem to dial the Katana in correctly to get that. Cheers.

Sometimes Hoof, sometimes FFF, Sasori too.2 fuzz pedals on the pedalboard is a must for me ;-)

But people have different tastes and chase different sounds...someone like aggressive germanium fuzz and the others hate it and likes silicons or even don't like fuzz at all :-D

Hello , I would like to put a feet in the fuzz world ...I always had OD boutique pedals and look for a first fuzz pedal experience, not too fuzzy ( sorry!), not too dark and muddy...a slightly fuzzy one...which one , not to expensive too ? Have you tried Mythos ones ?

Hey! There's a bunch of fuzz types.No I haven't tried Mythos yet.
I think that you have to try muff type,something like ehx green muff reissue....I like TC Electronic Honey Pot it's cheap and sound good,not too fuzzy (muddy).
Maybe it's easier to tell me what song/band do you like and we can start from there! ;-)

I can't decide whether I want the hoof fuzz or the spires fuzz...they both sound amazing!! I wonder if anyone who had both can help me out?
The Hoof is amazing,one of my favorite,Big Muff with the balls...with Spires you've got two fuzz pedal in one box.Spires "green" side is a vintage type of fuzz witch you can't get with the Hoof...you can go wrong with both ;-)

Hey sorry for the late reply ! I agree with you but we have a deal with BOSS to use Katana Artist for this shootout. For the next one it's gonna be Fender Princeton 68 or VOX AC15 C2 we'll see. Thanks for the comments and for watching ;-)

Need a fuzz to stick in front of axe fx 3, too much pick attack on almost every patch and the built in sims are shite
At the start of the vid I thought I liked fuzz but by the end I didn't want one
he played clean before almost everytime what is dude talking about
I love hearing a $5000 and up Gibson LP Historic with it's original glue methods, plastic down to the molecule, bone nut, carefully researched pickups and tone caps and on and on. Then you run it to a $3000+ boutique amp with celestion golds speakers. Oh yeah, first plug into a hardcore fuzzbox that totally destroys and runs your tone through a blender. Sounds like a am radio being microwaved. The more tortured the signal is the higher the price.

I got nothing from this video because you noodle the whole time. Most of the time demoing fuzzes you need to play some CHORDS to hear the distinguish sounds on a video. Can’t play a single one? I can’t stand demos that noodle the whole time. We know you can play, dude. 🙄

i agree with this in principle, i hate when people just do gilmour leads to show off fuzzes, but he's playing down low and using a lot of double stops and stuff which do show off the texture.
