  • In this video, I show my oil painting process for painting portraits. Painting for me has always been a form of meditation and this video hopes to portray that relationship between the two. I also hope you can get some insight into my process and technique.

    The detailed work in the flesh tones (and around the eyes) is astonishing. I could practice for years and I'd never master that. Well any of it to be honest.

      Ha, I was transfixed by the very same thing. A single dot of white put the full realism into that eye (in my eye).

      @@imacmill I'm learning to draw and the first time I learned this trick of making eyes look realistic, I was blown away myself and I still don't quite understand it fully. You add that highlight and suddenly it looks like a film of transparent liquid is over the eye. A similar thing happens when you learn to draw water droplets.

    • @lastbot7383
      @lastbot7383 2 роки тому +6

      @@kalilavalezina first of all there are different ways to paint a painting. You can do wet on wet like Sargent or you can do glazing like Bouguereau. I for a bit dislike some hyperrealistic styles where you get a big canvas and do a pixel-by-pixel copy (disclaimer I do not dislike this artist), because it is first easy to do unlike many people say, and second because of this painted process it lacks painterly quality or aesthetics. I like this artist's work in general, but I do not like this particular style which I think is overrated on the internet like those hyperrealistic charcoal drawings you see on social medias.

It would really visually "confuse" me to have one portion of the painting finished, while everything else was still in the sketch phase. I'm interested to learn more about your method but I feel I need to get more experience with oil painting before taking the plunge...My first oil painting teacher was a huge fan of Bouguereaux and your art reminds me of Bouguereaux.
