Supertramp became more pop, but Crime of the Century is an amazing Prog Rock album. Absolutely underrated band. So much more to them besides just Breakfast in America, which is still crazy good
@@Tityretupatulae I have those albums and I grew up in St Louis with Dave. I even saw one of his first shows opening up for Steppenwolf at The Ambassador Theater. Our radio station KSHE actually broke the band in in St Louis and made them big. I know from talking to him he never really cared for progressive rock or at least that label. He works just a couple miles from where I live.

Maybe even three separate times for the Keith Lake era, the John Wetton era, and the Adrian Belew era. The band that recorded "Fallen Angel" and "The Book of Saturday" was a very separate band from the one that recorded "Sartori in Tangier" and "Matte Kudasi."
Well, first of all, I do love a bunch of these Prog Rock artists…. 🎹 But almost 37 years ago I saw Yes live, during the Big Generator tour; and I saw the Moody Blues live over 4 decades ago. All I can say is that Jon Anderson’s vocals and Justin Hayward’s vocals were nothing short of tremendous and enigmatic…it was just absolutely wonderful to see them play and to hear them sing live…even better than on the records!! 🎤🎸🎤 ✌🏼& 🤟🏼
Kinda, but it depends what you consider progressive. You could technically consider a song like Magical Mystery Tour to be progressive in a way. Or Sgt. Peppers into With A Little Help From My Friends. I think the best candidate for a “progressive” Beatles composition would be the Abbey Road medley.
I listened to 5 full King Crimson albums and 5 Rush albums this weekend, I was impressed with the quality, my favorite albums were Red and the Rush album, although the Rush album is not as progressive, but you can notice some solos similar to Pink Floyd's. an addendum: I would put Traffic on this list
Too bad Pink Floyd or not a true progressive rock band. Although extremely popular they were known as art or psychedelic Rock and do not meet the criteria for progressive rock😮

Pink Floyd does not meet the criteria progressive rock was based my friend on fusing various forms of music together such as Jazz classical rock and even Blues on occasion. It was constructed a basic rapid time signature changes and rhythmic structures.. the music was long however did not have to be and usually enveloped a theme. Mystical themes themes of space time Adventure Magic. Kind of like art Rock on steroids. ELP and yes Encompass that perfectly and so did Genesis Rare Bird Renaissance nectar Armageddon however Pink Floyd and Moody Blues didn't quite fit into that category. If you're a Pink Floyd fan boy that's fine I'm not mad at you after all I like Echoes when it first came out as well as dark side of the moon but don't label them progressive rock they just are not. Days of Future Passed, In Search for the Lost Chord and On the Threshold of a Dream are all amazing albums. Days of Future Passed is a 10/10 album, highly recommended that one.

Rush and Pink Floyd are my two favorite bands, wish I could get more into some of these other ones mentioned. I wish I liked Genesis and King Crimson more than I do.
The complete absence of any second wave/neoprog bands like Marilion, Pendragon, King's X, or IQ, progressive metal groups like Pain of Salvation, Opeth, Nightwish, or even Dream Theater, or 21st century bands like Frost, The Decembrists, or Pure Reason Revolution tells me whoever made this is a casual fan at best.
The Moody Blues one I don't know In order from last to first: Lady Fantasy, Peel the Paint, Lucky Man, Thick as a Brick, Dancing With the Moonlit Knight, Roundabout The Rush song I've heard, but don't remember And the others are Easy Money and Echoes
Even though I enjoy ELP my father showed me an obscure German band called Triumverat which somehow do the ELP sound better than ELP. Captain Beyond is another obscure band but they've fortunately gotten some recognition in recent years. The last unknown progressive rock band I'll mention is White Witch, particularly their first album.

Did you not put ELO or Supertramp on here because they are more Prog Pop and a little less Prog than the rest of them? I can understand that they embody Classic Rock stylings more than these bands, which are much more Prog.

You find out what a versatile songwriter Pete was. If you haven't listened to Sell Out start to finish, give it a listen. It shows Pete's writing and he does more lead singing

Even if Pink Floyd is the best of these bands, they aren’t Prog enough to be number one. Songs such as Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, and nearly everything on Dark Side of the Moon, while amazing, just aren’t really Prog. Because of this I’d probably put it in third or 4th, behind King Crimson and YES and tied with Rush.
