That was great! It helped me to understand a little more about the nested data in BigQuery. Quick question: The company I work for is a Global company with more than 68 different country websites, using basically the same hostname (the only difference is the subfolder: e.g.: /en for USA or /en-it and /it-it for Italy). I'm struggling to create a Country filter based in the "page_location" to get the "page_title" of the page.. It doesn't work.. Do you know a way to solve that? Thanks again!
It should work. If you are using the default GA4 connector to test it out, then BQ to create a query where the page contains your string should work just fine. if you send us the query we might be able to point you in the right direction. -> Just join lookerstudio.vip/cheatsheet here and hit reply to any of the emails
@@Vision-Labs I'm using the BigQuery connector right now.. The GA4 connector worked fine, but with the Quota limits, I had to change to BigQuery. I'm going to send it by email for you guys! Thank you so much!
Very useful this video. Could you please tell us what is the logic behind your queries in bigquery? Like, how did you achieve the session source? did you use the first value of the source of a specific session?
Ohhhf that’s a touchy one to answer in a yt comment. We use the session if & the first know source of that information. Feel free to shoot me a message at hello@betterthandata.com for more info if. That works for you, -JJ
There are a ton of nuances to all attribution in BigQuery. Just keep that in mind in general that they won't line up exactly. - JJ PS, if you want to join BetterThanData.com/Join, we have an entire course where we use BigQuery & Analytics Canvas to get super close
Wow, BigQuery is a complete nightmare, congrats Google! If 'session source' is not viable, then what else is also not viable?! Starting to think BigQuery is a huge nothingburger.
Would unnesting all the column make it more expensive and would it have any chance of losing data if unnested please?
If you un nest it would make it more expensive. But no "lost data".

So session source is not reliable but how about session medium?

It really is just more complicated and inconsistent then it needs to be.
