  • 💥RACE FINISH💥
    Team The Big Oardeal🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿!
Today on Tuesday 23rd January at 11:11 local time, John Aston, John Solosy, Richard Janes and James Bracey crossed the finish line in English Harbour, Antigua after 41 days 6 hours and 44 minutes. The team arrived accompanied by heavy showers and BIG swells, making the last few miles extremely rough and difficult. The race media boat witnessed it first-hand and their gear got tested to the limit. Luckily our four brave rowers gave us a show on the oars and their incredible finish was indeed captured for life😅
Despite the challenging weather and high seas, Tuesday morning was well timed for the arrival as the dockyard was packed with cruise ship tourists, who got to behold a once-in-a-lifetime experience when the four bearded and salty-skinned men were suddenly gliding into the dock in a very little rowing boat. Flares were set off, family and friends were screaming and cheering for their team while the announcement of “Welcome to Antigua! You have made it 3,000 miles across the Atlantic ocean” sounded from the speakers. For sure holiday memories were created that special and unique moment. 🇦🇬
When James was asked about the experience he said, “Well…. the Atlantic it’s massive - it would have probably been a bit shorter if we went in a straight line!! So many emotions. We have talked about everything and nothing, we have come closer and talked about things that blokes probably never talk about - yeah it’s been good. But what I can tell you is that it was a one-off, a bloody good one-off!”.😂
