Air Creebec operates two freighter Hawker Siddeley HS748s on cargo routes in Northwestern Ontario from their base at Timmins. This show examines the Air Creebec HS748 operation at Moosonee, Timmins and Cochrane. Moosonee Operations Supervisor Doug Medd explains the operation. Filmed in HD. We never heard a peep from Air Creebec after we filmed this show and sent a case of 50 DVDs to the company. Can only guess the company hated it! Very weird stuff.
Nice to see these are still in service with air creebec. I used to do the loads for these coming out of Cochrane. Great folks all around in northern stores and Air creebec. It's a damn shame Greed and incompetence got the worst of Lloyd Richard's. If your reading this Doug. Thank you for all the support and help during those days. Keep these birds flying. RIP Jack.
Actually, I filmed this footage maybe 10 or 15 years ago. It’s my understanding that these aircraft were retired in the past several months replaced by new generation ATR 42s.
I love the old style prop aircraft. There are still a lot of them babies flying today. I can also understand getting the cargo delivered as fresh as possible
Actually, quite the opposite there are very few of these still flying .. maybe just one or two examples here in Canada l. I don’t even know if that is accurate. The type is pretty much extinct.
always loved this plane -and the HP Herald , beautiful Dart turboprops . Must be the neatest engine installation out there . Wales UK.
Totally agree. And now pretty much extinct sadly.
Taht metallic whistling sound. Music to my ears. Love you AVRO.
Indeed, I completely agree. It’s too bad that there aren’t very many HS748s still flying on planet earth in the year 2024.
I always loved 4-bladed turbo props like the RR Dart and Alison 250. They made a very comforting hum at full speed. 6-blade props don't make that comforting sound.
Lived in Moosonee from January 1976 to June 1980 while working for the MNR. Back in the day it was Austin Airways who had the HS748 fleet.
Yes they would have been the main airline back then. It is an interesting place Moose.
Dont they sound lovely? All my life Ive heard that lovely R-R Dart screaming whistle 😀😎
I love the Dart sounds too. When I worked in Yellowknife in the 1990s I used to live and savour the First Air HS748 action every day. My office was at the airport with a view to the terminal building.
Simply and absolutely superb...the aircraft and the sounds of the power' plants...a treat for aviation enthusiasts... thanks for sharing...!!
My pleasure, the full length film which is about 2 hours streams on the www.jetflix.tv aviation streaming service.
@@JetFlix thanks...!!
Man, I missed those Hawker HS 748. Calm Air was removed their Hawker Siddeley HS 748 from service. Great video!
Love the sound 👍
Music to the ears specially on wind up and spool down. I miss it.
DOUG!!! You're a star!!! Wow...
Some very amusing comments here guys .. !! Sorry I was not able to film coffee cups. Doug was somewhat camera shy. It was not easy to motivate him to appear on film .. so I am grateful for his making an appearance! I think he was none to sad to me depart for good with my video cameras!!
Liat the Caribbean airline flew these in the past !!!!
Yep!!...I grew up in Grenada and we called them ‘the Avros’. Cool airplane. Replaced by the ‘Dash-8’ and now the next gen ATR (if that dam company isn’t out of business yet...:-/)
Yea man I remember when them 'Avro LIAT' birds used to fly in and out of our old airport ET Joshua in St. Vincent. Memories of growing up in St. Vincent next to the airport. Sweet sound of RR Darts.
@@citysoundfm The Hawker Siddeley HS 748 is a medium-sized turboprop airliner originally designed and initially produced by the British aircraft manufacturer Avro. It was the last aircraft to be developed by Avro prior to its absorption by Hawker Siddeley.
Tough old birds, British Aerospace a/c are a love hate love thing but , these 748’s can take such a beating..... I miss the screaming Darts
Hey that's the first time I seen Doug Medd come out of his office.......and on the forklift taboot...
Tried to observe the sound of HEIU (60 Sparks per minute 😂😂😂) while starting of Stbd Engine. But the ground crew stalled my mission while trying to put the ladder in through the CFD.
Ive seen a few RR Dart engines do that little puff of smoke...
SUPER
Brand name soda must cost a lot up north!
And everything else including eggs, lettuce, potato chips, you name it cost a fortune up there.

The only thing inaccurate with this video is nobody's holding coffee cups
Tax dollars supplying the James Bay coast !
A lot of bufu in northern Canada!
