I used to be a cake decorator and I have made 3D cakes and Ive never stuffed Styrofoam in a cake! I don't feel like that's worth the price because its not all edible, at least they should have made it out of rice crispies.
I've watched a lot of Food Network cake competitions and had the same reaction. These all would have been dinged in a competition for using styrofoam. I understand that it's a time saver but no one wants to find plastic in their cake while they're eating. I don't know if the bakeries were informed that the cakes would be in a video so they thought they could get away with it or what.
They are lazy and ripping people off

Cake 1 is more colour accurate to the plushies, but 4 is closer to her actual colour. They all looked really good, though.

I have a request… next time is it possible to reveal each one then have them all sitting side by side before doing the taste tests? I just really like the idea of having a shot of the line of cakes plus blueberry muffin sitting next to it! If not, no worries!

I don't like the idea of having styrofoam in my cake, no matter how little, so #3 is the only place I'd consider getting cake from.
I like the look of cake #1 the best, the coloring felt the most accurate to her on the video imo. I like the flavor idea of cake #3 the best, it's the most out of the box flavor idea and it looked like it tasted really good. (Nothing against chocolate, I just really like the uniqueness of piña colada cake) but! I think cake #4 definitely was the most worth the money. The details were there, it was all cake! And it had a cool flavor combo in my opinion.
I do love that cake #2 was buttercream and not fondant though!

Visually I actually preferred the third one while 3D is cool styrofoam isn’t as appetizing. Very expensive though.
I thought the "improperly mixed" buttercream was good. The variation in color made a more convincing grass texture than solid green would have done.

@@kandy1643 Grass is messy, too. If it's not messy, it looks like astroturf.
@@TwelveBadgersInASuit my yard doesn’t look like that.. what yard has white patches. They didn’t even try to cover the whole thing. The method they used to place the grass was messy as well and looked really unappetizing, they could have done stokes of grass to make individual blades.

I think 2 and 4 were bigger than Blueberry. I think colorwise 1 was really good, but 4 was my favorite because it was all cake. Those kind of prices I'd hate having to throw away the majority of the "cake" and just getting the butt half.
