I have to say, you are doing a fantastic job on that boat. Well done old boy. All the best. James
the boat is looking fantastic, and given you are working by yourself, and supporting physically and emotionally both Hudson and Carlie, plus I'm sure not sleeping through the night, I have to say you are trooper Dom...cheers
Good job, thanks for letting us follow your progress. For me I'm forever trying to figure out jobs I've never done before. Thank goodness for UA-cam.
Wow! That tread rejuvenator worked great! Looks new.
Man, that’s quite an achievement! Looking spiffy as few 🥳
Mate, you are doing a spectacular job and somehow managing to bring us all along with you. Top notch work as far as I can see.
She's looking good! Looking forward to seeing the four of you out on the water again. Pat Hank on the head for me.
User whiteboard marker + smear it around the area with acetone to get consistent colored surface when applying a gel-coat and THEN sand it. It'll help you to see how flat if the surface.
Your welcome ;)
I like that oh Glorious Sanding!
A classic nod to the sanding aficionado himself, Mads 😆
I hate to associate you or the channel with anything porcine, but you sir, are a ham; a ham of the most entertaining variety. 😀😀😀. Also, you are a master with masking tape..
Nice job mate. Remember, gelcoat is supposed to stay tacky, even after being cured, since it's designed to be used against a mould and followed by layers of impregnated glass. If you want to use it as top coat, you need the wax to get rid of the tackyness. Keep up the good work.
As a fellow amateur when it comes to big boat work, (dinghy’s a lot easier), I pick up lots of tips from your hard work and endeavours. She’s looking good Dom, look forward to seeing her out of the shed.
That makes two of us ☺️🙏🏼
I would have thought it's recommended to sand wood with the grain rather than cross grain. The boat is looking fabulous! Your hard work is paying off.
Absolutely beautiful work!!
Well done and the results prove it...
Fantastic, thanks for sharing.
Ah, yes. I also found out the hard way about gelcoat and flocoat. 😄 I hope the Treadmaster keeps going for a bit longer.
plan B looks good
you can paint on some PVA (poly vinyl alcohol) so it cures and then wash it off.
Every day is always a school day in this comments section 🙏🏼😬
Ditch the treadmaster its UV degraded and goes hard, it loses its designed flexible grip. i'd recommend taking it back to origional gel coat, paint it with 2 part Poly paint, sprinkle with Jotun aluminium oxide anti slip then over paint it to seal it in.
That sounds like a great idea…… for next time 😬
Great job! I think the texture in the finish is from the roller, I know it's a pain in the A*&^ but try a soft good quality brush
Nope. It's just what gelcoat does. Gelcoat's weird.
They don't call it "The Learning Curve" for nothing. All this will stand you in good stead in 20 years for the next major overhaul.
If you can remember all those lessons learned after 20 years!
@@sailingheretic Much easier if you can consult yourself on UA-cam!
Flow coat is what you need
starting with 180 sounds rather aggressive to start with. Definitely requires care and finesse. I personally would have started with 300. But there is definitely not a right or wrong way per-se, it just easy to be too aggressive when you start.
We miss Hank...
8 layers are ok, because of 16/2.
Look forward to seeing you in a bright blue jump suit and out of breath.
Blue jump suit? Not sure I follow, am I being slow? Certainly a very real possibility 😆
@@CadohaAdventures response to Challenge Anneka remark :) I didn't think you would want to be in a Pink suit.
@@BrianM0OAB ha ha, it’s 2024, we men can all embrace pink suits now….. right?……… right? 😬😬😬🤣
@@CadohaAdventures Well I'm a tad older than you so that probably makes me a bit old fashioned, I don't do Pink it doesn't match my eyes lol
