I'm almost 28 a few years ago I was in a deep depression and I friend invited me to go to this comic book event, it was pretty cool there was a local guy making this HP Lovecraft inspired story so I went, I found out it was a nearby a place were people rented out tables to play board games, I found out that kids and adults still played YGO I decided to buy a deck more for nostalgia's sake and play with my friend, we got super into and I started going out to play it really helped. Thanks Yu-Gi-Oh.

Don't forget majority of the time the main character breaks the rules or does some thing that makes no sense like fuse a magic card to a monster card with polymerization to some how cripple a blue eyes ultimate dragon. With the power of cheating & creativity, saving the world is a piece of cake.
Also, having the dead guy cheat your friends out of well deserved wins. (Looking at you Duelist Kingdom final and Battle City semifinal.)

This song is pretty clever. Uses cards and dueling as a metaphor for life. It really has nothing to do with actual dueling or Yu-Gi-Oh! but a lot of kids probably didn't notice back then, or at least didn't care so long as the song used words relating to the show/movie/game.
Ehh, there may be a few that noticed... after all, the literal first line is "Life's just a game."... kids are smarter then they are given credit for.
I agree, this song is the ultimate underdog tune. Everyone feels like this at one point or another in their life.

I remember that growing up, most people were either a Yu-Gi-Oh kid or a Pokemon kid. I was one of the few Yu-Gi-Oh kids at my school. Granted I loved both shows (like most people), but preferred Yu-Gi-Oh.
Yea I was a Yu-Gi-Oh! Kid as well. I think i liked the more mature theme of the show. And the tcg was a lot of fun as well.
BabyCassia I was both (more yugioh), but I was too good and so damn lucky that nobody in my neighborhood wanted to duel me so then I turned more to pokemon (specifically the games) and now I'm the closet thing to a Pokemon Professor, but unfortunately I may retire with the pokemon franchise depending how Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon goes. On the plus side when yugioh darksides of dimensions was confirmed I refound my love of duel monsters.

My favorite thing about watching syndicated Saturday morning cartoons, especially Yu-Gi-Oh, was that EVERYONE would talk about the episode when we went back to school on Monday. Talk about a class discussion! ^^ Those were the days...

Honestly growing up being a kid apart of the 2000's yugioh, gx , and 5ds were the best ever tbh they were so iconic.. 🔥 until the world started getting sensitive and made the newer shows more Kiddish , like we weren't kids too lol. the world is something else. we'd probably still have dope shows and real songs if the world didn't flip over haha. but it's alright though 😂😊

I remember the first time I heard this, it wasn't on the yu-gi-oh movie cd... it was on a disc that mcdonalds was giving with their happy meals with 5 cards a year or 2 prior to the movie, some rare cards, some not, it was like an activity game, main goal was to find all 7 millenium items

Listening to this in my mid 20’s and remembering all the duels I had when I was younger and imagining we were at battle city and taking pride in our decks while this song played in our room is what yugioh meant to us. Now these lyrics and the series’ theme and messages mean so much more

I grew up on the manga, the "Music To Duel By" cd, and also a cd-rom that I got in a garage sale that seems to have been a McDonalds collab thing. It had the shortened theme, a 2nd song I still can't remember, and this song. And since it was a cd-rom (so much cooler than a simple cd!) it also had games & a video you could access if you put in the pc cd drive. #SoEpic
Mcdonalds had some exclusive cards as Happy Meals for a time, with 1 of 3 CDs packed in: Yugi, Kaiba or Pegasus. Every CD had this song, but the rest were varied. I'm sure there's playlists for them on UA-cam.

It could also be thought of as a deeper thing, like life itself. "Stacked the deck myself so there's no one else to blame" Made your own choices so there's no one else to blame for the turn out. "Are we just puppets in a master plan?" Guess you could call it society as a metaphor, are we acting as ourselves or how society wants us to act or other things like that. Either way it's a great song in my opinion.

Before the movie came out, did anyone else get this song in a really small cd as a kid? The cd had like 3 songs on it. I'm having trouble remembering if it was from BK, McDonald's, or from a cereal box. But anyways, the song takes me way back.

I've been playing Digimon lately and as I game I like to have something play in the background cuz training your Digi can get a little tedious. As I finished the first 4 Digimon series during my 40 hours of play (not even close to finishing the game), Hulu automatically went to Yu-Gi-Ohthen this song came up. All of it just takes me back to my childhood.
