Are you going to be playing w/ JL in Philly on the Christmas CD tour?
Do they play Real Jazz here? She asked with charm & complete naivety? He responded without cracking a smile: Yeah. Jazz Fusion. Do YOU play? Pretending to be modest: Sometimes. Would you play a few requests from me? No answer, but a sort of nod. -- At the ending of the evening when the musicians were packing it up, the trombone she noticed already put to bed, she got up her NJ courage, went right up to him in the midst of the guys packing and told him, demandingly: You didn't play even ONE of my requests and "I" stayed to 2 AM! But it's packed up . . . Well, get it out. C'mon.
He did and played--solo--as people watched--right up to her face, breaking a smile as he started "Yesterday" . . . and she sang the words, quietly along. And left.
