Brienne conveniently forgets that Renly wasn't the good guy. You may have loved him, but he tried to usurp his brother's position. Stannis had every right to kill him.
Traye76 and also Brienne talks as if assassination through blood magic was the worst thing ever. Dishonourable? Sure. But it saved thousands upon thousands of lives
In our world, of course it is wrong, and to be fair even in GoT world it is wrong, but he didn't do it with pleasure, it broke him but he is too good of a leader to show his weaknesses. It was, after a lot of his men left him, and it the only thing he could do to win.He has already seen what Melissandre magic does with king's blood, so it was not a shot in the dark. And as he said, we march to victory or we march to defeat, but we go forward !
+Alex Ciocan Well, according to Westerosi Law, he is the ONLY person that did things right. If Gendry was legitimized he'd have a stronger claim than Stannis but that was not the case. Eddard Stark knew Stannis was the only rightful King and died informing him. Everyone else was doing whatever gave them more power, regardless of what was right.
"And it is important that the individual books refer to the civil wars, but the series title reminds us constantly that the real issue lies in the North beyond the Wall. Stannis becomes one of the few characters fully to understand that, which is why in spite of everything he is a righteous man..."
Nick den Toom Davos read the letter and then reported the message to stannis, which he believed him immediatly. So he really understood which was the real danger.
Georgey Boy He is the last man of honor and justice in Westeros, a land full of corruption and greed. A KING that would have balanced the region with honor, demanded..... Only in a just world would his sacrifices be noted. TO THE TRUE KING!!
From Theon I, The Winds of Winter "It may be that we shall lose this battle," the king said grimly. "In Braavos you may hear that I am dead. It may even be true. You shall find my sellswords nonetheless." The knight hesitated. "Your Grace, if you are dead - " " - you will avenge my death, and seat my daughter on the Iron Throne. Or die in the attempt." D&D Logic´s: Let´s burn Shireen by Stannis´ order.
It's those book quotes amongst others that made me decide not to include Shireen's burning in this video. She may still be burnt alive in the books, but the circumstances for it to occur will be dramatically different.
I've heard that IN THE BOOKS Stannis wanted Shireen on the Iron Throne if he didn't survive. Of course, your quote is from The Winds of Winter, which actually hasn't been published yet, so...
+Sexual Potatoes It cleared the snow. Lol, which is bullshit. Shireens blood being used to clear weather... yea bullshit. That blood allowed Jon to come back.
It's hard to sacrificed the one and only daughter he had, but he do it to save thousands of life. Of course King Stannis doesn't know if it's going to work or failed he just do what Mel said. I know that King stannis is kinda stupid, he shouldn't trusted Mel the red bitch
Stannis is the most fit person in Westeros to lead against the threat of the Others , not just because of what he is , but also because of what he did. He's the king who still cared !
"I had the cart before the horse, Davos said. I was trying to win the throne to save the kingdom, when I should have been trying to save the kingdom to win the throne." The King who cared.
I believe that all of the great characters killed by the plotting hands of D&D should form an alliance against Targaryen scum, the northern bastard, the false queen and finally the White Walkers... Imagine a team up between Stannis, Randyll, Roose, Tywin and Baelish.

Why do so many people love Stannis? Because they see a touch of Stannis in them. Real king eats stale meat in Dragonstone while Cersei orders leftovers to be given to dogs in the same episode. Stannis is the ugly child whereas his brothers were maiden's fantasy. How he made Davos his hand in the books is just brings tears to eyes. A man so lonely that his only true friend is a honest smuggler, even the most honorable Lords doesn't join him while they knew his cause is just.
I am applying for an American university. I never ask for this. No more than I ask to be free. We do, not, choose, our destiny. But we must do our duty, no? Great or small we must do our duty!
Stannis Baratheon is the one true king. 1. He fought to rescue Sansa. 2. He fought for Ned stark. 3. He respected Jon and regarded him highly calling him Lord commander of the Night's watch with a token of respect all while everyone called him bastard all the time. 4. He was a man of justice( Davos said it many times). 5. He even burned his own only beloved daughter for defeating Boltons and rescuing Sansa which helped Sansa to escape Winterfell and beg for help to Jon (An act for which everyone hates him now, but only idiots who do not understand the context behind it, as if he loved doing it). 6. He gave his word to the Jon about making the wildlings citizens of the realm once they help him win Kingslanding, something even Ned( the so-called nicest guy in GOT) wouldn't do. 7. Mance rayder respected him and wished him luck after hearing that proposal but dickhead was too proud to bent the knee and deserved to be burned alive since he didn't care for his people. 8. Jon snow hypocritically refused to Stannis for saving his sister Sansa but agreed when she escaped and begged him for help. 9. Stannis took the Whitewalker threat seriously and rode North even though he never saw one himself, something that even Ned wouldn't do as we saw before. The King who cared. 10. " We do not choose our destiny, but we must do our duty, great or small, we must do our duty" 11. " I will take back the north from the thieves who stole it, I will mount roose bolton's head on a spike. I will fight to free Winterfell, or die trying." All while the other Northern houses refused to fight with him and some of them fought for the traitorous Boltons like the Umbers and Carstarks. Interestingly, these were the cowards who forced Robb to refuse supporting Stannis' claim (something his far superior father Ned stark was ready to die for) and fight with him and to make North an independent kingdom like the fucked up Iron Islands. And now, these cowards refuse fighting to free Winterfell from the most despised house in the North. He fulfilled his duty till the very end as a result of which we see a better North politically speaking compared to season 5. THE ONE TRUE KING - STANNIS BARATHEON
Tbh at first I didn’t care about Stannis, I thought he was just a grumpy and useless character and I realized how important he was to the game of thrones story because he is the only character who shows honesty and honour all along the series and books he never do something against duty so even when he died he asked to do what was right meaning to kill him, he understood he had to die for duty, he stayed the same person with the same values and this is quite remarkable in the game of thrones
This is the best Stannis tribute out there. Pity not more views. What I love about the mannis is the idea of someone with great promise and rights being consumed by religion (his sigil is literally enflamed with it). It's a tragic tale, made even more painful by the fact that his martial, righteous, spartan command, is the kind of thing that we want and need. Someone to believe in and follow, to free us from this soft and feckless age of doubt, fear and filth. There's so much to admire, but he's not the leader that fate has in stall. And the story is steering towards the notion that leadership is more than legal right or even military might - but there's a mystical/moral dimension that, if absent, disaster cannot help but ensue. So we carry our grief for Stannis but we are swooped up in hope by Jon's Targaryen restoration.
Yeah, i've almost finished them. But it's clear so far (and given GRRM's collaboration with the tv show) that he's doomed. I like to think book Stannis will go down better than tv Stannis, but then again, this is GRRM. Maybe the end will just be a banal, random, brutal shock, like so many other death scenes. Running into Brienne while he's taking a piss, for instance.
Nah I wouldn't have said it if I didn't make sure that it wasn't from me first. I usually listen to everything on 30% volume but for this vid I had to go to over 70% to be able to hear anything, maybe the problem is from UA-cam rather than the uploader for all I know.
It would be an honor to die in battle side by side with the Stannerman that made this tribute to the One True King. As great an honor as dying at the side of the King himself (almost)
I like to think that Stannis also went North to help out the only one that made his claim worth something (Eddard Stark). I think he did this out of respect too and kindness ;-; Killing him off and shortening his story was the dumbest thing D&D could do; even dumber than killing Doran off so that his brother's wife could do the exact same thing he was going to do anyway (team up with Danny)
Nah, an off screen death is pretty shitty regardless of the character. Also D&D have absolutly no respect for the character of Stannis Baratheon, or we wouldn't have gotten the absolute shit show that was season 5 and the fanaticism with Red Rhaloo that is only present in the show.
He’s just a more interesting realistic character, Jon and Daenerys are too morally perfect and rely largely on luck and deus ex machina moments, Stannis is morally admirable but a miserable ass and has to claw his way through the series
+Revenant Let me ask you a question. I don't mean to be rude but. Before you made this tribute you had about 10 subs. In one day you got 30k views and 30 subs. I made two tributes and only have 8 subs and not even 100 views. How did you do this?

I agree. I like her but her love for Renly clouded her judgement.
Traye76 Brienne betrayed his fathers King and Lord
I have always thought Brienne was a pretty damn ignorant hypocrite. Never liked that character.
robert bereathion was 4th of his line though if i recall correctly...
Stephen Dillane portrayed Stannis masterfully. Props to him. Deserved more recognition.
Yea Charles Dance all the way!
Especially considering Dillane never watched the series or read the books because he found it too heavy
Russell BELL Yup and D&D wasted his character for "female empowerment". FML.
especially considering the fact that D&D ruined stannis character....Stephen Dillane did an amazing job in spite of D&D
I just realised the one who played Tom riddle in Harry Potter HBP id his son.

Nah, an off screen death is pretty shitty regardless of the character. Also D&D have absolutly no respect for the character of Stannis Baratheon, or we wouldn't have gotten the absolute shit show that was season 5 and the fanaticism with Red Rhaloo that is only present in the show.
Since he was the fans favorite "one true king" they tried to fuck him up as much as they can to change that to Dany.
A true leader.
I love how all these normies love Jon or daenerys. but the only mannis in this series is stannis
I love Jaime and the Lannisters but Stannis the one true king
Yeah.. we go forwards only foreword
He’s just a more interesting realistic character, Jon and Daenerys are too morally perfect and rely largely on luck and deus ex machina moments, Stannis is morally admirable but a miserable ass and has to claw his way through the series
This is a brilliant tribute!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Let me ask you a question. I don't mean to be rude but. Before you made this tribute you had about 10 subs. In one day you got 30k views and 30 subs. I made two tributes and only have 8 subs and not even 100 views. How did you do this?
Indeed the one true king, Stannis Baratheon!
Joffrey, Renly, Robb Stark: they're all thieves. They'll bend the knee or I'll destroy them
My king
The Show has done an injustice to Stannis, he's a much better and complex character in the books.
The flaming crowned stag Stan is Baratheon
Imagine a king fighting his own battles ❤
AWESOME VIDEO, congratulations!
