Nail Drill Hand Piece Repair- fixing your Melody Susie hand piece (especially after chalk death)

  • Hey everyone!!
If any of you have tried to make colored acrylic out of chalk, you probably heard the warnings that it can kill your drill. If your drill stopped due to this, or just stopped working one day, here is how to fix it.
    NOTE.
This video doesn’t go over any electrical or really mechanical repairs. It just covers a basic tear down, clean up, and inspection for any broken parts or clogs. ESPECIALLY if you tried to make colored acrylic at home.
Or if your drill stopped turning but still has power.

    You are honestly a lifesaver.
My drill wasn’t vibrating or spinning at all. But the power light was still coming on.
Did everything u said … my drill is now good as new!
    Thank you so much.

Girl thank you so much! This video saved me from buying a whole new drill! Took mine apart to clean it and I didn’t realize I had dropped the two little washers or bearings until I saw your video. I have carpet on the floor so they were buried in there but I took a bag of magnets that I have for magnetic polish and rolled it over the carpet until they picked up the two little washers/bearings.
I put the drill back together as per your video and voila! It works beautifully! 😊

Thank you SO MUCH for this video!!! I have a melody Susie drill, that I LOVE! I've only had it.... eight months, little under a year. And its stopped working. I've never grinded chalk with it, nor would I. I'm not gonna lie, I have tried the chalk thing, but I used an old, really cheap drill for that. And it STILL WORKS! I think I paid $20 for it, maybe little less, it was cheap. And it's probably five years old. I honestly dunno how the thing is still working. Lol. But it burns, it don't go slow enough for natural nails, don't go fast enough for acrylic. I mostly use it for my toes and the chalk thing. Anyway, enough of my rambling about that. My melody Susie is PERFECT! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Well, was perfect, I did love it. It started just rattling, then it stopped. The numbers will come on, I can feel the hand piece trying to start, kick on, but won't. When I tried moving the bit myself it would start going around but slowly, and would stop as soon as I would apply any pressure. Now it won't come on even if I move the bit to try n get it going. But I can still hear and feel it trying to start, kick on...... I'm gonna try this cleaning thing. I hope it works! Mine may be something different though. I've used it a bunch, never cleaned it, didn't know I could. Never used a guard. But I've been SO SO careful with it! Haven't dropped it, misused it any way. I really can't afford a new one, my old one as I said is junk. But I've got one in my cart, was about to place the order and let my baby daddy/ boyfriend bitch for spending the money (which he will do) ...... okay this is long enough, too long, sorry! If you never read this I won't blame ya! But if you do and have any advice other than cleaning let me know plz. Haven't tried cleaning yet, gonna try it. But if that's not the problem I hate to go through all that. Especially with my son running around lol..... okay thanks again! Lots of love and God bless!

Ps the dog and the squirrel story is funny! I laughed. Thanks for that too! I have a cat, and he catches and kills every little thing that comes in our yard. Poor little critters. I try n stop him! Have a few times, I've saved a couple birds, a mouse. Lol. But I've NEVER seen a squirrel in Mt yard EVER I've lived here three years! Not even close to my yard, in the trees, nothing. I dunno if Mr kitty gets them all, or if they are too smart for him and know not to come here. Haha... lots of love to you and your doggies! And the naughty little squirrel lol.

Then thought I’ll look for trouble shooting online and came across your video. Fantastic!!!! I took it apart as you did and cleaned it out, I think moisture got in it as it looked a bit rusty. I hope you still respond to questions. Your video is pretty old, but has a wealth of valuable information so thank you so much! But I just got the Melody Sue Jade SR3 drill. Like I bought it less than a week ago. It worked fine for my first manicure. I loved it. I really only used it for 15 minutes. But I went to do a pedicure a few days later and the hand peice stopped rotating. I can even hear the motor in the hand peice going. It clicks on, then sounds like it's rotating but it's not. Unfortunately I have tried every way you have suggested to taking off the first peice on the bottom of the hand peice(WD-40, hair dryer), I even used channel locks. It's not coming apart. I already scratched it now so if I return it it's going to be obvious I messed with it. I tried their customer support. That's a joke. I'm hoping there is another way of getting inside the hand peice. I really think that we might not be able to access it from that bottom peice on some models.

Do you think getting another motor will work because I’m having the same issue I didn’t realize when I turned it off it wasn’t all the way shut off wasn’t spinning but on enough to when I touched it later on it was so hot I turned it on it spins for a bit then stops so I ordered on on AliExpress it will be here today so hopefully that works because I tried to clean it and it didn’t work so I’m thinking because it was in for hours that it blew the motor any advice??

Sounds like it may need greased or the bearing inside that holds the rod the wire wheel is on, is shot. Try greasing the rod to see if it helps, cause it may be just sticking

Hi! It sounds like the bit lock is stuck open, in which case it’ll turn on but not spin. Pulling it apart, and cleaning could help. But if not, replacement Hand pieces are fairly inexpensive. You can get them used on eBay Or on aliexpress. Just double check the plug type

    • @kristimayes2017
      @kristimayes2017  2 роки тому

It should, they all typicallyhave that same build. If the top won’t come off try using some oil around where the threads are. It sounds like dust is packed in there which would cause both problems. Also if it won’t come off, try blowing in the top while turning it up and down
