I've been watching your lessons for quite some time now. I really like that you also take the time to discuss tone (gear) and pick choices. Very informative for someone like me who's constantly changing picks to find new sounds. Thank you for that :)
It's one thing to be a swinging guitarist but your teaching ability is top notch as well! So glad i have found your video's. My guitar playing has gained some quality licks and rhythms. :)
Just stumbled upon this Alex and fits with where I'm studying at the moment.......Pentatonics and how to blend the M & m. Absolutely know what you mean regarding the predominance of clean blues; which robs this incredible music of it's roots and soul IMHO. Great lesson and some nasty riffs up, down and across the neck.....will be studying this one and thanks for sharing.

Wow 28 thousand views, really impressive (and deserved) the way the channel has grown. Love the tone and playing as always get something out of these lessons.
Hi Alex I have been in a guitar rut of late but watching you play and hearing the sound of your guitars inspires me to get back to my tele caster !! It has been dormant for a long time You are a great player and the tracks sound great!!
Never been here before, but your playing resonates with me - liked and subscribed. You sound so much better than most of those "famous" studio musician channels, to me anyways. Some of them make me wonder who pays them to play on their recordings, because they sure don't sound good to me. Cheers!
Dear Alex thanks for your great guitar tutorials have learnt a lot indeed, the twangy country blues is what a lot of us find to be awesome, and your expertise in displaying all your guitar mastery is great.
Brilliant! Thanks. I agree, we need more grit and groove in our blues. IMO tone is in the ears, so your suggestion to listen to the artists you mention is key. I'm a big fan and long time user of JazzIII picks, but I think I'll check out the H3.
Thanks mate, really glad you enjoyed the video. Ah yes, the original jazz 3 is my most used pick of all time for sure, but the H3 is fast becoming my go-to recently 👌🏻
My favourite "old school" but more recent blues guitarist is Jimmy Vaughan (brother of the more famous SRV) on the first two Fabulous Thunderbirds albums. He plays all the same blues licks we all do but his phrasing is just that little bit different to make them sound his.
@@AlexFarranGuitar Hi...enjoying your channel very much. That Nachocaster is a fancy piece of kit!...just checked out the prices (gulp). I'll be sticking with my partscaster for the time being!....Jimmy Vaughan...first two Fabulous Thunderbirds albums "Girls go wild" & "What's the word" for his best playing. He uses his thumb/fingers now but I don't think he sounds anywhere near as good as he did then. They just had THAT sound before commercial pressures etc forced them into a different direction.
Hi Alex, another great lesson. I’ve been looking at Nacho’s myself…he offers a lot of options ie pickups and wiring. I’m curious what you chose? Did you get the early 50s Broadcaster wiring and pickups or the later 50s/early sixties wiring and pickup voicings? Thanks
Hey buddy, thanks for the comment 🙏🏻 I went with the 50’s pickups, but with the “late 67 wiring” where the middle position is neck and bridge in parallel. These pickups are shockingly good! I had originally chosen 60’s style pickups but Nacho himself said he felt once fitted, they were too bright for this guitar so I trusted his advice and switched to the 50’s pickups.. very glad I did! 👌🏻
"Imagine you just escaped from prison and you’re on the run,and someone throws a guitar your way while you’re in a croc-infested swamp somewhere in Louisiana.. Thanks, this is brilliant. Super tasty as always but sadly never as effortless to play as you make it appear! The Nachocaster is a wonder to behold. I'm curious, did you go for a vintage neck radius or something flatter? I will dust off the King of Tone when I have a crack at this one...
Thanks for the comment buddy, really glad you enjoyed the lesson! Man, you'll get it down effortlessly with some practice I'm sure! I went with a 9.5" radius on the Nacho and it feels so good. A nice chunky soft V neck profile too. 👌🏻
Thanks mate! I haven’t tabbed out the backing track, but I’ll do a video soon on some essential blues grooves, and that’ll include some ideas for one-chord vamps like that 👍🏻
Alex, I went to the link you had to purchase the tracks and it took me to their page but it just locked up when I hit 'backing tracks' and as well, when I hit 'store'. I thought you might like to know...
Ah, just what I needed. Been jamming to Folsom Prison Blues a lot lately. You play some sweet nasty train whistle licks here. I need to learn them. How much does such a Nachocaster cost?
Nice one buddy, thanks for the comment! 🙏🏻 I believe the Nachocasters cost around 6000 euros currently. Still much less than a Fender Masterbuilt though and far superior in my opinion! 👌🏻
@@AlexFarranGuitar Maybe one day I will buy one from him. I live not so far from him. Playing electric guitars is quite new to me. I play acoustic and sing professionally.
