They should prohibit the government from borrowing from the “trust fund” and sell off some government assets to fund it and raise the SS tax on large corporations that get subsidies from the government.
They need to raise the cap - so those making over $170,000/year continue to pay 6% into social security beyond the $170,000/year income cap. It’s not rocket science.
They will just cut benefits for wealthy people. Which basically is cutting benefits for the people who paid in the most over their careers. The government just penalizes you for being successful
Tax wealth and put that money into paying back ss. The working class are the ones that have worked their butts off for the billionaires to get the money
I had a sister who worked her entire life starting at 13 in a restaurant until she got cancer and died at 54. Never got to receive any of her social security money. Brother died at 63 and had only been social security for a year after having worked since he was 16. I wonder where all that money goes that they paid into the system. Maybe to other people?
Social Security solvency is an easy fix. Raise the income ceiling from $180,000 or whatever it is now to $500k or one million. Make the wealthy pay their fair share. I don’t understand why this isn’t a brought up. It’s always about cutting benefits for those who need it most.
Please tell people that Trump is not planning to get rid of SS. I feel so bad for people who believe what the media tells them about this. It’s unfair to them and causes unwarranted anxiety. 😥
If everyone paid into Social Security, even those earners who make more than $168,600.00, would that help? Maybe there should not be an income ceiling on who pays into it.
As the government scale down its agencies, saving billions of dollars in the process, can we assume that re-allocation of the saving would include salvaging the Social Security sinking boat?
If the government makes changes to Social Security again, we should all opt out and put our money into individual retirement accounts, it would be worth way more than what you get from Social Security pay out when you’ve contribute to a private plan for 40+ years!
So wasn’t it running out in 1983 when they made changes. And those changes affected my retirement 42 yrs ago. So whatever the changes are I’m hoping they affect younger folks that have plenty of time to change course on their retirement plans. Don’t change it for us in our 50s and 60s.
Social Security has to be there. The Government collects it for 40+ years before we can even collect. They changed it slightly in 1983 and that’s what they’ll probably do(bring it up to 68 as FRA). They should leave early retirement alone at 62, We already receive less.
I think there’s no way lawmakers allow SS benefits to ever, ever get reduced. This would be suicidal to their careers, especially any party leadership, from both parties. Toxic subject.
Yeah they forgot to tell us in school you know you need to put money in your own little private fun and not just rely on Social security. In a lot of things I've seen on here people like Social security is not to be meant to live off of it is like a supplement thing to go with what you saved all your working years. There's a lot of people out here not working and paying into it. Then when they get older they'll say oh I have a disability so they can draw money to live off of.

We got endless federal tax money for wars.
They should prohibit the government from borrowing from the “trust fund” and sell off some government assets to fund it and raise the SS tax on large corporations that get subsidies from the government.
Agree
I've heard this all my life, and I'm 60 YO
Same here. 59 y/o and SS was not gonna be around when I retired so I needed to make other plans.
The world was going to run out of oil by 1990. I remember it vividly.
They need to raise the cap - so those making over $170,000/year continue to pay 6% into social security beyond the $170,000/year income cap. It’s not rocket science.
Make it 6% of all income problem solved
Cut welfare, not SS that we pay into all of our working lives. You never hear them say they will cut welfare. 🤑
Hopefully, you're talking about corporate welfare and not trying to blame poor people for bad management.
@@originalsilvergirlywelfare is intended to help “poor” people get back on their feet, it’s not intended to be a profession.
Put the tariff money into the SS fund and quit taking from it for other usage.
When SS 'runs out of money' will we still be giving money to Ukraine?
They need to do away with the fica wage cap, not lower benefits for people who already paid into the fund for their while working lives
Repay that which they have borrowed for years
They have no problem funding wars, roads, schools, solar programs, etc....but Social security is where we're going to draw the hard line. 😅
Why not withhold the same percentage from everyone no matter their income. We'd have a surplus. But, the wealthy are protected.
Agree
Social Security Fairness Act made it worst for people relying only on SS no government City or Federal pension to depend on
Scrap The Cap!!!
They will just cut benefits for wealthy people. Which basically is cutting benefits for the people who paid in the most over their careers. The government just penalizes you for being successful
WE PRINT OUR OWN MONEY!
I like that idea it wouldn't be hard to do
TRUMP'S GOT THIS
Then why are they still taking it out of our checks if we are not going to get it back.😮
Those that are paying now are paying current retirees. Would you suggest that they just stop the program and leave many seniors with no income?
It's always the people that have to give back they would never consider cutting back on the ss workers or reducing their benefits to help .
Tax wealth and put that money into paying back ss. The working class are the ones that have worked their butts off for the billionaires to get the money
I think when old people have nothing to lose you have no idea how dangerous they will become. I see a lot of prisons becoming geriatric centers.
I had a sister who worked her entire life starting at 13 in a restaurant until she got cancer and died at 54. Never got to receive any of her social security money. This is all I have to live on
Like half of Americans that’s all they have. Then nobody will vote for no party if both parties can not decide on anything
Social Security solvency is an easy fix. Raise the income ceiling from $180,000 or whatever it is now to $500k or one million. Make the wealthy pay their fair share. I don’t understand why this isn’t a brought up. It’s always about cutting benefits for those who need it most.
And in the meantime, it is still taken out of your paycheck....😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Please tell people that Trump is not planning to get rid of SS. I feel so bad for people who believe what the media tells them about this. It’s unfair to them and causes unwarranted anxiety. 😥
I do. I agree
change congress benefits to the same as the peoples. nah, that'll never happen.
If everyone paid into Social Security, even those earners who make more than $168,600.00, would that help? Maybe there should not be an income ceiling on who pays into it.
P.S. High earners are also more likely to have other sources of income and this could help those who only have Social Security to live on.
Maybe explain to everyone how the
money you suscribe for ssc never makes it to the fund. What gets into the ssc is an IOU.
Government needs to save SS and avoid cuts
As the government scale down its agencies, saving billions of dollars in the process, can we assume that re-allocation of the saving would include salvaging the Social Security sinking boat?
Does the government’s data say anything about their mismanagement of social security?
If the government makes changes to Social Security again, we should all opt out and put our money into individual retirement accounts, it would be worth way more than what you get from Social Security pay out when you’ve contribute to a private plan for 40+ years!

Do you think those of us 55+ will have reduced benefits?

They should borrow money from our fund
We pay into it.
They shouldn't have screwed with it in the first place...
This is scary very scary😢
How about the politicias keep their greedy hands off it? How bout congress takes a pay cut?
I think there’s no way lawmakers allow SS benefits to ever, ever get reduced. This would be suicidal to their careers, especially any party leadership, from both parties. Toxic subject.
There not gonna cut social security.
You will have such a uprise like nothing you’ve ever seen.
If they only payout to those who have contributed, there would be plenty of money
Easy to fix via tax changes.
Maybe they need to drastically lower the cost of living...
Yeah they forgot to tell us in school you know you need to put money in your own little private fun and not just rely on Social security. It’s a payroll tax
It should be 4 only people who pay in
SS barely covers anything. They need to increase benifits
You shouldn't say not yet it's not a thing to say yo people
Imo trump will just end it all without any thought!
What reference do you have for this information?
If someone retires say in 2 yrs….they won’t reduce it once it’s being collected right? You’re speaking to folks who will draw in the future?
Wait a minute..
Don't plan on it should also mean dont contribute to it
They can get rid of the 10 yr spouse support! . I hope so because my ex deserves nothing.
No it pays itself look ip
He's going to fix it slow down and chill out thanks for the last 4 years
I think this administration can fix SS....We will see what that looks like.
You’re a liar. You know how easily this can be fixed. Who are you shilling for?
What a pessimistic vlog.
Trump will handle this
Not to our advantage though.
You believe the government?
