Love your outhouse story! I lived in alaska long ago and was taking a shower outside in the open with a plant water can and a bush plane flew over! Low too as he landed in the bay in front of the cabin! Those bush pilots must have some great stories!

Crystal, don’t apologize for being nervous! You did an amazing job giving us a tour of your wonderful home! I really admire your frugality and hard work. The loft is my favorite part. I remember older houses having metal grates in the floor of the second story to let the heat rise, but maybe that’s not the best way anymore. The pandemic is difficult, so I am glad your mom is close by and you are using your time “off” to work on your home. Blessings to you, sweet girl! Can’t wait to see your finished bedroom!

I've lived off grid in Trapper Creek Alaska for 22 years now and I built a tiny cabin here. I ordered cheap solar panels from Harbor Freight and now I can get internet access. I pounded my shallow well 17 years ago and I pounded it down straight under my cabin instead of in the yard so I didn't have to worry about it freezing up. Insulating the skirting keeps it warm enough down there. Just 4 years ago I put my own septic tank system!!! It was easy and cheap. I learned how to do it by watching a UA-cam Channel!!!✌🏻❤😊

Just wondering if you have considered getting a small trailer and a several gallon water container? That way you could take it on your trailer down to fill up with water. Or catch water in it. I understand that the well is a long term option. But for faster large water storage you could get a container. Here in Tennessee where we live it’s not very expensive to get a little trailer and water container. I love your home! It’s very nice! We have a shed cabin. It’s dry. We do have water at the road. I had a line run but at the time I ran it toward out main gate. And now we need to waterline run in another direction. We will use it for our cabin and for an RV. In our cabin we have a tub that we purchased at habitat for humanity. Everything was thrifted in our cabin. And we take( new )two gallon chemical sprayer fill with water. I will heat up about a coffee pot of warm water. It’s a great shower. My husband and I find that we both can shower with one 2 gallon container. I need a little more if I was my hair. So that’s just another option for you to shower at home until you have a well dug. Or get a catchment system. You have done a fantastic job on your bedroom. It’s so roomy. I fell in love with tiny homes back in 2010. And I bought my land in 2015. It’s a work in progress. Currently we live in a town one hour from our property with our shed cabin, it’s because life happens. My father and my father in law got very sick. And we needed to be closer to the city for them. I also suffer with a rare form of arthritis. So I need to be closer to the city for doctors appointments. But one day my husband and I hope to stay for long periods of time at our homestead and make improvements on our cabin. Add an Rv. We are on a river. About a 3 to 4 minute drive from the boat dock. So with an Rv we would have a place for guest to stay over. I have a dream of adding a few cabins and doing weekend rentals and boat storage. Then we could just live there full time and truly live off our land. Not sure if we will ever do it. But doesn’t hurt to dream. Enjoy your beautiful home! Please keep us updated. Leslye

@Crystal Jones, have you found changing your diet helps at all? Corn sets me off anytime, but I eliminate grain except for rice during a flare. Take several things all the time, and cherries seem to help. I'm surprised you chose to live where it's so cold with joint pain, for myself it's better in warm weather. Makes what you have accomplished that much more impressive!

Great work and great ideas. From experience, my only suggestion is that you insulate that 2nd floor ceiling. Not just for efficiency but for sound. An uninsulated metal roof makes it sound like a hurricane every time it is sprinkling outside. But if that doesn't bother you, no worries!

Don't pay attention to people who
have nothing nice to say. I really don't understand why people can't be nice and kind. I think part of it is their not happy with their life so judging others makes them feel better. You have done a great job on your house with no help from the crowd out here. You are a very brave

@@jannettebirdsong-grace7319 I learned a long time ago that mean people are the most unhappy people that there are. They are so unhappy that they just want someone to be just like them so they won't be alone. It's so sad.
Sometimes you can be kind or positive to a mean person and they will change a little even if only for that moment that you are talking to them but every little bit helps.

her roof needs extra gabling and a veranda roof would be so handy, Id have the fire place done before anything else, And I would be pitting in the lining of the roof and closing off the gaps otherwise bugs spiders and the heat will escape out them.

There was a point in the video where it became a distraction that she couldn't seem to let go of her drink.
