When I was younger, I was replaying Secret of Evermore, and my mom, who also played the game, saw me, and asked me why I'd replay it! I said I loved the game, and I was going to make a fan club for it. She said fine, you can find the other two people in the world that thinks it deserves one!
I think it should be mandatory for anyone couching at an event that they have SOME knowledge of the glitches being performed in a run. I'm JUST starting to get into speedruns, and this is by far one of the best, I feel. The guy in the middle did an EXCELLENT job of explaining the little things that the runner is doing.
About blimp's name in the German version: It's "John David", likely poking fun at John David Kraft, who was part of the German translation team back in the days. That team was infamous for their "funny" translations... ;)
Thank you for doing this speed run. Omg its .. Minsooky is so right in saying its under-rated. One of the best SNES titles of all time right up there with Chrono Trigger. Thank you for doing this.
i've played this game so much as a kid. i didn't understand the game at all, mainly because i was 4, i've never beaten it before so just watching it was nice to see
If you follow the shapeshifters in the trees you're led in the right direction. if you go down a path and you don't see one, you've gone the wrong way.
nice to see an extremely outgoing nerd for once seems like Meta could have been a good commentator for himself too, dude clearly knows what's going on and isn't shy about saying it, but the guy next to him did a great job, he explained things pretty clearly and he came in at the right times to say what was going on anytime something extraordinary happened that plus the apparently rather high glitch potential in this game made this an unusually entertaining and interesting run
This game has a special nostalgic place in my heart. Never knew it was so broken. Fun fact: I played this game in the French version as a kid, so I didn't figure out what it was really about until I played the emulator years later.
you actually did secret, thanks a lot guys!!! there's no game i want to see more on here. you are awesome, i'm thinking about donating. keep up the good work.
Even when playing this in the 1990s on a SNES I knew this game was seriously broken. There were glitches preventing me from getting into the dirty castle. Then after I went back through the forest and maze, guards prevented me from backtracking into the clean castle! This game is bad news, but oh so enjoyable.
+Baccar Wozat I know what you mean, I posted about a glitch that gets you directly to ebon keep from Ivor tower because the coding for the two locations uses the same area where verminator is
You can get directly to Ebon keep from Ivor tower and skip the dark forest and court yard etc, just go to the area in Ivor Tower that matches the area in Ebon keep where you fight Verminator. The two towns use the same coding location and you can fight Verminator and pop out in Ebon keep.
This is exactly how AGDQ should be. A bounch of people who cares more about have fun rather then trying entirely on beat the world record. Have a record is offcourse the coure purpose of this, but see people have fun while doin it, realy makes it funnier to watch.
Brossentia: Andrea- Uh, there's a question mark in the middle of this last name. Metasigma: Probably a french name. Brossentia: Andreas French Name... BEST LINE EVER! XD
... at the start he scratched his butt with his fingers inside the boxer, then scratched his nose right after... im sorry but i think he forgot he was on camera lol
I just disliked your comment. Although apparently that doesn't seem to register anymore on UA-cam. They gotta stop hiring depressed, mentally ill, ADHD/Asperger, idiot savant guys as programmers or something.
+pineapplepissant This game gets a lot of shit because it is cool to hate on it, but I love it aswell. There is something about the atmosphere and the world.
+pineapplepissant I've posted on some gaming forums in the past about how much I like this game, and the standard response seems to be oh its a Secret of Mana copy. I've played through this game multiple times, and it has a unique charm that no other SNES game had IMO.
punkbassbone Anyone saying it's a secret of mana clone did nothing else but watch some youtube clips of it and see the ring menu and that it's an action rpg. That's where most of the similarities end though. that and the "secret" in the title. Bit of bad marketing decision from the square usa branch trying to hitch a ride the secret of mana popularity .
I've loved Terranigma for ages. I played it for hours upon hours as a kid. Never understood why the town in Australia was big on the map while flying/boating, but not while walking. Hahah, amazing game :)
That, and the fact someone says "weapons with the *staff* suffix have special properties!" I went around with some kind of EarthStaff half the game, not realizing it was just a translation error, hahaha.
the best speed run iv ever seen! was mine blowing watching one of my favorite games get totally raped. My worst memory was the dark forest! Took me like a whole week to get through it. I even tried maping it out with a sheet of paper and it didn't make sense. Overall is a beautiful game and i love it. definitely gunna try a speed run soon.
good game, though i did hate 2 parts. dark forrest forced me to draw a fucking map until i learned that these tree monster show you the way, and that spell spamming rat where i had to restart the game. didn't have enough spells or healing to spam level 2 speer long enough before dying -.-
Should be a no Attack defense glitch category . kinda lost interest once 1 hitting everything was in effect. Plus much more strats for certain bosses would be epic to see considering you'd have to use call up if you really needed the callbeads.
I discovered this glitch by myself back in the 90's, it's quite simple in fact :). Take control of the dog, then access the boy menu, select the spell you wanna use, and just after choosing the target, access the boy menu again and repeat, and voilà !
I LOVE this game and the speed run was very informative but I will say I'm surprised for record purposes that people are allowed to use glitches for these. I would be more interested to see what speed run times people could get without using glitches. I don't think the developers intended for people to use the glitches anyways and if they had the time and money to fix them I'm sure they would have.
I do believe that I may be a little late (an understatement, I know), but I think that most games do have a "glitchless" category, where absolutely no glitches are able to be used. One such game is Dishonored, with another being Ocarina of Time. If you already know about this, then just disregard this comment and have a lovely time :D
In one of the later runs or 2014, they have a developer skyping in, both for VVVVV and Borderlands 2. It was great, both devs were so amused, "omg why does that happen? how did that work? how do people discover this?" They're more amused than betrayed and actively supported the hilarity of glitch finding. If you don't like glitched runs, watch only the glitchless category, and certainly avoid TAS.

Metasigma shirtless, tight shorts, rainbowdash hoodie neck scarf, goofy posing, while playing nostalgic old game. You make nerds proud everywhere.
shorts aren't that tight.
secret of evermore is such an underrated game. thanks for doing this speed run! :D
Your profile pic is ugly
Oh god I LOVE this game. I am so happy you all have done this.
About blimp's name in the German version: It's "John David", likely poking fun at John David Kraft, who was part of the German translation team back in the days. That team was infamous for their "funny" translations... ;)
Still love this video so much.
this was my favorite donation reader, he was very considerate of the runner and viewers.
Thank you for doing this speed run. Omg its .. Minsooky is so right in saying its under-rated. One of the best SNES titles of all time right up there with Chrono Trigger. Thank you for doing this.

There are some ... eccentric speed runners out there.
nice to see an extremely outgoing nerd for once

8:53 Dude, nice scratch n' sniff. He knew he was on camera, right?
as a child I never realized how dark this game is

This game has a special nostalgic place in my heart. Never knew it was so broken. Fun fact: I played this game in the French version as a kid, so I didn't figure out what it was really about until I played the emulator years later.
+Kleavers hahaha awesome dude! i played Zelda in french took me 1 year to figure out what i had to do xD
WhyAlwaysTheFighting Games used to last a lot longer back then :D I was just walking around aimlessly for months.
Kleavers hahaha they sure did :D yeah i could imagine. Must have been hell to figure out what to do since there is so much text in evermore :)
WhyAlwaysTheFighting Learned a bit of French from it though. Which is of course useless ^_^
Kleavers impressive :D i didn't learn a word other than Le boots which i think must have meant The boots xD
you actually did secret, thanks a lot guys!!! there's no game i want to see more on here. you are awesome, i'm thinking about donating. keep up the good work.

Just finished this game for the first time tonight. Took me like 30 hours to beat XD. AGDQ is amazing.
Meta is a boss. His energy level blew my mind.
Well I fuck bosses in the ass, so.....
som and soevermore are so good. som gives you this heroic feeling, whilst evermore a really dark feeling for a snes game.
Best game of my childhood.
You can get directly to Ebon keep from Ivor tower and skip the dark forest and court yard etc, just go to the area in Ivor Tower that matches the area in Ebon keep where you fight Verminator. The two towns use the same coding location and you can fight Verminator and pop out in Ebon keep.
Didn't know Dennis from It's Always Sunny played Secret of Evermore. One of my favorite SNES games.
This would get banned on 2015 Twitch.
This is exactly how AGDQ should be.
A bounch of people who cares more about have fun rather then trying entirely on beat the world record. Have a record is offcourse the coure purpose of this, but see people have fun while doin it, realy makes it funnier to watch.

BEST LINE EVER! XD
Tears, Deaths, Evermore AND flexing. My most favorite speedrun ever!
Why would you like looking at guys flexing? Are you gay?
Finished the Game like 100 times, Great Run and Commentary mates! agdq are the Best ;) i wish i could skip and glitch like that guy really impressiv
great underrated game, great run
How do you know a real nerdy Nintendo player?
-He or she drinks NEScafé with 8 bits of sugar!
Good one xD
Didn't need the "she", should have just said he.
Don't forget the FF6 characters that were in the Colosseum fight as well as the FF4 Cecil appearance in the shop. Nice little references.
secret of evermore was my favorite SNES game
Love agdq.... but this runner reminds me of a child
feels like im watching an episode of the office
They found him next to a dumpster outside with a secret of evemore in his hand.. One hell of a guy
many critics here in germany say that soe sucks , but i played it as a kid and loved it .
... at the start he scratched his butt with his fingers inside the boxer, then scratched his nose right after... im sorry but i think he forgot he was on camera lol
dammit dan
8:58 :)
dammit dan
8:58 :)
I'm sorry * rolls eyes * but I don't think he did.
I got kicked from the irc chat in this, for suggesting the runner to lay off the coke.
I commend you for that. Keep up that good work and don't let the bastards get you down.
This is the silliest run.
I love it. xD
I'm so glad mlp fandom has died off. You don't see them as much as you did back in 2011-2013 and thank fucking god.
I love this runner, hes so on all the time
Why do people dislike these types of videos... what benefit do they get from it -_- great vid!!
Maybe they find it boring to watch?
I just disliked your comment. Although apparently that doesn't seem to register anymore on UA-cam. They gotta stop hiring depressed, mentally ill, ADHD/Asperger, idiot savant guys as programmers or something.
love this game... did anyone actually watch all this
+pineapplepissant This game gets a lot of shit because it is cool to hate on it, but I love it aswell. There is something about the atmosphere and the world.
I totally agree! I visit Evermore once every few years
+pineapplepissant I've posted on some gaming forums in the past about how much I like this game, and the standard response seems to be oh its a Secret of Mana copy. I've played through this game multiple times, and it has a unique charm that no other SNES game had IMO.

I've watched this whole video a few times throughout the years. Great game, incredibly fun run.
Great Action-RPG! It doesn't have the high gameplay quality of Seiken Densetsu 2 but it's still a ture milestone.
Back before Twitch had Jew ToS
Awesome run!
He mentioned Terranigma -> instant follow.
Terranigma was the first game I ever played. I learnt half of my English from that game, hahah.
Best RPG ever IMO :)
Your first game? Oh, then you're a native Terranigma fan. :D
And yeah, it's stil my favorite game of all time, and probably always will be.
I've loved Terranigma for ages. I played it for hours upon hours as a kid. Never understood why the town in Australia was big on the map while flying/boating, but not while walking. Hahah, amazing game :)
Haha, right! That was one of the few little glitches in the game. ^^
That, and the fact someone says "weapons with the *staff* suffix have special properties!"
I went around with some kind of EarthStaff half the game, not realizing it was just a translation error, hahaha.
48:00 Um, Da FuQ?!?! I've owned this game for nearly 20 years and I didn't know about that easter egg at all. At. All.
Me either... O_o
Joelsuf 2end easter egg is at 55:00 you can see final fantasy charaktere in the background ^^
There's an unusual amount of pony paraphernalia in this video. :T
his ADHD is more impressive than the run
Terranigma pls !!!!
what a freaky guy :-) nice run.
Was everyone high during this run!? XDDDDDDD
the best speed run iv ever seen! was mine blowing watching one of my favorite games get totally raped. My worst memory was the dark forest! Took me like a whole week to get through it. lol. My Brother draw a map too and I used it when i played the game myself :).
This game is so cool.
A shirtless gamer . . . nice
Metasigma really needs to lay off the cocaine.
You look like a buff Dennis Reynolds. Awesome run dude.
Lol @ "eebon keep" and "eever tower" ...they're just missing the Y's, c'mon xD
You're not really that happy, i'll bet you're really depressed actually.
Can someone help me? I've been trying to figure out where the item menu is. I cannott find it.
what was the SNK mystery game Duckfist was playing later?
They got a Brony in the group!
:)
I skipped a bit, to a part that gamer scratching his ass an after that smelling his fingers. Keep it classy.
Reimu doll is watching you speed o.o
Reimu doll is always watching. o.o
I feel as though this marathon may have spawned a few creepypasta because of that plushie~ xD
1:28:45 Donation to Kabutroid of Planet Zebeth, dude that's like a 10+ year old Metroid Comic! Kabs is a HUUUUUGE SoE fan!
More people should be in that room watching!
Well...there can only be so many lamers and losers out there, so, yah know.
FLEX!
No, just no.
most entertaining run!
Speed run of Tomba! :)
For some reason this video just decided to stop working in chrome for me. It's really weird.
Should be a no Attack defense glitch category . kinda lost interest once 1 hitting everything was in effect. Plus much more strats for certain bosses would be epic to see considering you'd have to use call up if you really needed the callbeads.
Can someone run Illusion of Gaia ?
Its been done in an older SGDQ.
All that spaghetti.
How in the heck can you multi cast spells... That first boss kill blew my mind.
I discovered this glitch by myself back in the 90's, it's quite simple in fact :).
Take control of the dog, then access the boy menu, select the spell you wanna use, and just after choosing the target, access the boy menu again and repeat, and voilà !
Why can't I reply to comments?
Aw crap...I forgot they read my donation out loud. ( ._.);
Hah.
One of my friends sent one while drunk and they read it during Twilight Princess.
I showed him the run and he made that exact face xD
dude i killed that reptile Rock at my first gameplay with the speer wtf... lol
John Master Your stats would have been higher. You don’t have time to level up in this speed run.
how to go through the woods so quick? how you know the right way? i thought it's random
+yahlov Follow the owl....
Anyone else watching in 2019? :)
Meta yes

8:57 : Scrambled egg? :D
Was that FFV in the beginning?
who is doing donation commentary on this video? he is excellent.
Brossentia, i believe
Brossentia confirmed: broken
One of my all time favorite games and it's getting destroyed by this shirtless wonder.
Duckfist 4ever.
Oh yes, I most definitely feel stronger now.
bijou actualy means jewel ^^
32:10 nice

That's Final Fantasy V
Hix108
ah thank you good sir/madam.
Did they do a roll call for the couch? Who is the other commentator?
Okay Meta uses his name, Duckfist! Great name.
zeratulcraft think that is Brossensia
6Rocker66 I admire you helping me out after all this time, but Duckfist was the fella I was meaning. Thanks though :)
"Twilight is Best Princess."
'TIS A LIE!
I cracked up so much on that one line alone
No, Epona is a goddamn goddess (Actually an ancient goddess of fertility) not just some puny princess!
I LOVE this game and the speed run was very informative but I will say I'm surprised for record purposes that people are allowed to use glitches for these. @ 1:05:59 lol great flex by the guy in the back. Forgot to clench his fists.
Flexing is for gays and women, get with it. I guess you didn't know that 3 years ago tho, so maybe you can be forgiven.
fuck sake how i beat fucking Second Boss with this Spell glitch?
