The display cable frustarted me to no end, I kept thinking I had the lever up all the way and would slide the ribbon in, lever down, go to adhere the adhesive to hte case and it'd slide out. Sure wish I'd had the microscope I do now when I put mine together, would have saved me almost a dozen attempts.
Brilliant timing. A friend of mine, only last week, recommended an Analogue Pocket to me. This seems like a good compromise cost-wise. Plus a new project to build!
cant go wrong with the price.i bought mine direct from funnyplaying and everything i neededccame to £65 delivered.i went old school with atonic purplewith black button.not had any issues with mine so far and im itchubg to start a new zelda game on mine now i have finished links awakening dx
Same, it's tempting because of the nostalgic aesthetic but I keep waffling back and forth between this and a retro handheld. The retro handhelds can do so much more, but they lack the cool factor of this thing.
Got mine, built it no problem and it works great after the FW updates. Mine was a v1.11 motherboard. FYI - Official Everdrive X5 (on latest FW) works perfectly, as does the cheap "Gameflash GB PRO+" Aliexpress Everdrive knockoff. My EZ Flash Jr wouldn't read its SD card in the FPGBC though, so if you need a flash cart, get one of the first ones, I can vouch for both.
Are the user adjusted GBC color modes for original Gameboy games just not available? The FPGBC lets you input the color modes (up, down, left, right + combinations with B or A) but it won't load the game. You just get a corrupted FP GBC logo and Gameboy "ding" constantly coming on and off. Anyone else get it working?
Mine arrived with a broken panel after waiting about a month and a half for all the parts to arrive.. just lines on the panel and solid colour across the screen very frustrating. All gone in the bin now.
Game boy color is too small for me, I wonder if they'll do a bigger size version. DMG has always been a perfect size for me, but think I'd like something different, like a analog pocket, but none of those weird extra buttons that aren't suitable for gameboy.

I wanted to pick one of these up and now I'm convinced! Thanks for the video!

I keep nearly buying one of these.. but then closing the tab. I don't need another Game Boy.. but look at it, and it's FPGA!

idk what it is but for me I've literally never owned a single GBC game, let alone the system itself. Always just been original GB and GBA for me.
If you own any GB games that are a black cartridge like Tetrix DX, they're actually GBC games that are backwards compatible.
Yeah I have the OG bennvenn Gameboy colour screen mod as well fantastic screen in its day I just waiting on my fpgbc
You need to shake the darn thing harder - I still managed to read the menu text!
ORdered one myself - it was significantly cheaper direct from funnyplaying than from your linked UK (really US?) supplier!

Fantastic video, I'd love to know if you ever found a screen protector for the unit it self I've been searching still to no avail.
