I thought it was because Scorpions are usually really blind/have bad eyesight and rely on sound. Metal tends to "shriek" or ring when moving while humans are fleshy and don't make much sound. It took Qrow picking up his weapon for Tyrian to run in for an attack. There was also a sound that popped up at that moment and Tyrian turned his ear towards it.
my idea on his back story is sort of the same. he was born in a circus, and was treated horribly. Then Salem came and bought him as a child and raised him to be this way. cause as much as loves doing this it seems like that only cause it pleases Salem who he sees as a mother. He's basically a sad child who only wants to make his mommy Happy.

I seriously hope they finally address the scene with Tyrian and Jaune. He’s a serial killer, what does he find interesting in Jaune specifically. Either something about the Arcs or because they’re exact opposites to each other in terms of aura and semblances.
Tyrian is a scorpion faunus. Scorpions, like most arthropods have several sets of eyes, but those eyes are not effective at identifying sharp images. Scorpions are actually more sensitive to light than most eyes in the animal kingdom, allowing them to see in almost complete darkness. But, that really identifies for them a vague sense of something moving somewhere. There's not really any depth or sharpness to it. However, also like many arthropods, they DO possess nerves in their exoskeleton and antennae far more sensitive to vibrations in the air and on the ground. This is what makes them such effective hunters. So, Tyrian has awful eyesight. But, he makes up for this by hearing and sensing them when they make rapid motion. When he wants to actually get a good look at Juane, he gets right in his face. This is also probably why he started the fight immediately, THEN asked Ruby to come with him. Yes, he also obviously just likes fighting, but also needed to actually identify them. He was likely given intel on them so he knew their weapons. He just had to actually touch their weapons to figure out who was who. Going back to Juane, this probably indicates that he recognized Juane's weapon. Someone with this sort of sensitivity would probably recognize touch in the same way that a person recognizes a face. He felt the shield then briefly wondered if he was fighting someone he had fought before so he had to get a better look at Juane's face. Juane DID say that the weapon has been passed down in his family.
Tyrian breaks oras but Sean has an ubove average amount of ora. Tyrian is could be interested because he wants to see how his semblances works on Sean.
Thanks so much for the shout out! I'm really glad you liked my video! 😊 I love the ideas you presented in this video and I'm glad to see a lot of them we agree on! I definitely see Jaune and Tyrian being set up as the ultimate shield vs the ultimate spear where Jaune's aura is so vast, once trained, it will be extremely difficult to get through and Tyrian being able to pierce almost any aura. I look forward to seeing more theories and how the rest of the Volume plays out!
i know scorpions can kill themselves by going crazy (just pour a dash of alcohol on them and boom they get confused and attack themselves) my theory, Tyrian will take himself out by accident thanks to Qrows bad luck semblance or with that one guys extremely good luck semblance (cant remember his name atm) either way Tyrians insanity will be his own downfall.
The circus theory also makes sense given how extra Tyrian is. His words and actions are usually pretty hammy, and he's usually dramatic. He rarely breaks this facade, almost as if he's trying to stay in character. Perhaps his dramatic behavior is from performing in the circus, and he subconsciously kept the act, even when though he's long abandoned that lifestyle, Old habits are hard to break after all. Also in volume 4, when he returns to Salem after failing his mission, his act is completely thrown out the window. He's whimpering, and he gets on his knees and begs for forgiveness. This might have brought up memories of disappointing his ringmaster, where he'd be punished horribly. Such as wounding him so badly to have left those scars on his chest, or that could be performance whippings, or maybe the punishment was psychological, either way, the punishments must have been horrifying when just the thought of Salem doing that to him and/or the memories of them leave Tyrian to a sobbing mess. Perhaps Tyrian is so scared of disappointing Salem is that not just he's emotionally dependent on her (Although that's a major factor) is that whenever he disappointed his ringmaster, punishment ensues. The punishments must have also been really horrible to go through, since all it took for him to have an emotional breakdown was for Salem to say "You disappoint me." Those three words must have brought back some awful memories from the circus.
Bit late to be saying this, but there's another aspect to consider. Tyrian worships Salem, so if he was abused by some kind of authority figure growing up, he probably formed an extreme attachment to her. Obviously he'd internalize failure under an abusive authority figure as negative because of having pain inflicted on him, but to disappoint the woman who showed him some kindness in the past and took him in? For Tyrian, that must be horrific, because he's obviously not afraid of being hurt; he's afraid of letting Salem down, of her ignoring him and viewing him as worthless, and the thing he's probably most afraid of is her abandoning him. By that train of logic, Tyrian may have been abandoned by his mother or lost her at an early age, and has since latched on to Salem as the source of motherly affection he lost out on in his youth, and so he does everything he can to please her because he defines his life by her affection and praise, and the absence of that upsets him severely because pleasing her is his sole reason for living; everything else is just him lashing out at the world as part of some fleeting emotional outburst or beastial indulgence. In short? I think Tyrian is a mama's boy.
I actually saw a neat theory about Tyran being some what blind. It went as fallows Real world scorpions have very poor sight, but very good hearing, and are very sensitive to vibrations. Since we know that along with visible fauns traits (like Blake’s ears) they also get special stuff as well (her ability to see in the dark, and probably balance) So the theory says that In the fight with Qrow, tyran could hear and feel the vibrations of the metal as it swings through the air (real world scorpions can do the same), that’s why when Qrow looses his weapon, tyran is defenseless, he can’t hear the metal swing, and that’s also why he didn’t attack Qrow till he touched is sword. I’m sure I’m missing some things from the original, but it’s still a really cool idea.
I always had the theory Tyrian was possibly bullied, abused or just plain out neglected at a young age. So he never got the lessons of empathy and love from others. So instead he harms others and feels joy in it. Also, when Salem tells him she was disappointed in him he freaks out, screaming, crying and lashing out. This is the trait of someone who desperately looks for approval and when he doesn't get it he loses his mind. and this could be due to how he never had anyone approval till he met Salem. Salem was able to mould his fragile and unstable mind to her beliefs and will. At least this was my theory. I am not fully sure. I also found that his semblance works very well since his tail slashes and injects venom. His semblance allows him to allow his tail to strike. The theory that his semblance marks his aura out into his hand leaving him vulnerable would be a great weakness to such a powerful semblance.
It's pretty obvious that Tyrian portrays the tale The Frog and Scorpion. But he also symbolises the flying monkeys that take Dorothy away in the Wizard of Oz.
I think Tyrian's "interest" in Jaune may have something to do with the fact that the insignia on Jaune's shield bears a pretty striking resemblance to the one we've seen attributed to Salem in The Lost Fable chapter of volume 6. And also the ring Salem wears currently has a similar crest on it. So, it could stand to reason that this crest may also be elsewhere around Salem's fortress and if Tyrian has been basically living there for years, it would also make sense that he'd recognize that symbol. And while Jaune's shield crest isn't exactly the same as Salem's, to deny there is a similarity is disingenuous at best, denial at worst. And we know from our own human history that all things evolve and change over time; religions, national borders, laws, technology and, yes, especially symbols and their meanings. My only issue is this: Didn't Salem and Ozma's four daughters all die? I suppose we didn't see the bodies, but their deaths were heavily implied with the bloody teddy bear doll on the ground. And I think we can discount the theorem of "no body, no death" in this case as I just think CRWBY didn't want to show dead children onscreen. So, let's presume those four girls died. How would Jaune's family line be tied to Salem and Ozma? Well, my theory is, it doesn't (at least, not by blood). We still don't know the exact story of how the four Maidens actually came into existence. Perhaps Salem and Ozma's daughters not only inherited their magic abilities, but also Ozma's ability to reincarnate? Or perhaps the truth is closer to the fairy tale we've heard before. Here's what I believe happened, and I think it makes sense with the story of Oz as we've seen it. I think the fairy tale we heard narrated by Ozpin himself in the World of Remnant is actually very close to the truth in this case. Jinn told us that after Oz lost to Salem the first time, he fell into a depression where he spent many lives just trying to forget. This fits in line with the fairy tale that the old wizard was a hermit, living far from humanity and the rest of the world. Oz at the time was bitter and pitiful, shut off from the world. Then four sisters happened upon his old cabin and, just as the fairy tell says, they helped him see the beauty of the world again by helping him fix up his dilapidated old cottage and planting crops for him and basically helping to restore his faith in everything again. What's not mentioned in the fairy tale, however, is probably how much these four sisters reminded him of his deceased daughters from years ago. Perhaps that's why Oz gave the magical abilities to the Maidens; to try and recreate the daughters he'd lost. And he made the power able to transfer so that he would always have some semblance of them in the world. At any rate, I think that Jaune's family may descend from one of the original Maidens and that, for whatever reason, Oz had some influence in what eventually became their family crest. Perhaps it was even Oz, or a later reincarnation of himself, who married a Maiden and started that family line. It also ties in well to explain why Ozpin ever even let Jaune into Beacon Academy when I think we all know Oz would have easily been able to tell Jaune's transcripts were fakes and that he wouldn't normally have been accepted.
i think Jaune's semblance can boost his troops in times of dire need. basically a hail mary with terminal effects. can only be used once at the expense of its owner.
We NEED a Tyrian backstory before his next showdown with Qrow. It’d build up so much weight before the fight and would be a fantastic addition to the series (and likely would be my favorite episode).
Given the behavior of both Qrow and Clover at the end of Volume 7, I'm tempted to believe Tyrian has a semblance that causes stupidity in other people.
4:42 in the original version of the fable its a turtle or tortoise who is a close friend of the Scorpion and doesn't die because of his hard shell, and when confronts the Scorpion the response is the same, however the tortoise praises the scorpion for his honesty and the moral is 'blessed are those who don't hide their nature even if it isn't always positive"
I think Tyrian is interested in Jaune's semblance and how it could support his own. For Tyrian to slash aura he first must focus all his aura into one place leaving him vulnerable to attacks. But if Jaune's semblance would provide a defense to Tyrian while he is attacking.
That reasoning sounds plausible though Jaune would have to be coerced or tricked to assist Tryian for it to work. Salem probably knows some magic that could manipulate Jaune but ,personally, that sounds too convenient.
Tyrian is Joker confirmed! No but in all seriousness this is a good theory and falls right in line with my thoughts of how Tyrion reminds me so much of Joker: The carnival music, the possibility that he might've been a clown in the past, and most importantly the undeniable fact that he is INSANE! The faunus cruelty in his backstory would really help the subplot of the faunus descrimenation which I feel has been lacking a lot in the show. And I feel it would really hit home if the society that Tyrion was brought up in had many humans who hated what was happening to the faunus but didn't do anything about it. Either because they were too afraid to stand up against the ruling power(which maybe anti faunus) that be, or because they just don't see the faunus as actual people like themselves. And in turn aren't willing to put enough of an effort to stop the cruelty; Utimately abandoning Tyrian. "What do you get when cross a mentally ill loner with a society that abandons him and treats him like trash? YOU GET WHAT YOU F*** DESERVE!" -Joker(Tyrion most likely won't say it, but I would love it if he did!) 😁😁😁
I think he was left an orphan as a child after his parents deaths, and found a cult of Salem. Salem may still be seen as a goddess to some tribes in Vacuo where he was most likely from. i hope they go into detail about the fanus when we get to Vacuo, but judging on how crazy volume 7 ended we wont till at the soonest volume 9
Fun video, I never noticed the circus themes to his music so I quite like the idea! I'm more ambivalent on the Arcs as the only one who mentions their history is Jaune, so I think they were most likely just soldiers & Hunters he looked up to over exceptional. I always liked the idea that Tyrian was basically raised as an assassin by someone who thought they could control him, only to find out how terribly wrong they were.
I think Tyrian is gonna kill Ren and die by doing it. Ren is having huge deathflags this season and his motive of lillypad flowers = frog, just like the tale of the scorpion that killed the frog but drowned in the process.
Great vid! On the Semblance, it definitely breaks through Aura... but he never used it against RNJR/Qrow, so I'm pretty sure his Semblance fits into his assassin position within Salam's group. Perhaps his Semblance can shatter another's Aura as long as he is hidden? For the backstory, some kind of circus would make sense. Although he obviously doesn't care if the person he is killing is human or faunus so I doubt he has a specific grudge against humanity. For what lies ahead? It's hard to say... do we have any characters in the story who allude to any kind of frogs? If so that might be an obvious choice. Otherwise, it's likely his death will, like Pyrrha's, be based on the death from the tale. Tyrion will kill the person/thing that is helping him, leading to his death.
True,Tyrian's semblance is quite lethal and so is Adam's of the current semblances we've seen. If we categorize a semblance as "dangerous" on just lethality, only a semblance that can seal away a person's aura would top Tyrian's or Adam's. Personally I find Yatsuhashi's semblance quite dangerous too as he's seen the consequences of careless use.
Tyrian was born in Vacuo, an stowaway and a slave to Atlas. As time flies, he discovers his special powers that led his new skills as a weapon in order to escape. Until Clover found him and adopt him at the age of 10. Clover raise and train Tyrian into a spec ops. His rage in humanity in general was still in his grasp of feelings. Then he finally discovers... her. When the time was right, Salam found Tyrian in a forest meditating. Salam manipulate and told her story and history of Remnant that made him curious. Secretly training with Salam some unique tricks. Convinced, he promise to prove himself to her and submit to her as a goddess. So he ran away from Atlas to learn, honed, and train his skills to the test at the age of 13. And then went on a killing spree and more training. Eventually he was caught, escape from the law by Grim, and the met Salam and kept learning and training his best of his ability to her supreme goddess his worth. He learned acrobatics, martial arts, athletics, and hand-to-hand combat. While influences to Vigilante, Assassins, Theft, and Circus clowns movement. His life-long years served Salam as a Killer, targeting Maiden’s, hunting silver-eye warriors, and cause chaos in general for the rest of his life. Soon Tyrian’s goal of vengeance and pleasure will come only through Salam and her plans for a new era. In the process of becoming powerful. And then spoilers to the rest of Volume 7 as such. Ur welcum mi bro...
I saw a video to where Tyrian has bad eye sight because he is a scorpion fanuas. Arachnids are known to have horrible eye sight. It could be just apart of him being a fanuas. Like with Blake having better hearing and all with her cat ears. It also does explain how he can dodge weapons that make noise so easily but can hardly dodge punches. Along with this Clovers fishing rod was very quiet unless he reeled it back.
the scene where Qrow can actually land hits on Tyrian while he was able to dodge and counter most of his attacks allude to the fact that he is a scorpion faunus and that scorpions mainly rely on and sound and touch. This also explains why Tyrian didn't attack Qrow after being punched several times by him until Qrow attempted to retrieve his weapon which Tyrian heard the sounds of Qrow attempting to free his weapon.
Maybe Tyrian was interested in Jaune cause of Pyhraa who was killed by cinder who works for salem who works with Tyrian and he noticed Pyhraas like head thing on his armor idk
Idk if a backstory for Tyrian would be necessary. I guess it would be cool, if done right. I kinda like the simplicity of his character. Like his motives are that he enjoys killing, and that he wants to serve Salem; because he views her as a god. The mystery behind how he became this person kinda adds more to him, but I wouldn't exactly complain if they give him a backstory. Just needs to be done right.
I don't know that there's been anything given that implies that aura or Jaune's semblance can cure poison. I also don't know if Tyrian can still poison with his original venom vesicle and stinger cut off, but since the new gear Watts gave him is the same size and shape as the old parts, I think it likely that Tyrian is even more poisonous than before. This makes me very very afraid for Nora the next time Nora and Tyrian fight (Thor died from a fight with a great poisonous snake). For this reason I'm also afraid to see Jaune fight Cinder again (Joan of Arc burned to death) though looking forward to seeing Pyrrha again when she comes back to comfort Jaune as he is burning (spirits talked to Joan of Arc). I am also afraid to see how Ren kills himself (like Mulan did) after all this happens. After hearing what you said about the scorpian and the frog, I am now even more afraid for Nora given that Thor also killed the snake that killed him. I think Nora will definitely be Tyrian's frog.
Tyrian breaks oras but Sean has an ubove average amount of Ora, Tyrian is probably interested because he wants to see how his semblances works on Sean.
Ok, this is gonna get really dark but I think it should be addressed. In the report, it says that Tyrian murdered, assulted, and kidnapped people. The assulted part scares me as it makes me question, "What kind of assult?" It's obvious that he gets a "turn on" from hurting himself, like caressing his cheek against Emerald's blade and dislocating his thumb. Tyrian must have done sadistic acts and sexual assults on his victims. This makes me worry about what would have happened if he succeeded in capturing Ruby. I don't think RT would go in that area, but they put in that report which gives a good reason to fear this man.

OH MY LORD WE STAN THIS BOI
YOU GET WHAT YOU F*** DESERVE!"
-Joker(Tyrion most likely won't say it, but I would love it if he did!) 😁😁😁
I think he was left an orphan as a child after his parents deaths, and found a cult of Salem. Salem may still be seen as a goddess to some tribes in Vacuo where he was most likely from. i hope they go into detail about the fanus when we get to Vacuo, but judging on how crazy volume 7 ended we wont till at the soonest volume 9
redClover 83 same!
Tyrian at vytal festival:
Tyrian:*Lands one punch*
Also Tyrian:*Wins instantly*
Illuminati confirmed
Tyrian is:
One punch man
I think Tyrian is gonna kill Ren and die by doing it. Ren is having huge deathflags this season and his motive of lillypad flowers = frog, just like the tale of the scorpion that killed the frog but drowned in the process.
Disturbingly possible...
And ya know red heads can't be happy
So he’s semblance is Aura Breaking? Probably 2nd dangerous semblance besides Adam’s...
Isoya Yasuji nah 1st. Adams a dead boi 😂
Julio Catalan completely forgotten about him! Thanks for reminding me xD
@@IsoyaYasuji You're welcome.
HIS SEMBLANCE IS BEING CRAZY!!!...and maybe he can steel aura like he uses his aura to take away aura and then gets aura back
Ah a RWBY video. How refreshing.
I miss being a patron for you guys, it just wasn’t in the budget anymore :(
the scene where Qrow can actually land hits on Tyrian while he was able to dodge and counter most of his attacks allude to the fact that he is a scorpion faunus and that scorpions mainly rely on and sound and touch. This also explains why Tyrian didn't attack Qrow after being punched several times by him until Qrow attempted to retrieve his weapon which Tyrian heard the sounds of Qrow attempting to free his weapon.
My original thought was that he was a employee from the SDC.
I love how they explain the story of the frog and the scorpion, but the animal is a turtle
Great video
If RWBY had a crossover with Persona 5
Lol that would be amazing
Right? Characters getting their own palace/persona can do wonders to flesh out their characters.
So this is Nightcrawler, but in RWBY
He's my favorite
jaune's new ability-glider redeploy
If this is true about his backstop and we ever get a flashback (most likely not) I wanna see character based off of Dumbo
Qrow also has badluck, I figure that's why
I don’t know how true this is but Tyrian has terrible eye sight so he has to rely more on his ears
me: *calmly watches the video * yeah, it's really interesting. I like your content already
me: * gets to 8:02 * *WHY?! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?! WAS IT OBLIGATED?!*
i mean i get why tyrsin is with salem i mean she wants asasins and with his semblace he is a perfect assasin
that's a turtle
Ha remember when we thought 2 weeks what's long
Wonder if his story is the scorpion and the frog
I love the piano version of the volume 7 opening. I can't find it anywhere, can somebody send me the link.
Jaune has a better chance against Tyrian in a rematch than someone like cinder in Volume 5
Ya know I used to find Tyrian horribly creepy and I did it like him, but know I’m like hey! This Tyrian dude is pretty intriguing
aint' his motif a classical opera?
Which one?
If Tyrian dies I'll stop watching. Unless Roman or Arthur are apparently alive by some plot twist
It’s gonna suck when he dies, he’s funny
