This is fabulous but completely shows the issue with TikTok…
- portrait rather than landscape
- only snippets of the songs rather than the whole thing
- at 41, I’m at least 25 years too old to have a TikTok account!
Uh, ppl really still think it's a kids app? I'm 37 and I've had TikTok for 2 years. The only people I follow are 25+ but many are much older than me even. If I run into anyone under 18, I block them. They're annoying. Kids just never come up on my FYP.
@@raynemichelle2996 It's not so much that we think it's for kids. But surely you've noticed that, at our age, most people don't readily jump into all the new things. We've already got plenty going on, and unless we're friends with people significantly younger than us, there's much less pressure/reason to adopt new platforms.
I'm not personally convinced it's going to stick around long-term, and for some reason that makes me less interested in it. That might just be me.
@@knitterknerd It's been here for 4 years and just gets more and more popular. The comment section is completely unfiltered though, so it's even worse than UA-cam. Everyone has every kind of opinion and they WILL share it, especially if it's none of their business or completely based off mistaken assumptions. Other than that, the algorithm typically puts you onto ppl and videos that you're about which kind of makes it a bit of an echo chamber, unlike UA-cam (I get recommendations on UA-cam that are deeply offensive to me all the time, lol).
@@raynemichelle2996 The reason I worry about longevity is the complaints I hear about monetization. Not to say that UA-cam is half as stable as it should be, from what I hear, but they apparently do revenue sharing better than anywhere else.
The format is also very different from what I usually watch. That doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy it just as much, but most of what I watch on YT is longer-form gaming videos, so there's less pull for me to check it out.
Nothing against TikTok. I might love it if I bothered to try it. My real point was just that past our 20's, many of us feel less reason or interest to hop on to things like this.
@@knitterknerd Yeah Canadians aren't even in the creator fund for some reason. Canadian TikTok'rs need sponsorships to make any money.
