Very good instructional video. TY! I used some of these ideas to create a rectangular fire pit cover. Btw, I always find it much easier to lay the cording inside the hem before sewing.
I always lie the shock cord in as I sew up the hem. Also I only take the vertical joins at the corners to within the seam allowance, this allows you to fold back the seam as you go around.
As always a great tutorial. Looking forward to making my own outside garden table cover also. I’ve a list of outdoor projects to do, and reference to your tutorials will get them done. Thank you.
Please make a tutorial on re-doing vinyl hot tub covers, as in the actual lid. These all end up weathered and disposed of as some point. It seems to be a very do-able project for Sailrite enthusiast.
love the video. My table is thicker than the one you are working on, could you help me with the dimensions for the boxing? My table is 2.5 inch thick, how much do I increase my boxing width? thanks.
Hi Velmay, Top Notch 9 is a highly abrasion resistant material and won't abrade easily, but you could sew a reinforcement patch in the corners if desired.

Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, laying the cording in the hem before sewing would have been easier.
I was thinking the same thing as well as buying 100% of the perimeter length and then cut off ~10% once I am done.
I love the new look of your video intro
Thank you so much. Your tutorials are very helpful.
I maded my one bootcover with your explanevideo! Thank you!

Great suggestion! Thanks!!!!!

Great job. Thanks Eric. I've learnt a lot from your videos. Aussie sewer.
Good job!

l also use hog clips. l could not buy stainless steel ones here in New Zealand so a friend bought me some when he went to U.S!
Nice job
I need something like this but for my cambro buffet.
That's a great idea! Cambro buffets can be so handy.

You could’ve tied the cord in a safety pin 🧷 and pushed the pin around until it reaches the other end than doing the pulling and tugging.
That's a clever idea! Using a safety pin could definitely make the process smoother. Thanks for sharing your insight!
Pro tip: duct tape one end of your shock cord to a popsicle stick and feed it through. No helpers required :-)
If I cannot get the 3/16 size cord, which other size(s) would you recommend?
1/8 inch will also work.
Thank you.
Does the corner of table rub a hole in cover? Is there a way to reinforce it?

How do you start sewing without holding thread ends?
You should hold the ends, or you can get a bird's nest of thread when starting to sew. We should have!
@SailriteDIY that's my thought, but i see people doing all the time. I'm just wondering if there's a trick to it.
Threads?
Should have used a sheet bend knot
Great. But you don’t show how to sew the two ends of your material with the cord together.
Hi Micky,
There is no reason to leave the sleeve open anymore, so it is sewn shut in the same manner as the other end is at 38:18.
You talk to much let make it
