Alfie will have two 14xx's to play with, as will you. I like that idea. The part on top of the cab roof is called a ventilation door. If you look on Lizzie's cab roof, you will see she has the exact same thing. Jimmy the Jinty has one on his roof. On a hot day, the Driver pulls the ventilation door, which has a hand-pole on its underside, open to let fresh air in to cool down. Many real steamies have a ventilation door on their roofs. On one particular Llangollen Railway occasion, if I remember right, 5199 the Large Prairie Tank Engine was running. I was waving from the top of Green Lane Bridge. The Driver stuck his hand out through the ventilation hole, and waved back.

Think it'll make a much better addition to your collection! I'm saving for the Dapol one in green that's why it's being moved on. I have enjoyed having it in the collection of course.
And yep it does look familiar , and it's never parting the collection!
      Thanks for watching :-)

I have a hornby 14XX and an Airfix auto coach. Have you tried tweaking the fishplates as they sometimes come loose over time.
