So I was completely blown away by the first season because I watched that before I read the manga and I honestly wish that Mom was just the twisted villain in the story and they kept it based around Grace Field. I felt cheated when it came to the “second core” of the queen, why was this never mentioned earlier in the story that it was a possibility for demons to have multiple cores? it felt so cheap when Musica just explained it on the spot and Lewis magically had another core. Also, that slap in the face when Lewis basically saves the demon world and even admitting that it’s not in his character, isn’t he just passionate about the hunt? that’s his greatest desire, so him totally changing (not caring about being defeated by children)and drinking the blood was so confusing. Several characters like Ayshe also got NO CLOSURE after Norman basically killed her father, I know he uttered something to her in Demon language but is that it? Norman is just forgiven? I’m sorry for ranting, there were some things I loved about the Manga but just giving up and rushing the ending is really disappointing. It felt like a fairytale the last 20 chapters. I did like the ending though, taking Emma’s memory was something I didn’t predict and it was really sad / touching that she couldn’t remember. This really had potential to be a great, great manga.
The second core thing was hinted at before, when Leuvis’s body wasn’t where he was “killed.” I have much more of a problem with the abundance of contrivances and Emma always getting her way in everything.
I started to really hate the series around Goldie pond, the kids wielding guns like pro soldiers in a couple days, etc just lost me after how smart the Escape arc was. To me, the ending was a bit of the mess, but I kept reading because that First arc was really special to me and I couldn't just drop the series. Even if I would give it a 5-6/10, this manga deserves credit for being very unique and fresh in such a generic magazine like Jump. The artist is also bloody amazing and was drawing massive pieces on twitter even while working on a weekly series, I hope they do more in the future. The author should focus more on the original messages the manga started with and stop relying on magic for an escape when he gets writer block (the promise destroys all tension in the finale if we're being honest) if he does another series
I would t say that Demon Slayer had a better ending than TPN but damn it really was a downgrade from previous arcs. Isabella, Lewis, Norman, Ray, and ofcourse PHIL deserved way better than what they gave them
I know right I think the biggest disappointment for me is that of sonju (I'm sorry I forgot how to spell his name) and lewis. Sonju had so much potential and literally when I read that he still wants to eat humans made me question, why did he do all that and his goals and motivations but all is explained with 1 panel of him saying "tsk" ( I waited 5 months to read the manga to get that explained but ALLL I GET WAS A "TSK" I hope you can see how frustrated I was). also who and why did lewis not die like literally I get it he has 2 cores but like seriously, and fine I can look pass that but why help emma what changed him into helping a person who literally killed you. I'm so disappointed in the series because of how many times I keep telling myself its okay and that everything is justifiable and this will all be fine for the ending. Anyway have a nice day i'm done ranting
I feel the first warning sign for me when things were starting to go to shit was during the Tefari. Where we are introduced to the son of Bayon. And I thought, 'Wow. The son of one of the Goldy Pond demons who now is forced to take responsibility of his late father's household. What is he like? What was his relationship with his father? What was his relationship with LEWIS? Does he hold ill-will towards the Grace Field kids for murdering his father, or is he more openminded than that?' And then in the very next couple chapters he's unceremoniously killed without a second thought. Which I feel is the perfect summary for Promised Neverland. Wasted. Potential. In the long run, it really would've been better if they just ended it after the Grace Field House arc, and leave the rest to audience interpretation.
That first arc was so perfect. Normans death really hit me and the only time I’ve felt that way was in hunter x hunter with Mereum and that girl. Everything after didn’t live up to the same caliber the first arc provided.
Yeah, im never gonna read the manga or waych season 2 because i keep hearing they get bad. I know a lot that os gonna happen and now i wish i had forgotten all the plot point i now know abt the manga just so i only remember the first arc. I keep saying this for many books and stories, sometimes open ended endings anf a million times better than having a sequel.
I enjoyed the ending. It remained bittersweet, I thought it would've been stupid if Emma was able to get around the new promise. The only complaint that I had about the series was the lack of death... I know there are characters that die. But I mean, we have kids 12 and under running away from demons that are many meters tall. I just can't get over the fact that barely anyone died. In reality, a bunch of kids that are young, ( although very smart ) would not have the ability to outrun a literal beast and would die. I understand that we want character development, but I also think that some characters should be created to reinforce that the genre of the manga is a thriller/horror/mystery/dark fantasy. Overall, I would give this manga an 8/10 I really enjoyed the story, the art style, and the emotions that the anime was able to invoke out of me The only reason that the manga does not get a 10/10, is that many, many things could have been expanded upon. I really thought this was going to be a manga with around 250 chapters at least and felt that it was cut short at 181 chapters. BUT I would say that what was given to us was never short on quality. I highly suggest this read for anyone that is interested in the following genres: Dark Fantasy/Mystery/Horror/Thriller/Shounen
I agree in that the main issues I had were the lack of stakes, because the amount of children that survive is way too unrealistic. I can possibly see how the kids survived the forest arc, and so that didn't really irk me. But what did was Goldy Pond. Only two kids kicked the bucket and they were basically random children...but none of the GP resistance crew had fatally succumbed to those injuries? And its not like they needed to all live...some of them after GP literally just become background art, never to be mentioned or have relevance again. Then the other issue is pacing . King of paradise and the Imperial Battle arc were mostly paced well, but some parts could've used more time for developing tension. With The Return to Grace Field that's when things start to speed up more and more until the last few chapters it becomes a sprint. This needed more time and development to flesh out and hit upon points to where the reader could have a better feel and invested interest in. But with all of these issues in mind, still enjoyable and I also had rated the series an 8/10.
@@kittykat896 I agree with pretty much everything you said! I would say that it should get at least an 8/10 no matter what because of the consistent art style throughout. It really never drops, another manga that is popular that would be given a higher score by me would have been Tokyo Ghoul: Re if the art style didn't get so rough towards the end.
Haven't read the manga but this is another sign of Jump editorial pushing the short series mandate so aggressively. We won't get super long manga like the old big 3, but we'll end up with series where the latter half is rushed to hell and underdeveloped. Then again, idk if it was the writer who wanted to close it out or Jump rushing them.
Why would the company want one of their flagship titles to end sooner and have less volumes and merch available for sale? You can argue that they would push the author to drag it out and milk it, but to urge them to wrap it up makes no sense. It's pretty obvious that Shirai carefully planned out the beginning (interviews make it clear how much prepping time he had until he was paired up with the artist for a serialization) but had no idea what to do after that, that's why so much is rushed and extremely conviniently resolved.
I just pray they change the last arc when bringing it into the anime. Knowing how the formula is for translating manga to anime it will be not much different. 😢
@@genericuser-1 very funny 😐 But seriously I don’t realize how much I would’ve appreciated just the next arc itself to be adapted, yet we got what we got😢.
Jailbreak arc to Goldy Pond was a consistent and solid 9/10 for me (personally, I think I like the pond arc a little bit more than the jailbreak but they are equal in quality for me). After that, while still having great moments, it consistently went downhill. I'd overall give a 7/10, didn't hate the ending but it could have easily been way better

i'm pretty late to this video, but I really agree with all the complaints about the characters. ESPECIALLY ray. looking at his character, it really felt like they were setting him up to be on par with norman's arc. he has so many problems to climb over as a character, they could have done so much more with his character. - his mom is the person who is manipulating and killing his freinds. - he had this little back and forth rivalry with norman which would have been cool had it been expanded upon. - he has the rash and crazy side that can lead to him making insane descisions and all of it just....disapears when they leave the farm. I liked almost all the manga, but the very last part felt dissapointing (spoilers if you click read more) . . . . . . . . The whole "she lost her memory but still the group find her and now everything it's fine" felt really rushed and cliché to me
YES it was extremely rushed. i don’t have an issue with emma loosing her memory , obviously i would’ve preferred it to be different but it was necessary / appropriate. everyone knows emma’s personality so it was not out of her league. i’m disappointed by how rushed it was , a few more chapters with emma and the gang i would’ve ( probably ) felt satisfied. also , i wish they addressed some unanswered questions. why did lewis had a change of heart? he was the MAIN demon who was hungry to hunt and fight humans again why did peter call up phill? how did the rest of society react to the kids coming to their side of the world? how are the demons taking? i’m sure all of them weren’t easily going to except never eating humans again
I don't care its one of the BEST works of art I've ever seen/read. I do have a thought i hope someone sees this. After taking in my favs iv thought of a crossover. TPN and nezha 2019. There both bound by a horrible fate and will always be reminded of it by there neck. The fought against there fate at a young age 5-12 and 3 respectively. Don't you think nezha would be overjoyed to call them friends. :)
I would've honestly appreciated this story more if it didn't have a happy ending. I do agree with the 3rd arc having some pretty good moments but they're too far and few between for me to give a shit about the arc in a whole. Emma is the worst character I've seen in my short time reading manga and it's not close. I didn't enjoy the first arc as much as the second but it was an overall good experience. I can't give it a higher score than 7.5.

I wish the manga didn’t completely suck
I liked almost all the manga, but the very last part felt dissapointing

The whole "she lost her memory but still the group find her and now everything it's fine" felt really rushed and cliché to me
YES it was extremely rushed. i don’t have an issue with emma loosing her memory , obviously i would’ve preferred it to be different but it was necessary / appropriate. everyone knows emma’s personality so it was not out of her league.
i’m disappointed by how rushed it was , a few more chapters with emma and the gang i would’ve ( probably ) felt satisfied.
also , i wish they addressed some unanswered questions.
why did lewis had a change of heart? he was the MAIN demon who was hungry to hunt and fight humans again
why did peter call up phill?
how did the rest of society react to the kids coming to their side of the world? how are the demons taking? i’m sure all of them weren’t easily going to except never eating humans again
Why is it so funny him telling the manga
So it’s really over? Damn. I guess the age of long ass manga is dead and kaputt.
Soooo.......
Dissapointment/wasted potential...
And i am sticking only to the first arc
I don't care its one of the BEST works of art I've ever seen/read. I do have a thought i hope someone sees this.
After taking in my favs iv thought of a crossover. TPN and nezha 2019.
There both bound by a horrible fate and will always be reminded of it by there neck. The fought against there fate at a young age 5-12 and 3 respectively.
Don't you think nezha would be overjoyed to call them friends. :)
I really enjoyed the ending and the whole thing, ig I'm just built different.
Built **wrong*
I would've honestly appreciated this story more if it didn't have a happy ending. I do agree with the 3rd arc having some pretty good moments but they're too far and few between for me to give a shit about the arc in a whole. Emma is the worst character I've seen in my short time reading manga and it's not close. I didn't enjoy the first arc as much as the second but it was an overall good experience. I can't give it a higher score than 7.5.
big toe
