I never noticed the wez thing before, but I think we still sometimes pronounce it was.
Especially if you’re emphasising the was word in a sentence.
Like, “were you really thinking about me?”
“Yes, I WAS!”
I wouldn’t say wez there… food for thought 🧠

If you investigate the pronunciation of this word, there are a lot of different ways to pronounce it, depending on the region. Native speakers are not only people from United States.
