"BETWEEEEEN THE TIME WHEN THE OCEANS DRAANK ATLAAANTIS... AAAND the rise of the sons of Aryas... there was an age undreamed-of. AND UNTO THIS, CONAN! Destined to bear the jeweled cwown of Aquilonia UP...PON A TROUB...BLED...BROW. It is I, his Chronicler who ALONE can tell thee of his saga. LET ME TELL YOU OF THE DAYS OF HIIIIIIIGH AD-VEN-TUUUUREE!!!!"
And all this in the voice of Uncle Iroh :)
The line “crush your enemies, see them driven from their lands, and hear the lamentations of the women” was definitely inspired by Gangish Khan, he had ALOT of hard core quotes
Yes it was. I was just remembering that as I watched that scene. Very fitting for this movie.
See them driven before you?
That's the movie version. Is it same in the books?
@@aidangreen419 Conan has a completely different backstory in almost every incarnation from movie to comics to the original books and the movie is its own thing
@@TrollCapAmerica yea I know I read all the chronicles all the dark horse comics, (none of the marvel versions tho) when I was in my 20s, just wondering about the line. It was a while ago.
@@aidangreen419 Im fairly certain it was just used for the movie because it sounded like a cold line to deliver even though Gengis would have been thousands of years later than this is supposed to happen
And the tomb Conan falls into while escaping the wolves, is the tomb of the Atlantean king, a survivor of the destruction of Atlantis. And the sword Conan finds, is a sword forged in Atlantis long before the tomb was built. Excellent story telling.
And after that scene, Conan is wearing some nice wolf pelts. 😁
That Atlantean King is one who features in several stories by Howard. There's even a movie about him.
This movie has some of the best music of any movie.
the very best
Arnold movies always do for some reason The Anvil of Crom from this movie is probably my favourite theme tune and Terminator 2 my second.
RIP Basil Poledouris, maestro!
Really glad you’re showing them the Arnold movie, this version is the true chad version
From the time of Adam? Yes! The Conan books were set in times before the flood, a mythical era and world created by a young man from Texas named Robert E. Howard in the 1920's. He was a strange fellow who was also a body builder. Howard wrote and had published his first story at age 18, and wrote many more until he committed suicide at age 30 over grief at the death of his mother...
"Sword and Sorcery" is the term for this kind of fantasy and Conan is the king of this style.
The Hyborean age.
Valeria came back from the dead to save Conan as a Valkyrie, which is a type of warrior woman angle that gives an honored escort to the afterlife to great warriors. So Valeria got a good, respected afterlife job, which is why she had all that shiny armor.
If they think a movie from 1982 is old, then have them watch Lawrence of Arabia (1962) but let them guess the age of the movie at the end.
No, theu think most of things in 80's movies are brand new. So they need to watch either a little film about what was around in 1888 or so. Like when jack the ripper was doing his stuff they could call each other on the phones.. Only a business or the upper classes would have a phone but its around none the less... They need to understand that cars and phones and planes came to be between 1880 and the 1930s. They sound lioe it shouldn't be there in the 1980s but i was there about 100 years before that. Now why they won't teach them about the industrial age idk.? Are they supposed to think india is modern maybe.? Well the rest if the world knows why india and certain other places are so far behind.. It how you handle your wealth. India didnt really let the infrastructure grow when the rest of the world did. A bit like China in some places or north korea.. Its just all for the the powers that be and nevermind the common folk. Now that should be a story they want and need to hear. But they dont touch on that whole thing. Bill Burr even talked about that several times.. I thought i had seen poverty until i went to India.
I love when they comment on a hot guy’s bod haha
I can't belive they are reacting to one of my favourite movies! Great job! Bring more sword and sorcery!
I believe this movie was shot in Spain. All sort of different environments in the Iberian peninsula.
Yeah there are videos in youtube from people visiting the diferent scenes.
Please show them the 13th Warrior and The Northman!!!
How clever Raeen, spotting the witch from the beginning...
A woman living alone in a dangerous world... it's a give-away.
Interestingly, Conan may have child he knows nothing of, who is the child of that witch.
Later, in the King Conan stories, one such turns up...
That wheel the kids were pushing at the beginning was to break / grind stones to get the ore. Ore mined from the earth among the stones to become steel.
I think in the director's commentary they said it was a grain mill. Of course in the story its purpose is to weed out the weak and train the bodies of those who survive. Not real practical in reality, but this is fantasy.
@@Kissamiess interesting. I read the book as well as many of the other Conan novels. They stated it was to mine ore in those and that made sense considering the "Riddle of Steel" theme.
@@Uriel77200 It'se been years since I listened to that commentary, but I think what the director said. The original plan was just to have a wheel to push, but someone came up with a purpose for it, which was to grind grain. Grinding rocks for ore is sound like writer's interpretation, but it's equally valid. My personal idea is that those people who took the Cimmerian children as slaves were just loosely affiliated with Thulsa Doom, like being temporary allies or mercenaries and the kids were part of their payment. They didn't care about the riddle of steel like Doom did, just getting strong slaves.
You guys listen to your audience, I was saying you guys should watch this gem of a movie and you guys did it. Much love to your channel may you reach 1 billion subscribers ❤❤❤
Meh, we’ve been begging for them to finished Harry Potter 7, and not a word.
@melindamercier6811 it takes a minute to do editing and scheduling. I bet they already did it and it's just waiting to be released. Content creators lovs content and that is one good video plus fans like yourself will watch it, like free views 😁
The original ‘Conan the Barbarian’ movie with Arnold Schwarzeneggar!
😁👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Sword and sorcery: what fantasy was _meant_ to be!
If they want to see a movie that is much older I would recommend "The Wizard of Oz". It's a classic made in 1939 and shot in color (not black and white) which was not commonplace at the time.
Good idea.
Amazing! I kind of love how this film get the vibe of Howards work, and by being set in a mythical, imaginary past it kind of always works. "I feel like I’ve seen film from Adam's time." Yeah, exactly. Could not have put it better.
In this movie you cannot leave out the sound and music...😮💨
19:40 They didnt react much when Conan punched out that Camel.
I get the feeling that's not the first time they have seen someone fight a camel.
Wish Badshah and Babu were here for Conan, please show to them some day too.
Debauchery is Happening Here!
Nice!!! This is my favorite movie of all time!!
My favorite line of this reaction "Debauchery is happening here!"
Arnold and Lou Ferrigno are really good friends, I don't know why they've never worked together in a movie, not counting the Pumping Iron documentary. Lou is still active in Hollywood, he played the Hulk on the 70s tv show, he also cameoed as Stan Lee's security guard partner and voiced the Hulk in 2003's Hulk, he was also the voice of Hulk in 2008's The Incredible Hulk and Avengers: Age Of Ultron and was in 2022 mini-series The Offer, a docudrama about the making of The Godfather.
Probably one of my all time favorite movies.
Just happy to see others enjoying this movie. While not one to one with the original stories, this movie so far as been one of the better interpretations of a few of the Conan short stories. It, and it's sequel are movies I used to watch a lot when visiting my Aunts who were big into movie collecting in the 80's and 90's.
The original creator of Conan, Robert E. Howard, started writing his stories when he was about 25, had several finished long form stories, and several more that he had finished notes on. Sadly, for reasons we don't understand still, Conan's creator killed himself shortly after his mother passed, and he was 30 at the time, passing away in 1936. There have been decades of fights for the rights of the stories due to publishers forcing writers to mess with said stories, to make them into novels, and even making the creator's non Conan stories into Conan ones, and other outside authors making Conan stories that didn't always fit in. Finally about 13 years ago, one man got the rights to all of Howard's works, picked one company to make Conan games (which have come out well so far), re-published the original stories in collections, and is moving for an indie comic company to produce new stories, and draw in original stories as well, with a carful eye to keep things right. And they are still in the works to make a Conan live action series happen. It's been a bit of a struggle to find a place that will make Conan without altering it's style.
When I was a kid, seeing Darth Vader's voice turn into a snake was pretty cool, Nick Allder was the special effects supervisor on Conan, but not as cool as Rick Baker turning David into a werewolf in An American Werewolf In London a year earlier.
Show them Ladyhawke or Excalibur.
Also Willow and Legend.
Excaliber is an absolute legend that doesnt get talked about enough
And Dragonslayer.
I liked Merlin (1998). I was a kid tho. should watch it again.
Hawk the Slayer! Or Beastmaster!
Been waiting for the guys to react to this one!
Nice shout-out to Badshah. I was worried for a moment by Raeen's use of the past tense.
Omg I 🎉 can’t believe you guys did this watch along. I requested it awhile ago so happy this happened. Can’t wait for you to do all the Daniel Craig James bonds. Hope babu watches that with Raeen ❤
I was considering recommending this one for quite a while, glad to see I didn’t even have to
Iran is a good guess. It does look like ancient Iran quite abit.
Yes, now we're talking. This and the 1st Terminator I think, are Arnie's best 2 movies, perfect roles for him at the right time. I loved this movie growing up, I used to draw pictures from the movie, and my Dad bought me the armour/sword set when I was 5/6yo.
I wonder if the boys will spot Darth Vader or Prince Akeem's Dad, King Jaffe Joffer? I'm sure Raeem will lol 👌🏻🙏🏻
Finally! I've recommended this one as soon as they started reacting.
bring it on more sword and sorcery
Haha, great reaction. Thank you for sharing. The song at the end was great.
These guys should watch "True Lies" or "Twins" they will see the funny side of Arnold
Yeah, I've mentioned Twins before, I think that will kill them, after only seeing Arnie in his 80s action mode lol
Kindergarten Cop is great too
True Lies should definitely be the first pick, that's top tier.
@@AwesometownUSA It's not a tumor.
The burping was glorious and barbarian-like. I approve! 😄
You used to sell us the guys as traditional villagers living the old life, now they have transcended to modern world? :D
I mean both channels earn so much that the lives of the cast must have improved significantly, even if most money goes to the producer
Crom! I have missed this movie. Now it is time to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
this came out the year I was born. Not sure I'd call myself "very" old, but I guess that's the way it goes ...
find someone that looks at you the way raeen looks at arnold schawzennegger
Raeen must have come across a lot of witches :)
In the 80’s this inspired a lot of D&D games 😊 This movie and Skyrim are my favorite flavors of fantasy outside of LOTR.
I would highly recommand you to take a look at the chaos marauders in warhammer fantasy battle (not Age of Sigmar),
they are heavily inspired by the Thulsa Dum's band, take a look at the old illustrations I think you'll like it
Started work ? That's one way of putting it I suppose 😂
Back in the 80's me, my brother and cousins loved this movie as kids. We were always quoting lines from the movie lol. I've seen it more times than I can remember. I have a replica of Conan's Atlantean sword on a display wall. The sequel Conan The Barbarian is good too, but it's a little bit more Disney compared to this. Still enjoyable. Even now 1982 doesn't feel that long ago.🙏
Thank You for this reaction😄👍... Red Sonja is good too
Fantastic, my favourite film. Arnie's first role as a main character in his own voice. I'll bet they will enjoy The Running Man (1987) too, and I hear they're making a new series on the Running Man, so this would set them up for it when it eventually comes out.
After 'Squid Game', it was 'The Running Man', or 'Battle Royale', so... yeah.
Part of the lore is that Cumerians never pray to Crom. Crom despises weakness, so he considered his followers praying to him an insult; they should be able to fight for themselves. He rewards action, not prayer.
But, somehow, I think defiant Conan's prayer would give Crom a chuckle.
Crom Cruach, the ancient Irish god of the underworld is his prototype.
Sir, make them watch :
-Borat (Tell them the actor played in The Dictator.)
-2 Fast 2 Furious
-Back to the Future 2
-X-Men 2
I wished for this reaction quite while now! Thanks a lot for delivering! Im very glad that they've watched even if Sarru ...had some criticism about it. Yeah, it may not be Lord of the Rings - but it was the measuring stick for fantasy movies before the Lord of the Rings movies.
There'd still be a wish on my part for another film of about that era: Highlander!
CONAN! Great fun.🤗🤗🤗
Greatest movie ever made.
I love the musical score to this movie! Sometimes i put it on to 😴 at night. 😅👍
"give him a tetanus injection" 😂
Conan the destroyer nxt..its much faster paced..they won't get bored.
14:24 best moment ;)
the only conan movie worth watching! a classic! the railhgious debate between conan and subotai - the most civilized i've ever seen!!
I wonder if they realize the bad guy is Darth Vader's voice.
Here we go 🙂
Red Sonja
There is another film Conan the destroyer but, these are only two story's of Conan. The books have many others.
Red Sonja is a sort of spiritual sequel. Arnie was supposed to be playing Conan, but they changed it for some reason.
@@sorewahimitsudesu Brigitte Nielsen was quite persuasive in her need to be the headline star, it seems.
Please react to the movie called "Signs". Specially get Babu to watch it.
Waiting for next rambo movies
I would like the guys to see a really old movie. Buster Keaton in Steamboat Bill. ❤ It's from the silent days but the stunts and comedy are excellent. Jackie Chan says that Buster Keaton inspired him to also do his own stunts. I'm curious if something from the beginning of film making can still interest people now.
❤ I enjoy watching along with these fun film lovers. 👍
I love rhe original short stories by literary great Robert E. Howard.
Audiobooks on youtube
The movie is good but it's not Conan
@@pebbleoverpond Listened to them at work today. I think the Cybrarian does the best narration.
@jonathonfrazier6622 I like the Todd McLaren narration, but you have to buy it. I couldn't find it on the freeverse
cuando dice en esto puedes confiar señalando a su espada quiere decir en su propia fuerza que puede confiar
he is the perfect person :D..
This is one of my favorite movies and I love that you showed it to them. But these guys are so innocent and come from a different culture so I kind of wish you had shown them a censored version. The nudity might have made them a bit uncomfortable. Or maybe they enjoyed it, who knows? 😂
they should watch the movie “2012”
Can we get an update about Harry Potter 7’s last two movies? It’s been months and not a word about it. We’re dying to see their reaction to the end before they forget what’s gone on.
i highly suggest opening the soundtrack in another tab
very good video you guys :)
Have you solved the " Riddle of steel"?
Good movie 😊😊😊😊😊
I see Saru lick and i click
Where is the final Trilogy episode of Indiana Jones???? Last Crusade is the best one and finishes the story
To Crus yaw enemies, have them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women.
In some ways I like this more than Lord of the Rings. I wish they'd make more Chad Sword & Sorcery movies like this today.
The recent Conan movie was a flop.
Hey, you guys have to react to Training Day with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke! Great film!
CONAN THE PEACEFUL ^^'
'' .. a very old movie..'' Mate, I was in high school. The stories however on which it is based Are old. Centenary year 2024
I will have to watch it after work 😢
However, it is a very nice pic
Arrrrrnoooollllllddd had and still has a ThicKK accent. He didn’t speak much in his early roles…
Godzilla 2014😊
React to the " grave of the fireflies" movie.
Amber Heard was great as Thulsa Doom
Godzilla 2014
Rareen said I think she might be a witch 😂 brother you will have no problem with western women 😂😂😂 he spotted her right away lol❤
Reaction harry potter 7 🙏🙏🙏
Well, I'd say Raeen was bored by this one, given the amount of fidgeting, burping and other time-filling restlessness he did.
Da LAMENTATION
Both Conan's father and Thulsa Doom are wrong.
The strongest of steel will rust, the strongest of flesh will rot but the strongest of wills lasts FOREVER.
Conan survived by the strength of his will.
Even a will can detoriate, be broken by despair, like the strongest of steel or healthiest of flesh. Its all words and metaphors just for the wise men to impress the people
@@voxdraconia4035 the STRONGEST of wills, lasts forever.
If the will breaks, then it's not strong... therefore it wasn't the strongest.
Your point is mute.
The Nietzshian idea is considered jejune and partial today. The idea that 'what does not kill us makes us stronger' is just luck, not will. The 'last man standing' is pure statistics, like an octopus choosing a lottery number. Enough octopuses and one will choose them all.
For example: who knows someone who died recently, and of what?
And one piece is just gone forever now i guess
You really should revers the boxes. Full screen the movie and put the people watching in the small box ..
The stories invoke a period of history 8,000 to 7,500years BC, essentially the Bronze Age, when iron or steel was a magical technology.
But cults, charismatic murderers, those who hide behind religion and so on are always around.
One of the reasons such a pair of film was made back in the 1980s.
The more recent Conan movie was a flop.
The Conan in the original stories would never had been taken as a slave he would have fought to the death first. This movie diminishes the character. But still for a movie better than nothing
He was barely into his teens, and not a man in his own eyes, no ceremony was done.
HARRY POTTER
19 commercial breaks in 1 hour. 19! Also, don't belch on camera - it's disgusting!
