I filmed for about 6 months when I first started out...without cleaning my phone camera lens. Such a simple tip that newbies forget. Great tips! Sharing in a Facebook group I’m in for other creators. Thanks!
Cool! I’ve been looking forward to you launching the channel with your first vid. I pretty much do the vast majority of my channel content with a phone. Love FilmicPro and Moment Lenses.
I learned a lot from watching this video and felt it helped me better prepare before I recorded my first video for UA-cam. Thank you for your advice, tips and tricks!
I'm very excited to see Dee's work. There sure are a lot of eyes focused on his launch. I really appreciate the quality work you are doing Dee. Looking forward to see how you grow and serve!
Awesome advice, I love the clean your camera screen. I also love the airplane mode tip. I am learning more and more about the importance of lights and how to balance it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I needed not just this video but a whole channel on the craft of videomaking on a smartphone. So glad I discovered your work Dee. I look forward to your other videos.
I have more videos coming! :-) Is there anything in-particular you'd like to see? There is another great channel you should check out that has great videos on mobile film making, Richard Lackey. Here is his channel, let him know I sent ya. :-) ua-cam.com/users/rlackeyjr
Hi Dee! What videos I'd like to see? I want to do videos that uses clips from other sources, a bit like Evan Carmichael's Top Ten Rules for Success series. How do I practically go about taking footage from other sources? I could use my desktop computer to do it, if I knew the software and the process. What software do you use and recommend? And more importantly, what is the legal position for a baby UA-camr such as myself to 'borrow' clips from other sources and weave those into videos for my channel?
Dee Nimmin iam living in nagpur, Maharashtra. eshin123somkuwar@gmail.com This is my e-mail. And i watch all live stream in nick channel. Notify me when you came to India. Love your Video.
Hey Dee, great video! This is the first of your videos I've seen, I subbed and rang your bell! I have to admit that I was comparing you to Nick at first and it wasn't working in your favor, sorry! 😂 I kept watching because you got my attention with the audio and video quality, great lighting and a nice pace. The content and tips were spot on and you have a cool personality and a solid voice. I'm a fan 😎
I had trouble with my iOgrapher ... the handle would sometimes make a creaking sound that got picked up on the audio. Also the lenses don’t screw into the mount easily. I lubricated the threads with a scant amount of Chapstick (out in the field!) which helped quite a bit. I ended up using epoxy to secure the iOgrapher so it would not make noise.
Awesome video, great tips. I especially liked the tips on lighting and audio. I'll definately have to think about this more in my future videos. Thanks!!
Well, there you go. You've got your 1000 subs. All you need now is another 5 videos to repeat the view count and you've got your 4000hrs. You lucky dog! Congrats!
I'm just well jel of the 1000 subs. I'm well over the 4000 watch time, but was demonetised because not got 1000 subs (I'm half way there). My channel appeals to a much narrower audience than yours though. I do have a question though which maybe you or Nick could answer for me: If one creates a second channel to cover a related but slightly different niche than one's first, does each channel have to meet 1k/4k and monetise separately OR can they aggregate up so both monetise together?
Wow love these tips...thanks. I’m loving making my content on video leap. Would love for you To make a video on how you do your white screen when showing your tips in this video. I’m gonna work on attempting that with video leap 💪🏾
This is a wicked video, I agree with everything you are saying! :) Except.......the landscape, portrait mode, you have just introduced the new portrait viewer on the app, so there's no longer the blackscreen boxes anymore! :) Good video tho
Mikey's Vlog Life Thanks. Yea, you can always put something else there besides the black bars, like blurred video or design, but I wouldn’t unless you’re trying to not show a wide shot and crop in on yourself. It works for certain apps.
Ad-guy1 - Clash Royale Funny Moments It depends on where you’re from. Americans tend to say it one way and much of the rest of the world says it the other. Growing up in the US and then living overseas, I fumble and use them both.
New channel friend, thumbs up with a bell. Your video was really informative. I shoot exclusively on an Iphone X and there is some great stuff here. I do use filmic pro although I have to admit I wish it was more reliable. I shoot almost exclusively outdoors because I have so many problems with proper lighting indoors. I use the same home depot lights and some gels to try to defuse then, but this is where not lack of any professional experience kills me. Audio is one thing that I rarely have to worry about too much with the built in mic. I just have to be really aware of wind and external sounds. Great stuff here. Thanks for sharing Dee. Stop by and show us some love! Thanks! Mike
Thank you Michael. 👍 I also find FilmicPro to be unreliable but it’s still my favorite video app for iPhone. I’m picking up my first iPhone X in about a week so I’m looking forward to testing the internal mic, everyone says it sounds good.
All my videos including ones with just voiceover are done with the iPhone X internal microphones. Other that a few rainy hikes where the mic got fouled its really pretty awesome. The biggest issue with it is the lack of a home button which really makes it a pain to use to shoot video. My guess is you will see why when you test. Especially with a gimbal.
The glare or reflection on my glasses annoys me! How can I combat that issue? Any ideas? Thanks Dee. Great video. Seriously. I feel like someone finally understands an iPhone vlogger like myself.
The glare is all about getting your lights into just the right spot. Lots of trial and error. It's tricky depending on your set up and sometimes impossible. After shooting this video (and the one I'm about to upload) I realize I need to lower my light to combat the shadow that my hat creates on my face. When I do this I *might* get some glare in my glasses. We'll see.
Dee Nimmin right now I just use natural light but I love the can light you showed and I’m slowly working on making a little vlog/rant corner in my laundry room. I’ll be needing one of those for sure!!! Can’t wait to see the new upload today.
Hi, I was referred here by De-Tale. I downloaded the recforge app, and man, its so much better than what I was using, thanks alot! I am new on UA-cam lets see how it goes. I'm going to narrate horror stories and write them too.

MobileAddict In this video, no. My audio video was partly filmed on my iPhone 7. However, I have a video coming that’s shot on my iPhone with comparison with my DSLR so you can decide if there’s a difference or not. I’m very slow when it comes to editing on my phone (big sloppy fingers) so I still prefer a desktop for that due to speed and accuracy.
Dee Nimmin it should be similar except for the depth of field part and in low light situations. I happen to edit videos on an iPad Pro using the Apple Pencil it’s much more accurate than using fingers :)
You nailed it. The depth of field is different. Image quality wise, I think my iPhone looks better. My DSLR is an older 70D and the technology has improved massively since that was released.

Hi Dee! Thanks for recommending Richard Lackey.
I had trouble with my iOgrapher ... the handle would sometimes make a creaking sound that got picked up on the audio. Also the lenses don’t screw into the mount easily. Great tips! I shoot in 4K with my phone & I agree with these tips 👌🏼
Melissa Freeman Thanks! Do you edit on your phone as well?
Dee Nimmin I do! Or the iPad
Well, there you go. You've got your 1000 subs. All you need now is another 5 videos to repeat the view count and you've got your 4000hrs. You lucky dog! Congrats!
Boom! Totally amazed by the support of the YT community. But it's probably going to be a while before I can rack up 4000 hours of watch time.
I'm just well jel of the 1000 subs. I'm well over the 4000 watch time, but was demonetised because not got 1000 subs (I'm half way there). My channel appeals to a much narrower audience than yours though.

Nick's the youtube guy, but I believe it's per channel.
Your bro sent me here!! Great Video!!

This is some golden advice. Especially the cleaning lens one.
MoazzFrags Simple but solid. I’m pretty guilty myself of always having a dirty lens. 😬

Hey Dee Nimmin, Which app or software do you use personally for thumbnails?

Dirty Fingers Dirty Fingers!!!! Thanks for bringing the filth over here.
Dee Nimmin no problem! and happy first upload birthday!
Could you be specific about which Joby Gorillapod you review/recommend in the video? Thank you!
Did you film and edit this video with a smartphone ?
MobileAddict In this video, no. My audio video was partly filmed on my iPhone 7. However, I have a video coming that’s shot on my iPhone with comparison with my DSLR so you can decide if there’s a difference or not. I’m very slow when it comes to editing on my phone (big sloppy fingers) so I still prefer a desktop for that due to speed and accuracy.

First time here, crushing and smashing the bell on my way out. Looking forward to the connection.
Thanks Joe! Appreciate it!
nice video mate i wish the best crazy boy
Half Blind Gamer Thanks man. I think your name change was a great idea.
Dee Nimmin thx mate anithing i can do to suport u im here just tell me ok :)
Apple when he says they both function the same way
Apple: are we nothing to you
How do you clean the lens of your camera
I use a cloth, the same kind you clean eye glasses or cameras lenses with. They are inexpensive.
Thanks!!!
Microphone link or description?? I wanna buy if it's affordable cause I got lavailer boya by m1 but it's not for vlogging
Ali Safeer I’ll be honest, the BYM1 is going to sound better. That lav mic sounds great, especially at such a low price. You could get a little shotgun mic like Rode makes but the Boya will sound better.
Dee Nimmin well any suggestion on how to use it for vlogging
Thank you so much leaned so much
