Disagree completely. There were trucks driving without Jake brake back in the day. However Jake has made trucking safer as brakes used to overheat and cause runaway truck crashes. In the US you cannot use Jake's within residential city limits because of city ordinance noise laws. If any thing is done to change Jake use, it might be that but it's a safety device so it will not be killed just modified to use.

So the Jake brake was invented by the same person (C. Lyle Cummins) who invented the Cummins engine. JVS (Jacob Vehicle Sustems) was granted a licence by Cummins to build them since 1961, hence Jake Brake. If they're all built by the same manufacturer, how can you determine which is better since each is built for its own application, just saying?
