It seems to my knowledge that the under/overBIAS setting is inverted to what this video states. CCW is overbiasing (more open highs), and CW is underbiasing (thicker lows). Try it yourself and do a much more confident relocation of the BIAS pin to hear what Im talking about.
Jaquire should do a full walkthrough of this plugin. I use it on every song, but if im being honest i don´t quite know how to properly operate it. I kinda leave it at one preset which seems to work, but still. Anyways..great video
to be honest i prefer the STUDER A800 (UAD-2). I find ATR to be too agressive compared to that one. But I probably used STUDER far too many times vs ATR
this video is wonderful and it felt like he could have kept going! I wanna hear more from people like Jaquire who know what they're talking about AND have good taste!
What do you do when the mix is not hitting around 0 on the Ampex meter? Do you mess with the reproduce and record settings or use a gain plugin before the Ampex?
you arent supposed to gainstage like the final master's SPL where the limiter will just hold off the terrifying overload/distortion. Rookie producers work that way but its a disaster. The mixes made to work with old analog equipment and their software counterparts are made to accomodate signals at -18DBFS and your master would have a much lower SPL and without any limitation it would remain having quite much of a headroom and would require you to add lots of gain - and that's normal. A healthy master in that regard would need maybe +12db gain or more. For your sounds to sound good they arent supposed to be loud, they are supposed to have a good crest factor of a peak-to-loudness per sound
Jacquire is the Mix KING! Learned so much from all his videos. Such an amazing Engineer & hUman BEing. Thanks for sharing the knowledge! Peace + Love. =)
Is it just me that couldn’t hear any changes between settings?
I couldn't but I assume it's because UA-cam compresses every video into oblivion
I can hear it. GP9 sounds pretty flat, 250 is very low fi, 900 is a nice juicy saturation, 450 was warmer but flatter. Etc. It's subtle but real.
It's not just you. It all sounded the same to me.

Lol same af
Best tape explanation I've seen. Thanks.
This was great, guys. I've been using the 102 on most mixes for the last 7yrs and ended up learning a few new things in 9mins. Thanks!
that's awesome! glad it helps

Did I miss something, nothing was sound about the sync red button vs repro and thru?

Thank you for the kind words
Can't heat the difference between each!
But where is the Tascam 244 setting ;)
Tambourine better louder lol
Double-track and hard pan tambourines fr.
Saturation before or after compression on mix bus?
He use it after compression because he want to emulate what he did in the past
Which print the mix into tape
Is there something similar to this on windows? Whats up with the +6 calibration feature? Young Guru uses this on every mix

Great! As always. Puremix rocks!
awesome Guillermo thanks for the kind words
hi, can i buy the plugin and use it without owning any uad device?
no it's only available with uad device! you might find similar plugins from other brands like Waves or other
yeah i know but i really like the tone of the ampex, shame that uad do stuff like this
If you don't have uad
Try softube tape
And mcdsp analog channel
You can now
It's hammering that mix in a really bad way... do you not hear what?
